Well yesterday I ordered a brand new Redcat Gen 7 should be at my house by the middle of next week. I'm a true die hard fan of Redcat. I have to agree that Redcat gets more hate than any other rc but look at the quality you get for the money. Heck here's a history lesson both Axial and Redcat started out the same year which was 2005. When Axial started out it was a all plastic rig on any of them after 2 years they started having issues as the plastic wore out. So they had to start making better upgrades hence where the aluminum upgrades came into effect. I'm a big fan of both platforms but I love the under dog to. And Redcat is classified as the under dog in most fights.
@@Sackmatters someone asked you the difference and you've had a year to come up with a difference. By now it's safe to say you can't list any difference.
I love my 1/10 scale crawler. I’ve had it a long time so paid around 200 bucks. I was shocked to see 500.00 prices in the year 2023. I would never have paid that. 😢 Thanks for posting this video.
I just picked up a gen7 sport for my 9 year old. It’s our first foray into scale crawlers. I’m so excited my wife is skeptical about my motives. Tomorrow is Christmas!!
I think the Gen 7 is definitely up there as far as stock capability, my guess is a little better tires and the steering mod, and it handles like a beast!
Can't beat the Redcat for someone just getting into scale crawling. For the money it did great. The true test would be against a few other $250.00 crawlers.
@@jayboogie401 Me too. I got the Gen 7 pro. So far so good , strong capable but keeps tipping over even at moderate speed. Removed the roof rack and spare tire , made a big difference but still very top heavy. Tipsy.

i dont own a trx or a redcat so i wont comment on those rigs... but i sure know that the axial can be driven better and perform 10 folds better, the driver made it look like it was struggling a lot.

Yeah you can make any rig bog down and struggle with some throttle tricks. Also he took a little bit different lines with the redcat then the others. I have a trx4 and vaterra ascender and it has ran circles around my brothers redcat.
Yeah same trx4 here. Like the first 90 deg turn trx4 and axial took bad line in a pocket whereas the redcat used the Little Rock to cross with the right front.... like I couldn’t believe the other drivers missed lol. Nothing happened that a stock trx4 or axial wouldn’t do stock for any reason
Looks like you had some pretty good drivers too. I like Redcat stuff. I have an Everest 10. I'm going to get another Redcat, just not sure which one yet.
Only thing I've found that I don't like about the gen7 is the permanent locked diffs. I like the idea of being able to adjust my diff fluid to get the effect I want.
I did get the upgraded pro version. Ended up using 10 oz of aircraft cg weights on the rims for steeper climbs. I have yet to do the shave mod. But after driving for 3-4 weeks I guess it wouldn't hurt the durability of the knuckles if at all. It was great to see it hanging with the high dollar stuff :)
I don't run any weights in any of my wheels, plus our Gen7 class doesn't allow them. I got the sport for the less weight up top. I did the steering mod and that may be the reason for two broken chubs now, I have the CVA's on the way so maybe that will help it live.

I don’t know if any of the local guys here have had a tire come off. Biggest issue I’ve seen so far are crappy stock bearings, horrible brass pinion and crappy steering.
At first, nice Avatar! :D its a standard wheelbase...you can fit any proline crawler body on. I have two body styles for mine, one being the jeep comanche pickup and one the chevy c-10 front with the proline back-cage. Looks like an retro Honcho style ^^
I stripped a few teeth on the spur gear in the first 5 minutes driving my gen 7. Is that normal on these? I haven’t seen any videos on other people having this issue
Where you located bud? Didnt realize trx4 had 2 tone ford body on it that looks great, we all know bout that sneaky bank opening up, Southern bc canada Cheers! Whaddya think of gen 7 ?
I’m in North Florida and dude the Gen7 is extremely impressive for its cost. I’ve broken a few chubs, installed the pro diff spools and changed to a 32p pinion and spur but the rest is stock, motor/esc/servo is all stock. The best part of it is the chassis, very nice piece.
How can I upload vids of my Redcat gen7? I’ve went custom switch a lot. Want to semi comp test it to see where I’m at, comp wise, but I’ve got time into this $200 vehicle. It should now be about $400 but I don’t add inflation to my custom modifications...

