Ever since I received my pilot license, I shared my passion for aviation with a lot (and I mean a lot!) of passengers! Because I enjoy sharing my aviation passion so much, I would like to share it with the rest of the world too! But since taking on 7 billion people as my passenger isn’t really practical, sharing my passion via UA-cam is... ;)
Where a lot of aviation channels on UA-cam focus on General Aviation at the west side of the Atlantic, my channel focuses on Light Sport Aviation in Europe, primarily Holland and Germany. Light Sport Aircraft are also known as ‘Microlight Aircraft’ or ‘Ultralight Aircraft’.
The reason I make these videos is to exchange aviation stories and learn and improve by sharing. And because I love to share!
Watching all of you fellows build and fly ultralighjts really helps me pass the time away. I took lessons years ago in a J3 piper cub a PA 11 piper cub, and soloed in a total of 10 hrs. in a J5 piper cub super cruiser.
But couldnt afford the $10 per hr. for plane rental back in the late 50's. So had to give it up and take care of my wife & new baby boy. Then much later in the 90's got into RC for a few years. I wish I could build myself an ultralite and fly it now but I had to sell all my tools and now at almost 84 and in a nursing home you can see why I appreciate passing the hours away flying right along with you guys from my computer in my lift chair. Enjoy it while you can guys old age sure creeps up fast on ya. God Bless, Danny
Hi Danny! Thanks so much for sharing your story with us! 👍🏻 You're absolutely right: time flies! We're old in just a heartbeat, if we get old in the first place. My father died at 48 and I learned a big lesson from that: if you want to do something, go ahead and do it! 💪🏻 Live is too short... Again, thanks for sharing your story! And please watch the other videos on my channel too, as they are interesting and fun to watch 👍🏻
What a cool little bird. Fiberglass body, pusher prop, great visibility, looks like a winner. 👍
It is 😉👌🏻
Far fewer of them around than they deserve.
@@mothmagic1 Agree
Watching two middle aged Dutch men land a light aircraft to trappy music isn’t something I expected I’d enjoy as much as I do
Awesome that you did... 👍🏻
Yes me too. I would love to fly ANYTHING again... I need to get my model airplanes in the sky again.
@@shahram72 Hopefully you can... 👍🏻
Nice video thanks for sharing, I saw this aircraft on the Aircraft spruce site kit sales. Glad to see it in action.
You're welcome!
Fantastic video - thank you gentlemen.
You're welcome! :)
Those are some cool pair of pants! LOL
Awesome video with perfect camera placing and operation and a very interesting aircraft, which I’ve never heard of before! You keep me excited for the next video. It is always stunning to hear you Dutch guys doing all your conversation in a sophisticated English. That’s a foreign language like for us Germans, however, you are far better at it...
Thank you so much for your nice words! That's exactly why I do this channel; to entertain other aviation enthusiasts! Ich könnte das auch im Deutsch machen, auch kein problem ;) Ich habe meine flugausbildung am EDWF gemacht und Deutsch 'unterwegs' gelernt :) Have a great evening, schöne abend noch!
Very nice plane this time, with a great view front the cockpit!
Yes, it was great fun to fly it! :D
CMF shadow inspiration!!!
Spent many fun times in the rear seat of the Sky Arrow. For a tandem the rear seat view is amazing.
Yeah, totally agree! How awesome that you got to enjoy it too?! 👍🏻
"It feels like a jet" famous last words
😉
If it’s a jet he just stalled and is going down at that speed which way are you pointing? If ground let go of the controls it’s better off flying itself lol when she flys out of that mess you got her in don’t do that again . It’s a very cool plane I haven’t seen that one the visibility must be amazing! It’s almost too much nah what we’re the first experimental called? The first popular one that looked like a patio chair and this long straight rail with motor on it I still kick myself I should’ve bought one for about 1500 bucks this guy had I still regret that that would’ve been a fun project wish I could remember the name you guys probably know
@@cragger9358 Thanks for watching 👍🏻 No, that doesn't ring a bell, sorry...
@@ForFunFlyer can you buy a 4 seater for flying with the family perhaps? I like the design of that and would like a four seater with two rows of seat’s… front and back
@@greg6162 I don't know of a 4 seater, sorry. Perhaps if you Google it you'll find something?
The Sky Arrow is great looking airplane. I really like the visibility, partcularly for the pilot.
You're totally right, the view is amazing! 👌🏻
Thank you for the ride
You're welcome! 👍🏻
Great laid back comfortable review.
Thanks!
I flew in a 650 a while back. Really enjoyable experience! Nice and stable and surprisingly comfortable cockpit. For the people in the comments looking at getting into ultralights I would really recommend the ‘CFM Shadow’ same principle as this aircraft but slightly smaller, impossible to stall, 12l/h consumption and can be bought with a transportation trailer for less than £10,000! Really affordable way to get into flying with a very capable aircraft!
Safe flying everyone !
Thanks!
Great Light Aviation Nutters podcast. Thanks very much from a lover of Holland too. from an old Brit.
Thanks!
Those micro lights are sure small enough, must make you feel a little more vulnerable in such a small plane but I have flown in a few small helicopters that were a blast. Thanks for the ride!!!
You're welcome!
As a disabled dude, when I heard this came with a free "disable kit" so I could fly it, now I'm obsessed with watching videos of it in flight.
Ah, I can imagine! It's such an interesting and capable aircraft! 👌🏻 I think you'd love it! 😉
Hi I can no longer pass an FAA physical so ultralights look very interestinq! Thanks for posting this.
You're welcome! 👍🏻 Besides medicals, ultralights are a cost-efficient and environment friendly way of flying? And modern ultralights or microlights perform almost better than bigger GA 😋
Dude Im in love with that Tecnam in the beginning of the vid!!
The Tecnam P2006 is awesome, indeed! 😎
One of my wishes is a flight in a Sky Arrow. A sweet looking aircraft.
Yes, she sure is a nice aircraft! 👌🏻
Looks like fun to fly
It is! If you ever get the chance to grab a flight in one of these, I definitely recommend it! :)
I for sure will
This is so nice plain.
Yeah, totally agree! 👌🏻
Nice video
Thanks! :)
I learned to fly in a sky arrow. Best visibility aircraft out there. Easiest flying plane in the world. No right rudder on take off and climb out. Landed many times in grass fields.
Awesome! Yes, it's a beautiful, honest and easy to fly plane! Love it! :)
Well I wouldn't say it has the best. The challenger Aircraft has realy great visibility as well.
@@outlawflyer7868 The challenger has down tubes in your line of sight. The Sky Arrow has none and doesn't even have a seam between a windscreen and the aircraft entry "door" in your line of sight. Here is a video from the pilot's seat. ua-cam.com/video/WJRxZNR9wqI/v-deo.html
My dream ultralight.....
I can see why! 👍🏻
There's a similar plane like these at EHHV: PH-WUR of Wageningen University. It's used to perform atmospheric measurements.
Yes, I saw it a couple times over there. Also a very interesting aircraft 👌🏻
What is the main camera that you use for the channel?
Canon Powershot G7X mk2
Nice video - lovely aircraft. What is the take off / landing distance on this ultralight?
It depends on the headwind and RWY surface and obstructions on final approach. With a wind between 10 kts to 15 kts, on asphalt and with no obstructions blocking the approach, I think 200 meter could be possible, but 350 meter would be more realistic.
Hello Gary.
Jolmer contacted me with your question for some additional info.
The manual states that take off distance over a 15 meters high object at MTOW 450 (kg), MSL, 15°Celcius, 15 degrees flaps, short grass and no wind is 215 meters, at 30°Celcius 236 meters.
Landing distance over a 15 meters high object, same conditions and 35 degree flaps is 171 meters (180 meters at 30 ° Celcius)
On concrete runway take off distances are 7% less, landing distances a bit longer.
If only a sky arrow along with lots of lsa, could be in the actual affordable range. But great video. :)
Thanks! :) It depends, but there are LSA's out there that start at 20k? Of course, that's a lot of money, but nowhere near the 80k for a brand new one, right?
Great video Jolmer! Keep up the good work! 😁
Thanks! :)
This looks like a very interesting aircraft. I searched for a for sale link but came up empty. Are they still being manufactured and where are they located? Thanks!
The US dealer is: lowcountryaviation.com, the pilot from this video told me.
Or Magnaghi Aeronautica, the manufacturer in Italy: www.skyarrow.it
I did not know the sun stayed out for that long in the Netherlands !
It does 😉

