Bravo to Ann and Nancy Wilson. It doesn't get any better.
Ann Wilson is one of The greatest rock voices period!👏 🔥
At her age, she probably doesn't have to worry about those any more.
GOAT
Both of them, Ann and Nancy are amazing!
She's great.
@@erichvonmolder9310 Go find Alice in Chains wit Gretchen Wilson (the country singer) performing "Barracuda". It'll blow your mind.
Amazing band, both sisters have beautiful voices and Nancy is a CRIMINALLY underrated writer and guitarist.
Indiana Jones Agreed, Nancy Wilson gets nothing like the musical respect she deserves. Being a female rock musician and overshadowed by Ann’s vocal brilliance have done her no favours.
Exactly. She is so incredibly talented
Heart's best is Dog and Butterfly, genius, deserves its own review.
Her score for Vanilla Sky is so haunting…
So true, It's probably due to Ann's her weight issue. She doesn't fit in with "The Beautiful People".
And let's not forget Nancy as a guitarist, she is up there!!!
Randy Wissler ...exactly
I love Nancy. But let’s face it..Clapton’s not scared.
@@timinla64 I never said she was Clapton, SRV, Paul Gilbert level. But as a guitarist, she can more than handle her own!!
Agreed, Nancy is much more than simply backing vocals in the band!
@@timinla64 She's still amazing, no idea wot that post was for.
I thank God every night for the Wilson sisters! 👯♀️
The Wilson sisters are incredible. The version they did of Stairway for the Led Zeppelin Kenedy centre thing was amazing.
They cover Misty mountain hop and rock’roll on their current album. Also listen to Ann sing she talks to angels. The woman can sing!
The Wilson’s performance of Stairway to Heaven was absolutely incredible. The way they added instruments and chorus and then the whole chorus was perfection. These two songs you played Beth are my favorites of theirs.❤️
To put it simply, our world is a better place because of Ann and Nancy.
Ann is 70 now and still as powerful and enchanting like 40+ years ago ♥ Oh and Nancy wasn't just "the backup singer' but the guitar player of Heart, and a gifted one :)
Ann and Nancy Wilson are the most important female musicians in the 70´s and 80´s. Their impact on the following generations of mainstream rock musicians cannot be underestimated.
What I find amazing is how long she’s been doing this, and how good she still sounds. Such an iconic voice and an amazing woman.
I have been fortunate enough to see Heart in concert. Ann Wilson's voice is more powerful live than on recordings. She left 15 000 people in awe after hitting all those notes for 2 hours.
I absolutely love Ann Wilson. In my humble opinion she's the best female rock vocalist ever.
it's so much fun to listen to her, because aside from her very beautiful and recognizable voice she also packs so much into her singing, both emotion and technique.
I’m also a huge Pat Benatar fan as well...Ann commands the stage like no other. She’s so amazing live.
From one Christopher to another, I do believe I agree with you. Absolutely no one can top Ann's volcanic power. For my money, the holy trinity of female rockers remains Ann Wilson, Tina Turner and Pat Benatar. Ann's got the unbeatable lung power, Pat's got the greatest range (from a low rasp to operatic heights) and Tina's got that singular, swaggering tone. Each are so incredibly dynamic as singers.
@@saltwatercb I'd throw Floor Jansen from Nightwish into the mix. She's fantastic as well!
@@JaceFincham I love Floor, and her technical singing ability is better than Ann's. But Ann has a vocal texture that is unmatched for singing rock. Floor is pretty high on my list though.
I love that you credit Nancy's voice not just Ann's
Two of the greatest female singers ever!
In '79, a girlfriend lived near Ann Wilson. On Lake Washington.
Was invited to a "neighbors and friends" BBQ at Ann's house.
Holy crap... Howard (Heart guitarist) was there, and he asked if I could play guitar. DUH !
I sat next to Ann, and her voice BLEW MY HAIR ! (Which is why I am now bald.) HA !
All singing Beatles and Motown and great old tunes. Most of their full shows are on my channel. They let me film way up close, and other shows are even better. Showbox, Marymoor Park, Tacoma Dome... and their Christmas Show with Sammy Hagar and many guests.
Ann Wilson has always had a wonderfully powerful voice.