The TRX looks way nicer that the other two to me. The red at can do what the others can but it looks horrible doing it, to me this whole class is about climbing ability while still looking raalistic. That's where the trx (and axile) really shine.
If you plan to comp, get the sport and build it just a little. If you want a nicer looking truck with a few nicer features like metal spools instead of plastic and CVD axles instead of dogbones, get the pro
32p spur and pinion gear. Kimbrough makes one that fits perfectly. I think it’s part #129. 54t. As far as pinion gear goes, 11-12t gets you back to stock speeds. Thats it because the trucks are nice. After a while get a set of the steel trans gears and you’re done with that part.
It’s like everything in real life’s you got for what you pay for and it’s sure it can’t be exactly the same if one is 500$ an$ the others is 300$ but for 200$ less it’s quite impressive so maybe it’s not perfect but for the prices........not bad at all 👍👍👍👍

I don’t know if any of the local guys here have had a tire come off. Biggest issue I’ve seen so far are crappy stock bearings, horrible brass pinion and crappy steering.
🦎 @ 4:33
I wish there was a place like this to crawl in New York... Great business idea guys, indoor rc park in NY???
where at in NY?
I bought a gen 7 and im looking for a new body shell any ideas also 4:33 theres a lizard on concrete hump
Didnt realize trx4 had 2 tone ford body on it that looks great, we all know bout that sneaky bank opening up,
Southern bc canada
Cheers!
That TRX is hella smooth though😳
Till the axe came along
Very nice place to crawl around all three trucks are nice but Ikinda like the axial but the Redcat Everest does pretty good
The axial is my #1 comp truck, then the TRX but that cheap little redcat just finds a way to keep up, pretty amazing in my opinion.
Why did you put Mamba X on a Crawler?
because its the best crawler esc on the market
Bloody awesome! Im a kraton basher etc but looking to get into the hobby of crawling and I want the best , can you lead me in the right direction?
OZ-EE DOM-RC if you’re an arrma guy you won’t like my answer. The Traxxas TRX 4 is one of if not the toughest scaler on the market and it’s extremely capable. Take a look at other crawler videos and build series on my channel, I just finished up 2 trx builds.
@@ExocagedRC I will check them outright now, yes I love Arrma cars but I don't think they do crawlers anyway. I love the look of the trx.
Question... do they use brushed motors In the crawlers because they need to run cooler in the because of the slow paced high load that the cars operate at?
@@dominic9279 they come with brushed, once you see my builds you'll see all my high end trucks are brushless. I really like the new Hobbywing AXE 550 size motors and esc.
@@dominic9279 while you're on my channel, the banner pic at the top has a facebook link in the lower right corner, join the facebook group if you want.
Need some advice I have the redcat gen 7 and when I crawl the truck wants to flip over. What can I do to fix this. By the way awesome track. Love the video.
i have a similar issue, is it a sport or pro, i have the pro, while the top gear/roll cage looks cool it adds quite abit of weight, i myself am thinking of removing it and looking for a new body
@@michaelpaciorek4068 I have the sport. May change out body's myself.
Lower your body mounts and soften up your springs I love my gen 7
Where is this park at in jacksonville and is it public I would love to come crawl there
It's more about wheel placement and throttle control , I love my Gen 7 sport , still running a year later with stock plastic lockers and transmission gears , nothing has broken , I feel like I wasted my money on the metal gears & lockers , I love my Gen 7 sport 👍😎
Where did you get your interior for your trx4? I've been searching online but all I can find is cheap ugly plastic things
this is what I used rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FPro-Line-3337-00-PL-C-Clear-Interior-for-Most-1-10-Crawler-Body%2F381615944832%3Fepid%3D1701389256%26_trkparms%3Dispr%253D1%26hash%3Ditem58da153480%3Ag%3AOLoAAOSw3v5XI2rj%26enc%3DAQADAAAB4KX%252FKt4E1xf3SDqEdBclaYbxx84SdLbJtETFVFoz8mN8MpwEIXEwonVNbteCa0TIVPsKP3nnD3tR8LRudZ4kefHW1T2PRawYpFweCeK7wWXoicMD26i2WmsbBa1FhboT4OCGuvUW8d0VH6kcbuAEdT4yl2tw4%252F3QtgCBnepeXUiQ4uDM97pEz8NpRhJJK5R%252FzOnesWu%252FyWFF4WAvxaMiWclRA9%252F3gEdV1%252BUheU3dkS5ZyM6cPrvFXIQKwAwtUz%252Bg3CgU6Vp03wa5UW35vRtXmmympEKm%252BYOfDRK2e9aN23UATdJswHlq5dBPn8XNLC9yjwKX2BgUZl%252B3J8ix%252By6p9oihB7TEdJXRIGocxf7B5ghC1NLSuCR9lGGVPkxP4VDzGUzYv%252FJA7ygMXtUtjv2ID%252F7jmzDi%252FU91FVPUrO1WQitOa4EcK59peH%252FOLkw563Q1X0zIVEku73qboA%252BvIZAtc5hPu462fFdBKfl5%252FgI3debpSW8x7iinoDdqWG8yu%252Bkh8cmkX%252BgEBVZsi965J6pxk2S%252BCyZ1sEU3gDeYz81xZ8%252Fg3%252FWwTggIFqCc%252FMHzsVBlfwBFk2qoCrgtdlECMAlFIZLJD9mv5TTlWni3QwLM8lhIdsDauJf9iFI0gzvU2zZqIA%253D%253D%26checksum%3D381615944832c78bd4df88494fcd96099dda08f35657&campid=5338273090&toolid=20008
