- It's not often the planets align to give us time off, friends available and great weather in Wales for a motorcycle tour with Mrs Flyer on the Goldwing. We really enjoyed taking the 'Wing back to Wales - Part 1 of two episodes....

Mawddach: just say mouth-aach. Love channel. Keep up good work..
Andy - Mrs. Flyer does a great job. Can I propose that, when you are on tour, you handle the on-bike narration and she take the lead on all the off-bike narration, interviews, features of course the room and restaurant reviews to her? She has a knack that adds to your tour vids, and you should encourage her to a large role in the vids. To Mrs. Flyer - seize the mic and tell Andy to take the pillion post for awhile!
Thanks for the suggestion! Believe it or not she is rather mic shy!
Beautiful landscape, I’ve always wanted to visit since it’s where part of my family originally came from, Caerws is the little town/village,
I liked the music on your tour of Wales in your 2 wheeled car !
Don't start!
Good work team! TMF, keep it up in the ‘clean screen front’👍 Mrs TMF, wrest that mic off ‘im indoors’ more often!
That goldwing just dissolves corners.
Sure does.....
Great video. I'd love to ride Europe someday. I think it's great that you're including Mrs. Flyer in your videos. We need more women involved in motor biking in any role.
Agreed!
I am guessing Mrs. Flyer was a competitive swimmer? You are right TMF ,those roads look incredible.
No just a keen and enthusiastic swimmer….
Great idea adding a little music. thumps up !!!!
Very nice there, thanks for sharing that. 🤓😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻glad you enjoying the wing.
Cheers John - sure am!
Cracking place, do like a bit of Barmouth .
thank you so much
You're welcome!
thanks Mr. Flyer and "Biker Gang" Most enjoyable trip, It puts me to shame as I don't use my bike this way. :>)
Hi TMF, great looking scenery and i agree with your comment about don't ignore what is on your doorstep. Where i live(Doncaster) we have within a shortish ride The Derbyshire Peak District ie Matlock Castleton, Bakewell etc and also The Yorkshire dales, The North Yorks Moors and also The LIncolnshire Wolds so i think i am lucky to have all that choice only a short ride away. Keep up with the tour vids as i really enjoy them.
SOunds like you live in a terrific spot for biking!
I picked my gsx8s up 28 July Friday & riden the route you did & took pictures in the lay bye you were in over looking Barmouth then over the wooden bridge I live very close to Snowdon it’s my local roads love your vlogs keep up the good work
Stunning!
Glad you think so!
By the Barmouth palm trees is a great ice cream place. It felt wrong you riding past as I thought it was a compulsory stop! 🤣
Next time!
We loved that first hotel, stayed twice now, their restaurant is excellent and nice rooms too
Yes it's a nice place isn't it.....food is A1
@@TheMissendenFlyer absolutely superb can't recommend it enough
Helen, I'm very happy to see you wearing a Helite. I wear one too and have deployed mine several times.....LOL, I ride a 2022 Multistrada like your only outlier there.
Well spotted….
Someone's already said but it is true. Your vids (no matter how long) always end quickly.
That vanity case top box was hilarious. Not showing the wife that part but if she clocks it and wants one, I'll have to tell her to cough up the cash for that mod.
That bridge was interesting. In fact, I wonder what it's like when it's wet. Woods always a tad slippery and I can imagine that one isn't an exception to the rule.
Awesome vid as always, sire.
I'm just starting a weeks leave to ride around East Falkland. It's 2°C outside, the wind is set to get up later (normal for here) and your vid just brightened my day and put me in the mood for that cold ride out.
Stay safe.
🍻 🍻 🍻
Good luck with that - I've just been out and it's 23C in my part of Bightly - just perfect for a ride today! Your Spring will be along soon, thanks for watching and for dropping by....
Hey, good to see a road trip
More to come!
"Ian's the odd one out on the Ducati" says the man on the Goldwing. Good one Andy.😁
Yes I thought that when I edited it…
Hey! You and your Group made my decision for this year: i need to come to Wales! You're beatiful people and that Video was absolutly amazing!
