    What good sounds! I wish I knew what everything meant and how it affects the sound, but I'm really enjoying this pedal!

      Thanks so much!! 😄 Essentially, the comp is the comp, and then you can choose to use the MIDS, TILT EQ, & TILT FREQ to further EQ your bass tone, if you’d like- but you wouldn’t have to in order to get great tones. I believe you can find the manual on the product page to read about it more: www.diamondpedals.com/products/pedal-test

    Very nice demo Lily. I'm still on the fence with compressors. I think I am still too new to bass playing to be adding one (as it could easily mask sloppy technique!) but I recently ordered a Darkglass Hyper Luminal as it was on offer. These are supposed to be the bees knees when it comes to control and versitility. However, I simply did not get on with it. The box I received was unsealed so I'm not sure if the compressor itself was faulty (i.e. returned to the shop by another customer) but it was rather on the noisy side and did not respond in the way I expected. I returned it for a refund and decided to do more research (plus more practice) before buying another one. The Diamond sounds great but that, of course, also reflects your technique and playing style 🙂

      Thank you! I agree about how compressors can get in the way- be it technique or tonally. I’ve never tried the DG Hyper Luminal, but bummed to hear that. If you’re at a point where you’re feeling ready to grab a comp again, I can guarantee that the Diamond won’t squash your tone. You can set it to be as subtle and “enhancing” as you need it to be, because of its optical nature. That way, you can still tonally benefit without it completely evening out your own hands’ dynamics.

    Hey from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪. Wow, This is a really cool video. Thanks so much for publishing. I’ve just ordered mine from Canada. What settings would you recommend for a big thick round bass tone and how does the frequency tilt change the tone?. Cheers and thank you. Niall 🎸

    • @calilil
      @calilil  Рік тому +2

      Hi! Thank you so much! So happy it was helpful & that you enjoyed it. That’s so exciting- you’re gonna love it. As for rounder tones, be sure to select 250 as your TILT FREQ and then turn the TILT EQ counterclockwise a bit for a darker response. Set COMP to taste (higher would prob be better), and also decide if you want to boost or cut the MIDS control. Personally, I would leave MIDS near flat or boosted a little to maintain presence.
      Frequency tilt essentially lets you accentuate how things sound surrounding the frequency you select with the TILT FREQ switch. It’s going to “tilt” it darker or brighter based on the direction you turn the knob.
      Hope this info helps you get ready for your new pedal. 🥳

    How is this compressor? I have EHX bass preacher and it makes too much noise.😢

    • @calilil
      @calilil  Рік тому +1

      Super high quality & very tasteful. Being optical, it’s going to give you an effect that’s more subtle, with a nice sparkly accentuation of your bass tone. I don’t believe the EHX bass preacher is optical, possibly making it squash the tone a lot more… and I’ve def heard about people experiencing noise issues with that one. I did not experience problematic noise issues with the Diamond. Only the usual slight noise increase at times, which can pop up with any compressor.

      No idea how this reply got buried, so I'm sorry for the late reply. I have heard great things about that pedal on bass and it's appealing because it's optical, but I have not yet had a chance to try it.

    Hi, I want to know if this pedal is better before / after the beta V (I bought both cause of you 😊) greetings from Italy. Teo

    • @calilil
      @calilil  Рік тому +1

      Hi Teo! That’s amazing. I’m so happy that my demos helped you discover these pedals. 😁 From my experience (and time spent consulting the manual), it is recommend to place the Diamond Bass Comp/EQ before drive pedals to push and/or EQ them. I personally prefer it this way. In fact, the manual actually recommends putting it as close as possible to the beginning of your signal chain. However, I’m sure if you were planning to set the BETA-V at a cleaner setting to emphasize its Preamp functionality, you could probably experiment with placing the Diamond after. In that case, the manual says it’ll act like a limiter when placed toward the end of the chain. So, you have options!! Congrats on the new pedals. 🥳🥳

      @@calilil hi! As I promised, I tried to put the Diamond before and after the beta V and I found it sounds better at the end of the chain, after the preamp, as a limiter. The sounds is shaped, clear and round (both picked / fingered ). Thank you 😊
