Great video. What's your take about using a much straighter arm recovery in OW swimming and how does that play with: Stroke rate - does a straighter and wider recovery supports a higher stroke rate? Does it somehow impair body rotation; Does it put additional stress in shoulder health and mobility/stability demands. Take care
Awesome videos, i wish i lived closer so i could come to one of the clinics. I’m a freediving instructor living in Greece, thank you so much for these!
Very neat little video. I do all those things and I am a pretty useful open water swimmer, but I am crap in the pool for that reason. Shorter higher turnover stroke does the job quite nicely in open water but not good indoors. LOL
Nice videos! I am trying to improve my stroke rate in OW, do you think doing bilateral could help this? In race competition I usually don't go for bilateral, since I prefer to breath on my right.
How often do you have to spot ? Is it a good idea to just follow someone else and check your position less ? Is there any benefit to draughting in the open water ?
It's not a good idea to follow. You never know if the person in front of you is actually going the right way (and not veering off course). I sight every other breath I take
Everyone says "increase stroke rate". No one says how to do that. You said that the increased buoyancy will naturally allow a higher stroke rate. What if you swim in freshwater without a wetsuit? What do you suggest adjusting to allow a higher stroke rate at the same effort level?
I can swim but struggling a lot in d water during breathing out(bubbling) ,, i can't even exhale for a second, within one to two seconds i feel i should take my head out of water to take a breath, otherwise i feel to hold my breath to be in water for some more seconds ,...this is main issue am struggling with, plz help me to fix this
Hİ, WHAT ABOUT KICKING FOR GENERALLY (TWO BEAT ) OR SOME ADVICE ? I AM ON THE WAY T. I. TOTAL İMMERSİON METHOD ; THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANSWER THAT I WILL LOOK FORWARD.
Research shows that sharks are not into eating humans, they are kinda peaceful and eat only fishes, they only attack when they feel danger or wanna check what are you, the chance of you getting killed by cow is higher than shark, only 3 shark attacks happens in the world wide per year and 2 of them usually survive because sharks bite dont eat them

You are my number one source for swimming tips. I'm getting you're program
Thanks for all the helpful tips! Of all the swim videos I have watched online, Effortless Swimming has been the most helpful for me.
This vid is all fact and no bullshit. Thanks mate.
Your videos are super helpful. I can't get enough. Thanks!
Thanks, mate! Great breakdown and excellent tips to carry forward for open water.

Great stuff... but sooo much easier said than done in my experience!
Nothing beats experience and practice on the open water

The swimmer looks very fast!!
Epic! Can't wait to hit the open water! Thanks for the post very good video!

Hah finally a video suggestion with open water , had enough of easy peasy swimming pools .

Ca donne vraiment envie de refaire de l'eau libre !!!
Looking forward to swim again! :)))
If all races are in open water, shouldn't we replicate these three things during our every day training in the pool?
great question
Thank you for this ! I’m literally moving to Hawaii in three weeks and needed to know this !!
Those guys have an Evinrude propelling them!

Smaller, quicker strokes. Like going into lower gear on a bicycle.
Nice calm flat open water 🤔

I know this is late lol but try doing breath excersises. There's a lot of great qi gong and yogic breathing excersises that will help immensely.
What about kick? Open water wearing a wetsuit vs pool swim…thx
They look really fast
Is this true time speed??
Yes, three of them are pro triathletes normally in the front group. the way the chop is going makes it look quicker though on some shots
i felt the same. They seem swimming 400m freestyle, at national level speed.
Yeah they looked like they were cookin.
I have panic attacks swimming in lakes. I can't imagine swimming that deep in the ocean 😫😫😫😫
Seawater is great for buoyancy. I swim in a lake all the time and need a wetsuit. No such issue in saltwater
Effortless mate, effortless...
Ok you know there is big sharks right ?
Are wetsuit important?
Yes, but only depending on the temperature the water is at.
@@Spruon so it's only for that ok
Wetsuits can be up to 10/secs faster per 100m so if they are good to use
The worse your technique is the great effect the swimsuit has. (It raises your hips if your head is high, and your hips tend to drop.)

If there were no sharks in the ocean I wouldn't be so scared
I’m scared of water

@@ahcryz2543 thank you ☺️
👍
Why do all these swimmers look like they have propellers strapped to their rear ends?
It doesn't seem that smooth 🤔