I'm driving a GL 1800 DCT from 2021 and i love the UK. Such a beatyfull country and woderfull friendly people. I've been in Scotland already, in 2022 i travel through Cornwall and my next GL trip will be Wales for sure. If you see a Goldwing in red from Germany, that might be me.......😂
Thaks so much for that videos and lovely greetings from Germany (north Bavaria)
You’ll have a great time - I’ll keep an eye out for you!
Just as well you went before Furher Dickfords blanket 20 mph limit.
Haha, i met Ian recently in the chain and sprocket biker cafe! I asked him if i knew him and after id exhausted all my ideas he said have i heard of TMF!! To which i unzipped my jacked to reveal my TMF base layer then looked a little sheepish! Great guy! 👍👍
Oh dear - sorry about that......
That wooden bridge gets very slippery in the wet😮
I bet it does!
Trusting the suction cup...
Foolish…
MY PAUSING SKILLS ARE AWESOME AT HALF SPEED sIR.. Yes everything you point out in the disclaimer are true.. I have followed you for years and find that you are honest and trustworthy. I enjoy these trip vlogs immensely. Thank you my friend ohh and your point about white van man .. SPOT ON Sir 💯💯❤
Thank you very much!
I can recommend The Royal in Barmouth for a meal
You see loads of heavy transports in the Mach loop. A400s with the tail down and the crew are often sat with their legs hanging out the back. Go to Towyn and you’ll be more likely to see them…
Cool! Trouble is I tend to be in Wales around the weekend, and the RAF don't fly then....
I think the palm trees you’re referring to look remarkably like Mexican Yucca trees, so not strictly palm trees! 😂👍 great video! 👍🏍️🍺👍
Yes I’m sure you are right!
Andy try to make sure that nothing else is connected to your phone when it’s connected to the bike. Even your watch. So let the bike handle everything. Phone to bike, intercom to bike, nothing else to phone.
Yes I’ve done that (Honda recommended the same) - impractical though if you rely on other devices like your Apple Watch too..
Stunning scenery. All through this video I found myself thinking 💭 wish I were there.
Glad you enjoyed it
Super video as always, TMF! Your comment about not just liking bikes but needing to go places on them got me wondering if you've ever read Ted Simon's classic book "Jupiter's Travels"? In any event, thanks for the great content!
Yes I have....well most of it....
Great tour vid. Stayed in Tyn Y Cornel a few times. Lovely little hotel with great views and a narrow gauge railway just further along the road. Looking forward to the rest of the tour, particularly Port Merrion.
Stay tuned - episode two next Saturday…
*The bike's nav is probably on a built-in drive with a GPS antenna. Waze is running off a remote server using the phone's cellular, GPS, and Bluetooth.* The former is almost military grade, while the latter is a Speak & Spell wired to a foil-covered umbrella.
Yes very true….
As a former lorry driver who used to frequently deliver in Wales I can honestly say I never went there when it didn't rain. Then again its rained pretty well everywhere, every day, all summer this year. No wonder you go to the Canary Islands when you can..
Well exactly....
I live in Wales and I can assure you it doesn't always rain here, there is a chance of rain in the mountains but not always.
@@xl250mon5 Well said mate, TMF thinks he is some sort of celebrity presenter, the Chris Tarrant oracle of motorcycling, everything he says is right and must not be challenged 🤣🤣🤣
Not at all - challenge away, I never said Wales had any more rain than England, I personally have found this summer to be very depressing in the UK. @someguyhondatransalp650 please can I refer you to the small print at the start of the video - points 1, 3 and 9 are specifically there for you.
Barking up the wrong tree here mate. TMF is as down to earth as any UA-camr I can think of.@@someguyhondatransalp650
Oh wow, I’ve just had breakfast with a bunch of great people. Thanks for that gang and what an upcoming bunch of budding presenters. Superb video. No cake??🤔😉
Don’t worry Dave - cake in the next episode!! Well coffee at least….
Great to see you ride near where l was brought up, and where my mother and sister still live. Tall-y-Llyn is probably one of the prettiest valleys in Europe...incidentally, where you stayed is quite near Bron-Yr-Aur cottage where Led Zeppelin lV was written. Stairway to Heaven is infused by the energy of that area...
