Redcat will always have a special place in my heart, my very first hobby RC was a Redcat XTE Pro.
Same here! Redcat and exceed rc are some of my first and they were always built very well for the price points!
I have a Gen8 V2 that is all stock, except adding brass outer portal covers. Very underrated crawler. Definitely recommend adding that to your collection.
I got 2 of the gen8 v2, purple and green, first crawlers and only ones needed!! Great product!
Redcat will hold a place in my heart as rc cars go. The Gen 7 was my entry into the scale scrawler world. As someone who was a dedicated basher with traxxas/arrma/losi's who never cared for crawlers I thought I'd try these cheap trucks to see if I'd enjoy crawling, boy was I in for a crazy rabbit hole of scale crawling that I can thank redcat for.
This exact story is why I’m scared and refuse to buy any crawler bigger than a 1/24 scale haha
I have an SCX24 mini crawler. It gave me the fever. That's why I'm watching redcat gen 7 videos. Lol
I got my son a Gen 8 V2 and its super impressive .. Driven by a 4 year old and has not broken anything yet. Goes everywhere my TRX4 goes.

Another great video as always Mark. Welcome to the Redcat Family. I bought my Gen7 about 2yrs ago and I am happy, happy with her. She is one of my most trusted crawlers and she is STILL running like a champ to this day even though I've ran her thru deep mud and water. When I first got mine I named it Rias because I thought it was so gorgeous. The only thing I've done to her is I added a light bar on the top(ended up gluing it to the fake one) and front and back lights in the bumpers so I can crawl anywhere with her at night.
I was getting 3.5 hours with a zee 2s 35c 5200mah battery on a axial 27t motor and axial ESC. I'd go out and just walk/crawl all over the city in and out of ditches, over people's trash and brush, those big sections of busted up rock on the side of bridges, up and down curbs at stores. With a crawler everything is an adventure.
I know a guy that has that same Truck. He put a brushless motor in it, and is very happy with it. 👍🏻

Its huge, its very heavy. An unbelievable value in my opinion. Im new, but i would only buy Redcat crawlers at this point. I bought the sport, didn't need what the pro offered, or didn't need a roof rack. The tires are very sticky, big and soft. Slow rock crawling it will last for years. If it doesn't, I'll get another one later, a deal at $230+ tax $242. Pro is $289+tax.

That’s so cool. My video I posted two days ago was an unboxing of the same truck. It’s turning radius was its con in design but all around that is so much bang for your buck. Those pumpkins grab rocks on the trail too. But with Lipo power it’s a matter of picking your lines right. I love it when my content compliments yours.

Awesome video. Love Redcat and this was the one I almost got for my first but for some reason they discontinued it In the uk so was impossible to get hold of. But for the money and all the scale features was unbeatable for people wanting to try the hobby..
Redcat will always remain in my heart. My gen 7 pro was my entry vehicle into the hobby. Edit: I've also modded the crap out if it, including new motor and servo and esc, with a lipo conversion and change of body, with the portal axle kit.
Accessories on the top are very durable too lol they will stay on and not break during rollovers and drops

If I could I’d give you 1000 thumbs up! This is one of my favorite videos I’ve seen from you. Don’t get me wrong you always have good content. But wow you just stepped up your game my friend. Now I am I huge Redcat fan but I’m a Huge RC fan first & foremost & just got my first TRX crawler. I love the opening when you yelled out Oohh Nooo! That was me with my Gen 8 V2 last week but I stopped it with my foot before it took a further tumble. Those things are solid & can take abuse. Wait till you get it on a lipo it changes the whole feel of it & it can move pretty good. That thing looked awesome WOW! I was impressed. It will be a great trail RC also I guaranty. You’ve been posting more trail & crawler videos & rounding out your game nicely. Can’t wait for the next blog with the Redcat out on the trial. I was also super impressed with your Supra as well that thing was sick. Keep the crawler & trail run videos up because there getting the attention they deserve. 👍👍👍

Yup that was my first. Might get another one. The turn radius sucks but you can get high steering links for it.

I improved the steering on mine by moving the steering bar that hooks to the servo to the bottom hole on the servo if that makes sense. It was on the top hole which limited steering travel. Made a big difference for me.
We run the Redcat Lightning STK at the paperclip oval at the hobby shop in Aberdeen, NJ. It was my first Redcat car, and I was very impressed by it. The only really bad thing is the stock battery. It didn't even last a week. Besides that, it's been holding up well so far.
I have 5 Redcat's. Can't beat them for the price. And the Gen8 is more expensive but a more capable crawler. Also they will run on 3s.

Mark i like your enthusiam in your videos.It show you are having fun at what you like to do.I think also the Redcat looks up to scale.But you should check out the ecx temper gen 2 1/18 scale crawler.It looks bigger then most 1/18 scale,and the price is only 160.It might not be scale,as a jeep ext,but for the price you can!t go wrong.Now you can do some free mods,to make it crawl better,or like me i put Redcat swamper tires on it,and took the stickers off,i put my own on it i bought on Ebay.Also i took off the driver compartment,so i could add a bigger batter.Also added a on/off switch for the lights.For a entry level crawler i don!t think you can go wrong.Reminder it is only 160.To you and your family and subscribers.Stay safe,and Happy Holidays.🎄☮
Pretty awesome crawler... It can keep up with the top dogs too... Just the memory foam in the tires should be changed out because they get really stiff in cold or cool weather... Warm/hot weather they are almost unstoppable. Body is more brittle in the cold too
I like your video's you do agreat job thank you for all your kard work a short time ago you mentioned that you might do a build video on your tekno truggy I hope that you decide to do them I have the same truggy and it is my first build so it would help out a great deal.
Please post an update on this truck! I'm really curious what you think about it after having it for a while. This might end up being my go-to recommendation for newbies.

Thay are a great cheaper cralwer . My 6 year old has one and with a upgraded servo it keeps up with my trx4 for the most part . Great truck !
There is a high steering kit you can get from Redcat to improve the steering.

So how many potatoes? For $199 at Hobbytown, I bought my BackBone and I have been torturing it and have not had any trouble with it. Looking forward to see if you get one of those and give it a try. I plan on doing a lot of upgrades to it in the near future, as soon as all of the parts become available again. And the chassis for it is all aluminum, and I have bumped up the batteries as big as i can go, and even in high mode, I can take it off the road and crawl with throttle control.

I have the redcat gen8 v2 and it's still way heavy compared to the trx4. It's a good scale vehicle that's cheap and it's licensed but doesn't perform all that good and needs upgrades to compete with a stock trx4 sport.

Mark, for $60 more why not get the redcat gen 8 v2??? It has portal axles, stronger internals, way more metal links and metal axel covers, a licensed hardbody, a actual frame like a real toyota/traxxas trx4???
i put 4 wheel steering on my gen 7 sport and a few other mods and beat the ever loving snot out of it 2 days a week