I have a Sky Arrow here in the states that we are modifying. I have not had a chance to fly it yet but I am looking forward to it. Thanks for posting this video.
@@savagecub Awesome! You're welcome!
That plane is hot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I totally agree! 😉
It would really bother me being in that plane🤣. The thought of the propeller chopping the empennage would get to me.
Haha, I can totally understand 🤣 Despite that, it's a beauty to fly! 👌🏻
the mirrors and 2L water bottle are for correcting locked hard over rudder lol. Pray, aim then pretend you're a bride throwing flowers.
COOL
Thanks!
1st time seeing this video. This is a nice plane. Is it available in kit, certified form ? Available in the U.S. ?
Yes, it's a nice plane indeed! 👌🏻 I don't know about the current status, but I do think it's available as a LSA in the US. Try to Google them, probably something will pop up 😉
What's the useful load of this aircraft? I am currently training in a cessna 172 and i want to buy my own plane soon.
I'm not sure. You should probably check with your local dealer and ask that about the available aircraft. It varies, so good to ask locally.
Is very nice
Thanks! 👍🏻
Wow
Thanks! 😉
of all the model aircraft I have flown, the sky arrow was the most efficient.
Yeah, beautiful aircraft indeed! 👌🏻
What is the make & model of the grey aircraft (PH-K10) at the 0:39 mark?
PH-KIO is a Tecnam P2006; www.tecnam.com/aircraft/p2006t

Looking at this cute plane we dont need so sophisticated airplane....value for our money
Totally agree! 👍🏻
I'm a Finlander too! 100%. I would like to have one of these! How do I get one here in 2021?
Hi there from The Netherlands! 👍🏻 Their website is www.skyarrow.it, but perhaps they're available as used aircraft too.