Wow - I never knew that!
Great video, and it is so nice to see the beautiful lady bikers joining you on the trip. Big thanks TMF!!
Yep - great that the ladies join us…
Another awesome series coming though, thanks Andy & Carol! 👍
PS. Ms Flyer is really getting an expert on room presentation, well done her! 😉👍 and also great to have Helen back with her amazing bike! 👍
Our pleasure!
Hi Andy. Went to Hotel as told you and the tall barman "Ryan" did remember you. Lovely hotel and my pall and I really enjoyed it. We were both on VFR1200's. Sadly was pouring down first thing but dried out as time went on. Thanks for recommendation 😊
Fabulous!!! Did he say anything in particular about us?? Think we may have caused him some trouble….
@TheMissendenFlyer Didn't mention.....he wasnt aware of your UA-cam channel ....but when he saw you...exclaimed "I remember him!". Best left there 👌
@TheMissendenFlyer Being serious never said anything derogatory about you causing any trouble........left him looking at your channel. 😀
There’s so much criticism of our weather here. Please keep it up. Living here I’d say it’s vastly better than you all claim but please keep spreading the word so it stays less crowded for those that know 😂😂😂😎😎😎.
It is rubbish - just the same as here in England!
@@TheMissendenFlyer it’s wall to wall sunshine at the moment 😎😎😎 but don’t tell anyone
Happy memories of Wales in 1963 - went on my Norton 650 ss with a new girlfriend, first time camping with the bike too. Got to a campsite overlooking a lake and as it seemed a bit crowded on the higher part we pitched up right near the lakeside! Of course it rained all night and we found ourselves in a river in the morning, everything was soaked so we decided to head home to Cambridge ….it pissed down all the way home!! I recall stopping in a cafe and when we were about to leave the owner came over with a mop & bucket and told us to mop the floor!!
7 Gears! Woah 🎉
Good isn't it! Two clutches too!!
😲😅
Great opening question, "so how much clutches do you have" spinal tap vibes 😅
Nice episode TMF. Beautiful scenery & you've got the nail on the head with Wales, great roads & landscape on our doorstep but the weather.....
Sometimes Andy, it’s the phone port or wire that’s either dirty or damaged when the Apple car play is inconsistent.
I use a juice braided cable from my phone .
Your friend was a bit cagey about his Ducati gremlins….let’s guess, they were all electrical ones !
Totally agree about Wales, great roads, but they have gone a bit bonkers with speed limits and cameras.
Nope - corrosion mainly….
I have traveled this area since 1963 and it's wonderful and it doesn't rain anymore than most places in England
Indeed it doesn’t!
Nice video, nice riding.
And of course, always a pleasure to see Helen again. However, you never said she was married. You know you could have lead with that bit of information. LOL 😄
My apologies - I didn't realise it was important to you!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer LOL, now you know! LOL, I'm joking of course. :)
Finally! Another room tour 😁
Love Wales. You have to be really lucky on a multi day trip to stay dry. The roads and scenery is 2nd to none.
Agreed all round - thanks for watching!
Helens LOVELEY. 👍
I’ll be sure and pass that on…
😊 Another tour with wonderful scenery. Thanks guys.
Our pleasure!
Now we can sell our bikes and tour on the couch!
Gorgeous views with the gorgeous weather! I'd loved to have ridden that ride with you!
Just booked same hotel on strength of your recommendation. Going mid week 😊
Have fun - tell them we sent you! (Not that they'll have any clue who we are....well the taller barman might...)
@@TheMissendenFlyer will do :)
Great roads and scenery
I know that route to Barmouth well, and the road from Dinas Mawddwy to Dolgellau is a treat too! Another great vid TMF.
Cool, thanks!
Great video as always Andy, loving the confidence side of Mrs F coming out, I see that she even has her own mic now. 👍 looking forward to part two. 😊
I do spoil her!! Part two coming next Saturday….
The rain is only water and it's what makes it so green here.
I think Scotland has more rain.
