How to fly a Trike / Microlight

  • I really wanted to learn to fly, and a microlight / trike seemed like the quickest, cheapest way to do it! This little video just shows my journey from a total novice through 20hrs of great instruction to my very first solo flight. I still have a lot to learn, but the feeling of that first solo was just amazing!
    THANKS to Len Birger - my amazingly patient, encouraging and safe instructor at 'Microlight Adventures' - www.microlight.net.au - in Somersby, NSW's Centra Coast!

    Awesome video! I was a licensed Private Pilot many years ago and miss the adventure! I am thinking of taking microlight flying lessons in the near future! There is a small flying club about 2.5 hours from my home. I am researching costs, requirements and scheduling now.

    I wanna use one of these to fly from one place to another. like a 200 mile trip. I wonder if I carried extra gas and plotted out landing spots and a route if I could do it.

    • @trent5555
      @trent5555 6 років тому +1

      Azure Tides the answer is yes. My trike has a 6 hour range and can easily do 200 mile trips. Trikes have circumnavigated the earth. Google it.

  • @justincordova4726
    @justincordova4726 6 років тому +2

    It's all in the landing. Unfortunately you left the wing in its natural position on the final approach. This way simplifies landing the aircraft, but diminishes the overall quality of the touchdown and fails to demonstrate an attempt to float it with momentum to the ground.

    • @commentatron
      @commentatron 5 років тому +1

      You're suggesting what, pulling back until just before touchdown?

    having a metal control bar so close to the pilots chest does not look very safe on microlights. risk it could get forced into a pilots chest and cause injuries.