THe live videos from the 70's "Magic Man" "Straight on" and "Barracuda" are excellent examples of her artistry.
Love the Wilson sisters! A friend had the honor of Ann coming onstage to sing a song with his band! ....Just doing a cover band gig in seattle, then suddenly Ann Wilson is singing two feet from you!
Ann Wilson, Geoff Tate, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Ronny Monroe (of Metal Church) were all trained by the same teacher - "Maestro" David Kyle
Definitely a Seattle thing!!
Metal Church! There's a name I haven't heard in a while. Used to rock the hell out to those guys!
Is this true? Holy shit I need to check this out
So I went and watched some videos by the so called hier of maestro kyle and I've literally learned more in 10 min than I have in 15 years of playing the guitar and singing. I finally learned how to handle my bridge to be able to transition smoothly from chest to head with relatively no break. I have a powerful voice so I'm super happy and excited to see what I can do with it. Between Beth and him I might be able to put this talent to work
@@randywissler9923 you got that right!
Ah man, this song. I dated a girl in my 20s and she was really sort of a religious sort, never listened to Heart or other rock, but she knew I loved Heart. I knew she sang, but had never really heard her do so. One night we were alone and she started singing this song. AND OMG, SHE WAS SPECTACULAR! She got to that one note and I almost melted right there. Sadly, we broke up, and I learned she died just recently of cancer. So sad.
NANCY IS A BEAST ON THE GEEETAR. Her vocal harmonies are outstanding.. Not just on this song but in their whole catalog.. Wilson sisters ROCK , NEVER STOP!!!
Ann & Nancy Wilson are just scary good
Nancy Wilson is the lead singer on "These Dreams". She's an under appreciated singer.
She complements Ann's voice so well in harmony.
Yes. She sings it beautifully. So much talent in those girls.
I did not know that! Thanks!
My favorite Heart song and I wish they had done more duets
And Heart's first number one hit. Coincidence? I think not!
Nancy's voice is very similar to Ann's except for the power.
Those two women (sisters) standing next to each other are arguably the greatest masters of their craft in music history.
Just saw heart only a few months ago. I still am telling anyone who will listen just HOW GREAT they are!
Bruce Dillinger Same. Can’t get enough of them. Forgot just how many great songs they gave too.
@@malo6073 Absolutely!
And Ann Wilson, at 69 years of age, is truly amazing. The power in her voice and the fact that she's NEVER off key was a wonderful thing to witness!
@@brucedillinger9448 in a word, DAMN!!!
I love how she adds the scratch for emotion. And Nancy is such a great accompaniment for Ann. They are perfect together
She's one of our national treasures
Ann & Nancy Wilson are awesome!!!!!!!!
I was never a follower of Heart, but hearing this song again makes me wonder why :(
Sometimes you have to be older to appreciate these pained lyrics.
Ann wilson’s vowel movements (for lack of a better phrase) are flawless
The first concert I ever attended was Heart in support of “Dreamboat Annie” opening for The Beach Boys. I was thirteen. As you can imagine, the sisters Wilson made quite the impression on me. Been a huge fan ever since.
Can't listen w/o tears. So beautiful
Thanks Beth Roars
A Heart song, at last! I have been a fan from the get go. "Alone" is one of my favorite songs. Every time I hear it, whatever version, chills go down my spine... it is such a great song.
Ann and Nancy will rock until the end of time...
Beth you made my day. Thank you! 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰
Hint hint how do I get her alone
As a side note, Nancy's guitar playing is absolutely amazing. Crazy On You is always a good one to hear it.
This live version always stirs emotions. So beautiful!
I love your love of singing and singers, and your genuine appreciation of what they do and how they do it.
Most people call the climax vocal here "the note", but "Dream Of The Archer" has the note too with sustain.
Listen to "Mistral Wind" live in Seattle, her vocals are amazing. And it's probably their best song in my opinion.
@Joe Paul Absolutely!!!!
Yep
Nancy is great! Heart wouldn’t be the same without her.
this video is really great! Hitting all the notes; clear description of the technique, a lil musical history/ trivia knowledge, and a wonderful reaction. Plus, I mean, it is Heart! Killin it
She has had such a gorgeous powerful voice for so many years now. I love it when she really opens up releases that voice.
