I still don't get the basic business model that you are running if you are actually losing $1-3 per box sold (which sounds accurate to me). Does the bottom line then actually come from the Patreon or am I missing something?
UA-cam revenue, patreon, using fastfood apps for reward points, etc. it all adds up. Also the payout from holding scarlet/violet pokemon will be his retirement

Every point that the purple line is below the blue line it was a bad financial decision to be a patreon member to Rudy if your sole goal is cardboard investing. It has been true for years at this point and likely isn't worthwhile to be a patreon member unless you enjoy Rudy's rants and want to support him as a content creator.
As a LGS owner, I have enjoyed majority of Rudy’s takes and have never really understood all the other LGS owners who hate on Rudy, it is hilarious to me listening to these last couple video of him finally saying everything everything us Brick and Mortsr owners all have been saying about bottomfeeder “customers” and at the same time getting to watch in real time all of those people realizing that Rudy is in business to make money, isn’t going to give away free shit, and isn’t on the same page as them. The idea of firing customers is so outlandish to those who just have no real experience as an owner of a business.
MTG to Yugioh comparisons feel so right. Last three years of Yugioh has done nothing but still be under. MTG minus these last few collectors same…only thing I have that got any steam was Phyrexia compleat bundles. Strictly buying Pokemon now

Hasbro / Wizards does not care about the distributors, LGS, and the players. They charge extremely high prices while giving you cheap quality cards and they reprint good cards where a lot of them tank in price. Wizards is slowly ruining the collectability of a lot of cards. This year Wizards has constantly raises their prices. If something is wrong with their product, they say "Deal with it." Players need to wake up and smell the coffee. Our group of 11 people may buy some precons but we stopped buying cases of sealed boxes. We will just use the cards we already have. Magic is a great game but it's a shame the way Hasbro / Wizards treats their customers. Sure we love a lot of their products but we stopped paying these ridiculous prices. So what are the best type of boxes to buy now going forward? The collectors booster box? Same thing with Pokemon booster boxes? Buy a case and hold for 3-5 years? Buy the cheap draft boosters since they’re not going to be made anymore & they got plenty of demand?
@joeymak2000 Collector booster boxes for MTG and normal booster boxes for pokemon. Buy the sets people actually care about. (Fallout, LOTR, Kamigawa, for pokemon it'll be sets with Charizards in them.)
@@cccop0 there’s a part where he’s talking about draft boosters, the ones under $90. What’s the difference between set & draft boosters on those? Draft better than set? & going forward it’s only collector vs play booster? I’m pretty decent with Pokemon!

Out of the three, draft, set, and collector, collector sets definitely age the best because they have a higher amount of rares and mythics which is what collectors will be looking for in old sets when they purchase them in the future. My favorite example is Kamigawa Neon Dynstay which was released in 2022, look at the price trends across the three different types of booster boxes over the past 2 years and you'll see what I mean.
