    At 4:02, "$1000 words" are what English linguists like to call "sesquipedalian" -- from the Latin (sesqui -- 1-1/2 + ped -- foot) meaning "foot-and-a-half long words." Any word which is a foot-and-a-half is pretty long in anybody's book. Use "sesquipedalian" to impress and amaze your friends and neighbors next time someone uses unnecessarily big words to convey a simple thought when a little word would do. Say "ses+qui pe+DAY+lee+an" 3 times and the word is yours forever.

  • @adammontgomery7980
    @adammontgomery7980 3 місяці тому +1

    The sine of the angle gives you the vertical offset for each inch (or any unit) of length of the hypotenuse. In this case, sin(10 degrees) is roughly 1/6; so you just multiply your offset by 6 and make 2 marks that far apart. Electricians use 30 degrees a lot because sin(30 degrees) = 0.5 so you can just use a multiplier of 2.

      I am assuming you mean from ceiling to wall? Same exact way as from the floor. Or are you meaning running the conduit straight line?

    Could you do parallel offsets and 90

    Please do a video of 2x box offsets (Height 3/8 or .375") with a "back to back" ( 2x 90*) at a distance of 72", and a height of 12". Thank you in advance.

    When should you do a 45 bend just asking

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  3 роки тому

      Only when you are in a tight space. They are hard to pull through especially when your conduits are packed full.

    Any chance you could do a box offset with rigid steel? I guess it’s the same idea?

      It's definitely the exact same measurements However, I'm working on getting s Chicago bender so watch for it.

    what is the minimim distance between bends that will fit in a 1/2 in and 3/4 bender without messing up the first bend while bending the second bend?

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  Рік тому

      Honestly not sure each bender is different so you would have to play around with it to see how close you can get. Use the finger method and you can't go wrong

    Do you use the arrow for 90’s and offsets?

    • @MountaineerOutdoors
      @MountaineerOutdoors  3 роки тому

      For the most part yes. I have a video telling you about the star on the bender and when to use it as well

    I needed that last part with the finger. I don't wanna do math for 5 min. I dont wanna mark the pipe. Just wanna know how much to bend it. That last finger-method could be a 30second standalone video. Thank you

    i am rewiring the warehouse aqnd i;ve bought the junction boxes , and when they came, i;ve found the ko's are staggered. i have to maqke the offsetsto keep the main emt length horizontal.
    p amsure there's a lifehhack for this situation.
    would you care to talk abot that?
    thanks.

    Question:
    What is the "shrink" for the 10 degree bend?

      @MountaineerOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Honestly it's not that much. I am working on shrinkage video hopefully by the end of the summer. Stay tuned

      I found a video that shows it to be 1/16"/inch.
      Indeed, that is not much when bending box offsets.
      Your video helped me show how to do the box offset to students that have access to a "Little Kicker" bender one of those companies makes. So naturally they take the easy way, thinking every employer will spring for those at around $350 apiece I assume.
      Thanks again!
