    couple extra tips:
    if you are already happy with the headphones you have but were looking to make a change, i would also recommend you look into picking up an inline headphone amp and or dac (if you don't mind an extra box that is). they can dramatically improve the sound of your current headphones.
    Also, for a FREE solution that you can play around with AND that can actually improve the surround processing in your current headset you can download razer's surround software, available here: geni.us/razrsurround

      Keep up the amazing videos, you have me hooked!
      Also just so you know, I actually ended up going with NONE of the headsets in your video! I was about to get the G35s, because everyone that I have asked who has them also raves about them, but I actually ended up going with a pair of AudioTechnica's ATH-M50x, a Blue Snowball mic and a Fast Track Solo external DAC.
      It ended up running me a ton more than just a G35 headset (around $55 for the mic, $148 for the ATH-M50x and $275 for the DAC) but the sound quality on these monitors is freakin amazing, and I would highly suggest them for anyone who wants a good audio setup for gaming AND music. You don't even need the DAC necessarily, it is just a nice little boost to sound quality (though an expensive one, granted) even on their own the ATH-M50x monitors are incredible

      Also, the headset/mic combo runs right around $200 together, and beats out every headset hands down. You can even download the Razor digital 7.1 surround software and make them surround, if that is the make or break feature when buying a headset for someone

    • @techfreshness
      @techfreshness  7 років тому

      yeah man those are solid cans you got to be sure, especially with a dac, its a good setup you got, i think i'm just more of a minimalist, but those are all good picks and like you say great for music and voice recording if you were into that. the g35's wouldn't really be able to touch your setup, except purely in terms of price and simplicity

    Hey man, if you read this.. have you looked into getting any of the Steelseries arctis line? Was wondering if those might be good. I've been using a G35 for a couple of years too and am also looking for a replacement.

    Hey, thank you for a great video. I love that ur honest. One fun thing would be if we could be on your jouney to find a new headset. Let,s say you try out more headset, and one day find a replacement. Like G933 Logitech, LucidSound LS30, Steelseries Arctis 3-5-7 etc.

    Oh, I remember my G35s! They were a great set of headphones. I've since upgraded to the G933 Artemis and they're nice as well. I think they sound a bit better than the G35s, and they come in wireless (G933) and wired (G633). If your G35s ever die, I would consider them, I don't think you'd be disappointed.

    God I love your videos. I have G35 and cloud 2 as well. I personally like cloud 2 more because they are really comfortable on my ears. G35 is better on sound quality, I think my G35 looks exactly like yours, is it really rare now?

    • @techfreshness
      @techfreshness  7 років тому

      hey z man, thanks for the friendly comment. and yeah i def agree with you on the comfort of the hyperx's, the g35 weak point to me is the comfort, it doesn't have the luxurious feel of the clouds. I actually don't think its that rare, you can still buy them new actually. are yours still working like a champ?

    Hyperx cloud revolver s, astro a50 or logitech g933? I am looking for a headphone that I can hear footsteps and know exactly where people are by hearing them in fps games, I am going to play overwatch, bf1 and rainbow 6 siege. The mic isn't that important, you can recomend other headphones as well

      Aksel Rande I got my astro a50's not too long ago and i was skeptical as I read their forums and they were flooded with issues. However I bought mine from best buy and they came flawless, thus being the best headset I've used to date. If you manage to get an a50 without issues I'd definitely go with them , otherwise get logitech g9332.

      Logitech all the way...i've tried the Cloud 2 & Arctis 7 before, none of them are close to Logitech G933/633 soundstage, openness sound or its surround sound. Cloud 2 7.1 is super rubbish, truly! Arctis 7 sounds is sharp but feels a bit close down, no openness in its sound.

    Tiamat 7.1 sound pretty good just cheaply made and they are heavy. I had a pair and they broke right above the earpiece. It was 1 month after the warranty so got new ones. I had the wireless G35's for a while but the sound cut off every once and a while. I went with Asus strix 7.1 and they are really good.

      I had Tiamat 7.1 version 1 untill now from 2012. It was sound so great with my Xonar Xense soundcard that I didn’t look for any upgrade but unfortunately my Razer’s bass is just disappeared. I guess the wire is broken. I looking for something better or similar.
      I got my eyes on the Tiamat 7.1 v2, Asus Rog Centurion 7.1. What is your experience with your Strix so far?

  • @bellpeppersnbeef13

    For wireless, I use the LogiTech G930, pretty much the wireless version of the headphones you use. You charge these headphones so there isn't any changing of batteries, I haven't heard of too many wireless headsets that are replaceable battery driven but I'm sure they're out there. Although the audio can drop out of these headphones every once in awhile, being able to get up and move around my apt while chatting with friends between games, and just having that freedom of movement is well worth a couple audio drops here and there. Placement of the transmitter solves a lot of connection issues and it even works when I'm in the bathroom with doors closed so I would highly recommend for a wireless solution.
    Also, you quickly mentioned in the beginning of the video that you don't use a mechanical keyboard, what are your reasons for that?
    Thanks for the reviews on the headsets, confirms that LogiTech is king.