Just gear up and enjoy. ❤
Managed Read the small print V5 taken me weeks 😂😂 I’ve accomplished number 10 Rule
Congratulations!
Morning Andy, we moved away from Mid Wales 5 years ago to look after my wife's mum in County Durham, she passed away recently which is sad but now we are moving back ASAP, house on the market yesterday, we miss those roads and the great people!!!
The thought of moving there has crossed our minds more than once!!
If you unshorten the apostrophe, the hotel name would be Ty yn y Cornel. Which would be house in the corner.
The estuary is pronounced ma-w-thak with the th pronounced as in the.
Hi Andy, perhaps running your comms set via blue tooth and simultaneously using your iPhone/CarPlay also via blue tooth in close proximity to each other, is confusing the motorcycle’s Bluetooth transmitter/receiver…just a thought 😊🏍️👍🇿🇦
Maybe - I've tried every combo imaginable....
Nice to see you all riding past my front door. Yep great roads.Enjoy
Wow 23,000 miles on the ducati that's like blood biker mileage
Absolute pleasure having you back in Welsh Wales TMF.
I’m off to Barmouth tomorrow. The estuary is one of my favourite places in the world. The rain is a myth, it’s the same as England !
You will have passed Fairbourne where for the last month there has been a downed Chinook which the RAF are trying to move by road !
Another fact - Bryan Johnson and Robert Plant did an interview on the wooden toll bridge around 5 yrs ago.
Yes we saw the Chinook!
Wachtout' low flying jets'
Thanks for taking us along, it always amazes me how those stone walls go on forever.
BTW those are not palm trees they are Cordylines, no knit pick intended its just the horticulturist in me.
Have been holidaying all over this area for the last 30 years, love the area.
That wing looks so comfy to ride😎👊👊👊
It is!
Always good to see Mrs Flyer.
Some years ago I rode to Wales and there was a road north of Newcastle Emlyn that was so good I had to turn round and do it again.
Beautiful place.
Nice one! That happens a lot in my experience....hence why we keep going back to Wales and ride the same roads!
It’s terrific to watch you glide along the amazing roads, taking in the beautiful scenery that is mid to north Wales. Being a native of Cardiff I used to similarly take off for weekend rides on my Triumph Bonne or red Honda 400F2. However, this was in the early 1980’s, and the experience was not always positive unfortunately. Every pub we stopped at either had a sign stating No Bikes or the staff refused to serve us. And trying to pop into a B&B for Saturday night was met with more refusals. We weren’t Ogri-lookalikes but no matter. Contrast that with trips to visit friends in Wareham, Dorset and our subsequent travels along the south coast to Cornwall and Devon. The country folk were much more welcoming. Cars, bikes, tractors, campervans, all were simply accommodated. So while I love Wales, my best biking days were along the English south coast… and, later, Europe.
How times have changed ..or have they? Have you ever been refused at a pub because you are on a bike?
Nope never (I’m glad to say times have changed!)
Landlords didn't like bikers wearing waxed clobber back in the day, you don't get it much anymore.
Roads, countryside and everything just looks amazing. Definitely putting this on the list and can’t wait to see the next vid👍🏍
Glad you enjoyed it! Next episode coming on Saturday....
What a great vidi and good to see you enjoying some of my favourite places on my every day radar.
Hooray! Another touring vid! Thank you!
I used to live in Chester; so North and Mid Wales was my riding playground. Thanks for the reminders.
Our pleasure!
Yup, had a long weekend in Wales and it took a strip down, hands and knees, old paintbrush and various products to clean the bike. Still love Wales though!
Mainly brilliant roads and well looked after. I rode to Barmouth from Shropshire on Sunday and the amount of camper vans now is shocking. I think the driver's of such vehicles should be told that they have more than 3 gears.
Do they😂?
Looks a great trip, with a fine “crew” you got there!
No Euro tour next year so staying near Barmouth for a week👍
Could be worse!
Loved the video. I think Julia Bradbury filmed one of her railway walks where you go onto the wooden bridge. I will have to take my GS to Wales!!
The Goldwing appears super steady , even on that rickety wooden bridge.
It is thanks largely to it's huge weight!