I’m a new subscriber and enjoying your videos. I also fly RC ! Have you watched the two brothers from Slovenia 🇸🇮 yet?
Thanks for subscribing! No, not yet. Can you provide a link?

Nice video, lovely plane and very enjoyable to watch.... Also delighted you are also an RC pilot I fly RC Heli and fixed wing.... You should do a feature on rc also Thank you keep the videos coming
Will do that, yes! I already have an idea of bringing both worlds together! Cool to hear you fly RC helis, respect! :)

@@alwatt6656 Great! :) And you're welcome! ;)
How much does it cost to buy a used one ?
I believe between 25k and 40k, that's about the range you can expect. It all depends on the conditions of airframe, engine and avionics...
Looks just like a challenger
I don't know that plane, but you're probably right 😉👍🏻
You fast forwarded through the best part
Sorry about that. On recent videos, I don't do that anymore. This was my 3rd video ever. Now, I'm 2.5 years further in editing. Please check out my other videos, especially the one about the VL3, and let me know what you think.
Gunst, is die oude Philips strip weer in gebruik? Interessant.
Handig?
@@woutersijtsma1232 Ja, met de tijd wellicht ;)
Hello Sir. I'm very happy to find this aircraft. Please may I have your contact?
No flight level limitation there?it's 1000ft agl in Spain
It's the same as other VFR traffic, so depends on airspace structure. But no other restriction towards MLA, indeed.
@@ForFunFlyer I wouldn't refer to the Sky Arrow 450 as an ultralight or microlight aircraft, it weighs 300KG empty! Light sport aircraft would be the appropriate term.
@@nameberry220 I'm no expert, but do believe this particular SkyArrow indeed is a MLA, but would have to check that with the owner 😉
@@nameberry220 depends what part of the world you are in. Very easily a microlight here. No more than 2 people, max 45 knot stall speed and I think it's about 600kg loaded now. That weight has crept up a bit over the years. There are a lot of things fit into that category. Times have changed and it also varies by place. When my old pterodactyl was designed in the states I believe they had to demonstrate it could be foot launched, someone had to pick it up, run and start flying. Whoever did it was a lot bigger, stronger and fitter than me 😀
I live in the USA can you tell me where one might purchase this sky arrow bird thank you
I would have to Google it myself, don't know. Thanks for watching!
@@ForFunFlyer I found a 600 for sale in California. Don’t know about the 600 but will look into it further. Thank you
@@tomcaldon3160 You're welcome! 👍🏻
@@ForFunFlyer I’m in contact with that salesman so we will see how it goes. $75,000 not sure about price. Thank you so much if you have any input please advise!!
@@tomcaldon3160 Honestly, I don't know what a good price would be. I always check other, similar A/C on other websites, to compare them to the one you saw first. And be sure to have the plane checked by someone who knows the specifics of the plane and engine, before committing to it. Oh, and of course fly the plane prior to purchase, too 😉
How much does it cost
I don't know exactly. Try to Google it, you'll probably find some?
Is cross country feasible in an ultralight?
Yes, it is. Speed and range fit for normal XC...
@@ForFunFlyer great! I'm new to the community looking to get myself something pre-built. Do you have any suggestions?
@@dundabird3203 I like planes from TL Ultralight, the VL3, Eurofox, Eurostar, too many to sum up 😉
@@ForFunFlyer Do you know how to find any? Looking for planes for sale doesn't seem to be standardized or simple like looking for a car
@@dundabird3203 I would ask pilot friends for local resources, or have a look on planecheck.com, trade-a-plane or similar websites
Does anybody else feel like this is the Streak Shadow's richer, older brother?
I had to Google that one, but -yes-, I see what you mean 👍🏻
I was thinking exactly the same thing.... I would love to have a Streak Shadow for starters
Dude reminds me of andre from the league.
Don't know that, I'll have to Google that one 😉

True! 😉
If it was donne side by side there was not use of the struts .
Perhaps there's a look-a-like to the 450, but then side by side? Would be awesome to share the front seat view with PAX? ;)

“It feels like a jet” why not strap a small turbine engine on it?
Well, our CAA doesn't allow it. But wouldn't that be something?! 😀🤙🏻
@@ForFunFlyer so much for “experimental”
@@danielcook1850 Well, the LSA class I fly is called MLA, or Micro Light Aircraft. That category isn't that free when it comes to engines, etc. The GA Experimental category is, but requires a PPL, not a national sport license.