Good comparison I could have saves a little money versus the TRX...
All great trucks just love traxxas if u have the money go traxxas.. If u dont go redcat simple redcat is good too
Never had a rock / trail truck . Just ordered them redcat gen7 pro . Better than paying $450
Good truck but why not get the newest Gen8?
I just like the 7 . I’ll end up with 8 in a few months so nephews can run one also
@@lloyderc when you do, watch my videos on that one too, I have a bunch, one of them is a free mod to help the steering out.
good video
Love my gen 7
Well ok!😉👍
Impressive!
i might buy one now!
Which one?
the red cat
The turning circle on the gen7 isn’t a good as what I’d thought it’d be other than that it’s a great truck
Yep but wait till the Gen8, going to be awesome
The TRX looks way nicer that the other two to me. The red at can do what the others can but it looks horrible doing it, to me this whole class is about climbing ability while still looking raalistic. That's where the trx (and axile) really shine.
I think I’ll get 3 redcats for me and the boys mount some fpv cams on em have some fun in the yard
awsome love the video
is it just me or does anyone else think the results arent accurate because you can definitely see the difference in the drivers skills
I dont know about the axial,,,, but,,, where did you pay $1kfor a trx,,, I paid 240,, and I have a gen 7 in the mail for 250
Sorry,, 440 for the trx benz
Everest 10 is almost unstoppable.
What is with the screeching
The MX Guru esc PWM the Mamba X sounds bad compared to the newer stuff
I would love to take a kids power wheel and turn it into a bonified trail hawk.
That would be a lot of beef. I made a mower out of the gearboxes. Have you seen that?
did you guys saw that little lizard ? and awsome vid too .. was looking into geting the RedCat .. and i think im convinced now eheheh
Steering seems to be the only downside to the Redcat
RGT is coming up
412 VW what is RGT?
I don’t know if someone already answered but how do I get more steering radius for my gen 7 pro?
Trim the steering stops away on the knuckles and it turns a lot tighter.
Exocaged RC I ask cause I am really considering the gen 7. Should I get the sport or pro?
If you plan to comp, get the sport and build it just a little. If you want a nicer looking truck with a few nicer features like metal spools instead of plastic and CVD axles instead of dogbones, get the pro
Exocaged RC what upgrades do you suggest I should do immediately?
32p spur and pinion gear. Kimbrough makes one that fits perfectly. I think it’s part #129. 54t. As far as pinion gear goes, 11-12t gets you back to stock speeds. Thats it because the trucks are nice. After a while get a set of the steel trans gears and you’re done with that part.
WHAT in the WORLD did you spend another $550 on with your TRX-4?
Way too much.
TRX4 $450
Mamba X/3800kv $220
Hitec 7954sh servo $80
Castle BEC $21
Mfr rear portal covers $40
MFR Chubs $50
Hot racing diff covers $78
Yeah racing brass knuckles $63
GPM portal covers $43
Wheels $54
KLR tires $52
Ottsix foams $28
Servo winch $40
Stainless lower links $20
Sliders $35
Bronco body $45
1060 esc $22
Hot racing towers $30
Hot racing rear portal backs $23
Rear portal hubs mount $24
Not counting the radio and a few scale accessories.
It’s like everything in real life’s you got for what you pay for and it’s sure it can’t be exactly the same if one is 500$ an$ the others is 300$ but for 200$ less it’s quite impressive so maybe it’s not perfect but for the prices........not bad at all 👍👍👍👍
the good ole Gen7 has impressed me so many times with how well it runs and I can't wait to get the Gen8
Nice
Considering neither one of those rigs has 1000 in them and at the time of this video trx was 400 axial was around 350 I’ve built custom crawlers for over 10 yrs now and I see nothing but a small bit of brass and maybe wheels and tires 😂 1000 my ass
It really seemed like you tried to make the redcat look weak. Either that or your choice of lines were off because a cat is very capable of all that you just did
A operative gen 7 for $250? Really. Carbon fiber doesn't make anything crawl better, just something to waste money on.
All three built in China, so now it comes down to the Money..... 8^)
Axial $329
Traxxas $449
Redcat $199
It's a No Brainer........ 8^))
You’re forgetting the trx and axial have a LOT of mods so with that in mind the decision is even easier. Redcat wins!
So I suppose you don't get 4 times the performance for 4 times the money!
LoL well I can’t argue with you on that one.
Im not that deep into crawler stuff, but for me, the Redcat looks more like a Toy.
Einaar Gednochsonn not toy grade but they are simple trucks
$1000 still doesn't make you a better driver lol
Wheres the 1k trucks? all cosmetics? Lame