Beautiful, love the long and winding roads, stone walls, hills, lakes and sea with no caravans. One man’s doorstep or an exotic location I’ve never considered. Cool bridge to make me nervous. At least it wasn’t wet.
Yes that would have been fun!!!
I'm sorry but there is caravans and camper vans in abundance.
Good to see people out enjoying their hobbies! But I do agree it's a pain getting stuck behind one....
Dont worry about the pronunciation, its great that your touring and advertising our amazing country!
Thanks! 😃
I live near Tenby, Pembrokeshire, South Wales and spin that area on my CBF1000 GT on some weekends. Recognise the places you touring around! Great VBlog for a Sunday morning!
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching....
This time last year, I was touring Wales on my bike. I started in the Brecons and ended in Snowdonia. It was some of the best fun I've ever had on two wheels. Since then, I've had to sell the bike as i had to have cardio surgery last December. Now I'm getting stronger and fitter again I'm missing the bike more than ever. Hopefully, I'll be back on two wheels by next spring possibly on something Z900rs shaped.
Keep the videos coming - love the channel.
Hope you get fully bike fit soon!
I've had a GPX file ready for a few years that takes me to North and South Wales with the wooden bridge and the Mach loop. Not only Wales, also Peak district, Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. Corona threw a spanner in the works and, moreover, your Brexit, which means that we now need a travel pass to come from Europe (Belgium). Due to Corona, our weekend Cottswold also fell into the water in 2020.
Fortunately already crossed Wales in the past. But I'll be back...maybe next year although South West Ireland is currently higher on the wish list.
But Andy anyway....two riders in your group use the right bike and not a battleship like you :-D
And then to say that you also have a GS in the garage.
Beautiful country!
Beautiful countryside
Sure is!
Love the tour vids. Wales is superb. Good to hear/see Carole with a microphone. In fact great to hear from everyone on the trip, what a great bunch of people to ride with. Plug the helmet microphones into the Rode senders and the receiver into the camera and you can easily record both you and Mrs Flyer onto one camera.
Are you sure that wooden Bridge was rated for the weight of a Goldwing 😂
Well actual cars were driving over it so I assumed so!!!
Another joyous piece of landscape and conviviality. Lovely to watch people maximising life in such a way. I have Just put a deposit on a used GS after having my Bike Stolen, said I never would (after a few lack of nods from some GS'ers) then came a test ride.. Say no more. Punk rocker. No more.
It gets us all eventually! Don’t stop nodding!
These episodes could be longer. Lovely footage and lovely people
Thank you
They will be when the 20mph comes in.
I am from swansea and Wales is my big play ground ❤
You are very lucky!
Hi Andy, Just taking you up on your comment about Wales and the wealth of touring opportunities in the UK. We have just completed four months touring Europe on our Gs1200. Got out of Schengen Zone with an hour to spare and landed in Harwich. Full English in Colchester gave us time to look at the map. Next stop, Cat and Fiddle in the Peak District and then onto the Yorkshire Dales. You are not wrong! These Aussies will be coming back next year for an Ireland and UK tour!
Wow nice one - don't forget to take in Scotland (esp W Coast) and the Lake District....
Steller video and views. Your production here is excellent on the video. Beautiful stuff. I love that your wife goes on these tours with you like this; I've been married 32+ years, and my wife has ridden with me a total of 0 times. Sigh.
What a shame Scott! To be fair it took a long time for Mrs Flyer to want too but now she loves it (in fact I can’t stop her!!)
Never ridden any part of the UK, and I really am going to have to get to that. Wales looks great.
Yes, second only to Scotland in the uk for riding…
Hey kids. It is indeed a GS fest.
Nowt wrong with that of course!
Great vid as always. I'm doing a Wales trip in September, so this has come at the right time. Always a pleasure to see Helen 🥰
Have fun!
I have to say Andy, I think you’re being a bit hard on the weather in Wales. Been cracking most of this year. Lovely to see some local roads being enjoyed by others though.
It’s certainly my been rubbish in my part of England so you e done better than us then!
I did a lot of the welsh coast on my scr950 loved every minute of it bought the bike after watching your review the bike suits me well
