I like watching their eyes when they do this unreal shit. Like he is in a trance not even thinking. He has hit that bag a time or billion before. Nice work.
rhythm and timing really make up for it. i can hit the speed bag with my eyes closed but just with the basic way of hitting it. if you know the timing of things, you could do them with your eyes closed and them hand be just moving on their own like playing piano or playing the guitar while not looking.
6 years ago this was my favourite video on speed bagging; and it still is. I started using the speed bag when I was 6; love that music!! I’m glad my kids and hey, even the dogs love it...
That's Zach Ruffo aka The Speed Bag Skunk. I almost didn't recognize him with his Dan Bilzerian beard. To all you "bags don't hit back" and "not impressed" youtube keyboard warriors you do realize that the greatest boxers use a speed bag and heavy bag in their training routine. its not really about watching whats happening but timing, proprioception, and not getting in your head. Speed bag = use the force. You just have to keep a metronome in your head and be familiar with the timing. Long story short, dont "try to coordinate", just get used to the feel and timing. Sparring is kind of the same. Like heavybag= in your head, sparring= use the force.

That was straight up crazy dope. Speed bag for those that don't know what it is for is to workout your shoulders and to help keep your hands up at all times. And hand to eye coordination
I could hit a speedbag for 1 hour and shoulders are fine. Keeping your hands up is easy, putting them up in the right place is hard. All it really does it perfect the timing of some bag, not humans. At best it teaches you how to recycle your punches and bring them back unless you train it with your hands down to lure people in in a real fight. Ive only seen like me and 2 other people train speed bag with both hands down though.

For those that don't understand why speed bags are (still) used, they are meant to teach timing and rhythm. If you can nail the speed bag in full bounce properly, you can nail the timing on a bad block by the opponent etc. They have less value these days because the use of protection equipment changed the base stance of fighting sports, since the old "put 'em up" stance came from bare knuckle boxing. Using your full forearm to block a punch has both a lot more usefulness and countering power when not using gloves. Getting hit in the face or neck by bare knuckles means that each knuckle is an acute pressure point, which means broken noses and fked up necks were much more common, and hitting someone square in the forearms is a recipe for breaking your hand when not using gloves. Speed bags were perfect for bare knuckle boxing training, since the stance lines up perfectly with the motions for speed bags.
That is amazing. Well done to him. The trick to working a speed bag is more about timing than it is actual speed though. Keep that in mind if you train using one.
