- The Worst Speed bag!
This is the first of a series of videos I recorded to review and demonstrate various speed bag sizes to help you out there decide the best speed bag for you. More to come within a few more days.

Some of us are 6' -4" and 260lbs and can get a large bag like this moving pretty good! At my size I get a better workout from the larger bags though I still do like hitting my 8 x 5 also just as much. My favorite size is 11 x 8 as it is right in the middle of the two so I can mix it up on the same bag and do a bit of strength and conditioning as well as all out speed! A guy my size with 35+ years of speed bag experience hitting an 11 x 8 looks similar to the 135 pounders hitting an 8 x 5. All sized bags have their use and should not be completely dismissed as you have done here.....
Agreed
Put a thick rubber band right above the swivel...that is above where the pin goes through shaft, and that will stop the wobble, and then put some tape inside the bag loop to make the space smaller. This is not a true speed bag but punching bag, and the power behind the punch is more important than speed. Actually it might be better to mot use a swivel but stationary U-hook. But the rubber band will prevent the swivel with just one hook. This bag might be best with a dedicated drum for this bags intended purpose . I'm 82 and this was the bag to use in the 50's...ask Rocky Marciano...he would probably get a kick out of a peanut bag.
The Punch Professor has a large speed bag set up as what he calls a Dingle Bag. The size is in the same ballpark as this one, but he has it on a bigger platform and longer rope/swivel combination. Perhaps setting this bag up in a similar way might allow you to get better use out of it, rather than consigning it to the bin of doom?
Saw that video. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Not exactly the same concept as a speed bag platform. Good idea nontheles.
The Dingle Bag set up was amazing. Every gym need the Dingle and Whirl.
Love this coach
Thanks for the heads up coach
Always a pleasure my man
Great video man
Thank you champ
Hi there! Can you do a review on some cheap speed bags in different sizes for beginners?
This is really funny ,boxing is really suggestive .i got this bag last year and I had never seen a bag like that and i wanted to try it out. I have a lot of fun and really enjoyed practicing my left hook on it .it is not a bag for doing average speed bag drills that's true. Bit yes you can have fun ,that's for sure , I had a lot of fun really.
Very interesting. I would love to see your platform and it would awesome if you could share a video with us of you working it.
Great video
I think of it as a resistance speed bag: it's so heavy and bulky, that you have to REALLY punch it to make it move with speed. 😂
BRaKING NEWS: Somebody tell Rex-Kwon-Do that what he has mounted is a "striking" bag, not a damn "speed" bag. This kind of bag is meant for POWER and STAMINA/ENDURANCE.
That size speedbag is great for power punching rounds. And kickboxing rounds. The big bag can take harder hits and bag kicking rounds over and over.
Looks like an odd shaped basketball with a lace 🤣
It is actually made of very good material but just too big to be a speed bag
I'm sure this has been mentioned but the Punch Professor woulda disagreed. It's because of his "Dingle Ball Bag" (this 12" bag hung from a 10" strap or chain, and attached to a swivel under a 5' plank walkway) that I got one of these, and it is as !!!FUN!!! as it looks in his videos! & a great workout, too, imo. Anyway, the devil's in the details, there's a great use for evthg! TY.
It's what old school fighters use, Jack Dempsey credit it for helping him build power.
great video as always. Would love to see you try to get that massive bag going on a decent sized platform, but for the life of me I can't even understand the purpose of it. Why would I want to train on a speedbag that is BIGGER than my opponent's head??? I can't imagine any purpose in a bag that size for anyone lol
I am actually thinking about building an over sized platform to try it out. Thank you for the suggestion but don't know if I will have the time to do it soon.
I power box and kickbox my big speedbag and the big bag takes my hardest hits and kicking rounds for hours before popping from hard hits and kicking punishment for hours.
this size bag was use by oldtime fighters on super large platforms and used for endurance not show pony tricks
why you put that dark layer under the brown drum?
Nice
Ha, you could have a cup of coffee in between rebounds! The thing is, ~any~ bag, even this pumpkin, is going to bob around all over the place until you get the hang of it, but with practice, this comes quickly, and then you'll wish you'd started small! Just let a puff of air out to slow it down if you have to.
If you don’t want it send it my way plz 😁 my platform is 26” so should work for me 👊🏻
LOL send me a photo of your platform and I will consider your request.
@@AhmedShraim what’s your email address plz I’ll send you the pics 👍🏻
what's the best one?
The same bag he’s using but in a 5x8 size is a good one bro it’s the one mayweather uses
I am currently recording a series of videos about the different sizes speed bag in that family. Stay tuned.
@@nate90577 I do like, however I have a couple new recommendations coming soon.
you hit the bag with straight punches old days they were even bigger years ago old timers would never chop at speedballs look at the old books platforms were bigger never use a blow that you would not do in the ring
Yes if he looks up some vintage films and pictures, He will see that the first speed bags were actually called striking bags and they never did the circle hammer fist because you never box your opponent in that fashion, I have vintage big bags that I hit on and there are big benefits from hitting them, I had this title blue bag before, I just ordered one again and will probably do a video of me hitting it, There are two problems with this bag and with any bag that uses a Butyl rubber bladder, The Butyl bladder slows the bag down, The other thing is the long loop, a long loop will flex taking some of the speed outta the bag.
Look up the punch professor he shows how to use all the speed bags perfectly
I have an everlast speed bag that big
Spin it, it looks wonkey
Try
That's not a speed bag. That's a piñata 🪅 😆
