You can almost hear the birth of Maxwell Smarts famous 'Would you believe---' line at 11:30! 😀
I grew up watching shows like this. Bill Dana, Don Adams, Jonathan Harris et. al. Really funny guys. Bill Dana on The Ed Sullivan Show as astronaut Jose Jimenez brought the house down. Later on immortalized by Alan Shepard in the movie " The Right Stuff". I haven't watched television or movies in well over 20 years. There's a reason. Television and cinema back in the day were pure entertainment. I don't reckon they are about that now. RIP Jose Jimenez, Agent 86, and Doctor Smith. Y'all entertained and made us laugh more than you know.
If every nurse looked like her I’d be getting a checkup every day😺
Don Adams was a true talent!!!
YOU ARE CORRECT SIR THE ONLY MAXWELL SMART.
Man, this was FUNNY!
i was unaware of bill dana show other than the name & his great stand up & comedic timing & excellent flintstones album.
it feels like seeing an alternate universe of dr smith & maxwell smart & maggie patterson interacting in same universe. it's even more uncanny than the cannon, barnaby jones crossover episodes
This was hilarious! I always liked Bill Dana's character on The Steve Allen Show. The end credits look like the Dick Van Dyke Show (being as how it is produced by the same company). Real cool! Thanks for posting these. I guess if this show hadn't been cancelled, we wouldn't have Lost in Space or Get Smart. Well, maybe we would have had them anyway, but they'd be a lot different.
I think the shows still would've gone on tv, but neither would've been as fun or funny w/o these men.
@@jehobden Agreed!
i gotta check out bill dana on steve allen show. thanks for the tip, amigo
@@manfrommeeteetse3880 well if it were dumb, it was dumb & sentimental in the fun way. i love the time merchant episode, dr smith finally shows bravery for others
"Blood From Two Turnips", originally telecast on September 20, 1964.
"Coffee. Black. With a lot of cream and sugar in it!"
Hard to believe that The Bill Dana Show lasted only two seasons on the air and lasted for 42 episodes that aired on Sunday nights opposite The Ed Sullivan Show And Bonanza. This was produced by Danny Thomas and Sheldon Leonard who were executive producers that produced this short lived comedy sitcom that aired on NBC from September 22, 1963 until January 17, 1965. The same writers for The Dick Van Dyke Show and the Andy Griffith Show wrote some hilarious material that made this a classic.
I always watched this show
Bill Dana also wrote the " All In
The Family" episode with Sammy Davis, Jr.
Hard to believe Johnathan Harris was a poor kid from the Bronx, he always sounded like a pompous British guy.
"My naeem ees Jose Jimenez!"
Funny where a random thought from the past can lead these days.
Never knew of this show.
"Never fear"
Greatness !!
"Never Fear" Phillips Is Here !!
I was just just skipping around looking at the actors who I remember from other shows from the sixties - Dr Smith, Maxwell Smart, Homer Bedloe, Dottie Snow, until I chanced upon the gem at 18:30 - then I had to go back and watch it all.
I see Charlene Darling too!
Very funny, Don Adams.
Being a brave Detective.
Acting like a child.
This is Season 2 Episode 1 Blood from Two Turnips.
I cried laughing
My Boy Don Adams AKA Maxwell Smart Agent 86
Bill Dana lived to be 92. Maggie Peterson died at 81.
Maggie Peterson
She was always so cute to me...
Isn't that the Darlin' girl from Andy Griffith?
Yep
I think so
It sure is.
Interesting that there was no title or actor names appearing on screen in the opening. Just a voiceover.
Wow! She is a clone of Maggie Peterson (Charlene Darling on Andy Griffith show). Other than identical twins, I've never see two people so much alike.
That is Maggie Peterson.
The doctor was the bad guy on Petticoat Junction who was always trying to shut down the Cannon ball train
Yeah, and he was also in one of the classic I Love Lucy episodes (s2 e1) where lucy and ethel work in a chocolate factory.
Charles Lane. He was in everything.
Lived to be 103

Which is your favorite?
Anyone ever notice that Raymond J. Johnson Jr sounds a lot like Don Adams?
If it were done nowadays, it should've just been called "Jose Jimenez" and actually star a Latino, but with perfectly good English instead.
Shanghaied
I feel bad for Bill Dana, I heard he got bashed by his culture for his humor, but nothing he does seems like a Mexican stereotype to me, his biggest joke is being chicken, I don't know anyone who thinks cowardice is a Mexican stereotype. Heck, Don Adams is equally silly
Infeliz, voy a patear los ojos.
Ugh