I am complete obsessed w heart. Talent that transcends generations
Ann Wilson’s voice is truly, beautifully outstanding ❤️ and their harmonies are goosebumps 😍😍
Love your reaction to the legendary Wilson sisters, subscribed.
These songs are so beautiful! Great choices. I like Ann’s voice in this better now then when they were younger. Nancy is amazing too. Wow!
Ann Wilson is one of my favorite singers of all time. Every time she belts a note, I tear up and get goosebumps. Really one of the greatest singers of all time
Beth you are such a doll love your reactions
Beth, the only thing better than the sound of music is the sound of someone who knows what they're talking about. Well done.
I just love Heart, such a great band.
One of the greatest voices of all times period!
I saw Heart opening for the Beach Boys in 1976 in Philadelphia, and the rest is history. The one thing that stood out back then was how beautiful Ann and Nancy were when they were young and Nancy could play a wicked guitar and still can for sure.
Ann & Nancy Wilson.one of the greatest! Thanks for reacting!
I grew up listening to Heart (I'm 35) because they were one of my mom's favorites and she has said for years that if she could ever be able to sing like anyone in the entire world, through any period of time in history, it was Anne. I could definitely always recognize that she had a nice voice, but listening to it from practically birth I must've been desensitized to it's power because I just didn't appreciate it nearly enough. Seeing this though, and seeing how absolutely amazing she STILL sounds, when virtually no artist this many years later can match their earlier talents like this, I am truly amazed! 🤯 Definitely a powerhouse!
I really enjoyed listening to Beth Roars breakdown of Ann Wilson singing. Very informative. I learned a few things. Thanks Beth 😀
anne wilson is a gifted singer...nobody can sing like this..it's heaven sent.
Me 30 seconds in: It's a shame Nancy gets overlooked as a singer...
2 minutes later: Good thing I listened before posting.
Nancy is such a great backround singer and has a beautiful voice in her own right.
Beth, you can win anyone on this planet over with your smile.
Your videos on here are so very informative and well made. Thank you for your time giving us this content.
I saw them live four or five times back in the day, and what a fantastic show!
Wonderful thanks to share Heart I Love this song!
Gives me chills, she is incredible 😍
Seen them in concert.Awesome concert!
Ann Wilso truly has the best vocal range of all time! She can be sweet and tender and can absolutely melt your face the next second!
Saw them live in Montreal, incredible show & voices 👌❤️👍
My goodness, they are still amazing! Imagine being in your twenties and hearing this!!!
In the spirit of great female singers from the 70's, I would like to request Karen Carpenter. She seems highly revered by other singers and when I see someone listen to her for the first time, they're usually stunned by how beautiful her voice is. So she seems like the perfect candidate for your scrutiny. Keep up the good work.
Simply put, the Carpenters drummer Hal Blaine said in all his years with her she never, ever hit a sour note... EVER!
I always thought Karen had a very similar voice to Ann but just sang in a different genre.
@@jeffderby5804 Ann was the same way. There are a few videos of her in the studio laying down vocals for the self titled Heart album. She sings them straight through with no mistakes at all. They sound very close to the released versions.
Glenn, not sure if you came across this somewhere, but Sir Paul McCartney is on record as saying that in his opinion Karen Carpenter possessed "the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive." I would say praise doesn't get any higher than that. And one wouldn't necessarily guess such a thing, but Madonna and Jody Watley have said how much they adored Carpenter and are influenced by her. She remains one of the greatest female singers this country has ever generated, and her voice is certainly singular in dimension: that creamy, melancholic tone wed to a highly controlled delivery which was nonetheless easy and free. A perfect blend of sadness and warmth. All best, Christopher
Got to see them live in October 2019 and was blown away
Thank You from Salem, Oregon, USA. I had a year of lessons from a teacher who moved here from New York City. Your stuff takes off where she left off Thanks, John Hyne - Tenor
Beth, a sun that shines! 💗
Ann can water my eyes anytime she wants to. AMAZING!!