    • @techfreshness
      @techfreshness  7 років тому

      nice yeah, those are good points about wireless. i think its actually less about the battery and more about having to keep them charged for me, i think i said the wrong thing ha. i don't use a mechanical because i hate wires visible on my desk, and drilling a whole prevents me from easily moving my keyboard when i need writing space.

    • @bellpeppersnbeef13

    So wait. did you go to like best buy, buy a bunch of headphones then return them all? man we get hated on if we do that here. especially with the "restocking fee" I returned the Logitech G900 a few days ago (bought it for 170$ CAD) and i had to pay 10% restocking fee.
    cried a little too.

    wonder if you usually use more bass heavy headphones because of the senniheiser gaming headsets are usually v shaped

    • @techfreshness
      @techfreshness  7 років тому

      i enjoy my bass don't get me wrong, tight and deep, but i never prefer it so much that it becomes unbalanced with the rest of the audio. sennheisers in general may normally have a v shape to them but these 2 gaming headsets i tried were most definitely more like an inverted v shape if anything, at least to me.

    The revolver is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. Mic is great, self adjusting strap is great, perfect size, extremely comfortable, noise canceling to the max, premium plastic and leather, the cord with jack is very long. The only problem I have with them is a small noise you get whenever you move your head a certain way or move your jaw that forces the headset to self adjust up or down creating a flinching sound from the plastic on plastic adjusting. Great headset though as far as sound, music, and microphone. I feel this video definitely underrated this headset so if you have the chance try try the revolver out I guarantee you wasn’t be disappointed.

    Most people who do not appreciate a true 7.1 set of headphones like the Tiamat is because you do not have a good sound card, it makes a world of difference with the Tiamat, these paired with a good sound card blows all the other headphones in this video out of the water hands down!!

    • @Varganator

      Chris Hood this is so true what you just said. I had Tiamat 7.1 also with Asus Xonar Xense soundcard for almost 7 years and it sounded incredible... it took some efford to set it up but once it was ready it was clear this headset is amazing.

    Picking headphones is a very personal thing. I don't like headphones that exaggerate any part of the frequency range. I like what they called flat or neutral headsets; the same kind you would find in a recording studio.
    Your method of testing the headphones with your own music and games is really the best way to decide what you like the best, and I would recommend that everyone tries a few different ones to see what sounds best for themselves.

    i hated the G35s, overblown sound on my system tho they sounded ok on a motherboard sound card, love my Sennheiser Zeros, transparent, beautifully made, but i use a Sound blaster AE5 dual amp sound card with a s/n 122db, the sennheisers need this,all the OMG reviews use amped DACS, you said you used a DAC, what model? was it amped? your system was simply not up to the Sennheisers, no matter how good, onboard sound dont cut it on the Zeros. Your G35s sound good to you cos they add to the sound with its 7.1 setup and software but 7.1 should be processed by a quality sound card, on a quality sound setup the G35s are disappointing to me,very poor sound stage and to much bass, horses for courses i suppose but i think you have just got used to how they sound,oh, and dont start me on the very average built quality....

      techfreshness yeah, like all is just opinions! Still like your videos, but guess in audio we are just 2 worlds apart xD I had the G35 for almost 2 years, and then i decided to step up my audio game, atm im using Beyer DT990 for open headphones and got the GAME ZEROS for Closed ones, and not only they both WAY more confortable than the G35s, for me, they also sound WAY better! GREAT soundstage, good separation, clear mid and highs slsoBass its pretty good foe me!
      Think my next upgrade in headphones will be the Fidelios X2, read online that those are life changing experience headphones in gaming, but maybe is just overhype xD

    • @techfreshness
      @techfreshness  7 років тому

      hey nelson, wow i'm very surpised that you prefered the game zeros over the g35's, even with a inline amp the game zeros just don't have any bass (to me), but the soundstage was definitely better. i also definitely agree they are way more comfortable than the logi's.....the fidelios are getting great reviews, but then here we are talking about actual headphones and not 'gaming' headphones. the regular headphone market is a whole nother ball game! for music listening, my preference are real speakers anyways. :P

    !!for anyone watching in 2018 and wants some good headphones!! I have tried a lot of headphones for gaming and i have a top 3 for you
    1-Razer kraken 7.1 v2
    2-Razer kraken pro v2
    3-Philips fidelio x2 + Vmoda modmic.
    I had used the Kraken pro v2 for about 2 years on my xbox and PC and i really loved them, Razer gets a lot of shit but the headsets that i chose were/are really damn good, so after 2 years my warranty was almost expired and the earcup leather was kinda messed up so i switched to the Razer Kraken 7.1 v2 which is a bit more expensive but a LOT better at least on pc, it doesn't have a volume button so on Playstation 4 it was a bit harder to change the sound. Now for the Philips fidelio x2 well... they are really good audiophile level headphones and super comfortable and really recommended but the thing is that they sound almost exactly the same as the razer headsets, in fact without a AMP the razer headset sound better and also they come at a lower price!.
    i hope that i was able to help anyone make a choice and also disclaimer!! DONT BUY the philips fidelio x2HR, just buy the normal X2, the HR is more expensive, has such big and wide earcups that the sound is really quit so you have to push them against your head for the to sound nice and other than some more breathable earcups its got nothing more really.