When my twin brother and I were 16, he brought home the brand new vinyl album, Dreamboat Annie. Since we were twins, we always shared a room. He was lying on his bed with his headphones on, eyes closed and foot tapping to the music. It had it turned up so loud that I could hear it from across the small room. From that day, I fell in love with Ann and Nancy and have been a fan ever since. We saw them in Indianapolis during the Brigade tour, summer of 1990, and it was the best show I've ever seen. We bought tickets for the Love Alive tour, but logistics fell through and we couldn't get there. Heart will always be my favorite band and Ann is the greatest female voice in Rock n Roll history...says me. -tom
You are so sweet, wise in the voice field, sensitive and talented. Nice to meet you ♥️
Absolute legends. Both of them.
Ann has struggled with her vocals but she still nails it!!!! I'm so proud of her.
Ann’s control is bloody incredible
I'll always have some time for Ann and Nancy. Floor does Alone with one of her earlier bands as well as Nightwish on fancam if you ever want to check it out at your leisure.
The fan cam one with Marco, Troy & Kai is fantastic...the one with After Forever is good too, but I think the live version has more "feel" to it IMO (and it's kind of fun too the way Marco says "She's gonna do it, she's gonna do it!"). Cheers!
@@Mike_Judas_Priest_Kalsek yeah I love the live one. It's great seeing them just relax and have fun.
Omg, this is pure magic.
Love this song - thanks for covering it :)
Ann Wilson has greatest female rock voice of all time period
What an absolute killer duo!
I honestly don't think you can ever get bored of this ever
Your smile lights up the world.
Heart is #Legendary ... Love your passion and deep appreciation for music. 😁
💚 Loved your reaction. I was 15 years old when this song came out in 1987. Here's a few fun facts about it. It made it to #1 on Billboard's Top 100, it was nominated for a Grammy, it was the third most radio played song in 1987, it was the second most requested video on MTV in 1987, it was nominated for an MTV video music awards and Ann Wilson was voted best female rock singer, for 1987, by readers of the magazines Circus, Metal Edge and RIP.🤘
To see them live is unexplainably epic
Love em’ and so great live🤘
Ann, The queen of the voices!
Goosebumps!
You’re right on Nancy being underrated. She sang lead on hits, These Dreams, Stranded, Will You Be There in the Morning?
These dreams is such an underrated song. Nancys voice is stunning
Awesome performance from Ann and Nancy
The Wilson sisters are incredible I´love you
Please react to “these dreams”
Where they sing the chorus simultaneously
That's my favorite
Meghan Helmich mine too
So glad you did this one. This performance of Alone is amazing. Celine Dion does a version of Alone and it might be good technically but it lacks the heart ;) this version has. A little clarification about Nancy, she is lead singer in some of their songs such as “These Dreams”.
Haha it lacks the "heart" lol
I love this song!
Hello Beth. I really enjoy watching your reaction videos. Your voice is so calm and soothing. I love your accent. The way you explain the vowels and mouth shapes is real cool. These two ladies are incredible. I knew they both sang really well, but Nancy is really good at playing guitar as well. Take care now. Cheers. : )
Absolute Rock LEGENDS! Anne Wilson is easily in the top 5 all time rock vocalists.. PERIOD And her with Nancy is pure Amazing!
The Wilson sisters are a national…nay…a GLOBAL treasure!
It's the Wilson sisters, so it's pretty much perfect. They also do the ONLY cover of Stairway to Heaven (the song with millions of crap covers) that's fully as good as the original. The ONLY one. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant watched this performance I'm going to link to live, and you can see the absolute joy on their faces at FINALLY hearing their song covered the right way after so many years of hearing it constantly butchered. THAT'S how amazing the Wilson sisters are: ua-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/v-deo.html
An Absolutely breathtaking performance, but you forgot to add one of the best bassist to ever step on stage John Paul Jones who was also there.
@@tonymanfredi6844 JPJ always the 4gotn hero of the dish but it was gud 2 c RP shed a tear 4 a song he despises
I recently read the Heart biography and when Ann Wilson talks about this song she said the producer was shouting at her to just "do something and improvise" there and she didn't know what to do so she screamed, that's the note that you're talking about (at 5.10 min on this video). I always thought that note sounded like an electric guitar. I've seen them live and she hits it every time. Phenomenal.
Ann and Stevie Nicks rocked the 70s female voices
One of the best ballads ever
