HEY GUYS Long time no see! Been on a bit of a break as of late, but I thought it'd be fun to rework and finish up this lil' thing from October
Once again a HUGE shout out to GenoXLOID for the animation porting script, and thank you JohnSpoop_ and CosmiNightmare for all of the helpful shader tips and advice. Y'all should check out their stuff on Twitter / X!
Semi-offtopic, but I feel like I should also add that I don't mind people reposting my content! actually the reason her dress moves like that is to ensure there isn't any clipping!! it looks like the dress is rigged to almost "attach" to the upper legs, ensuring that they don't, in fact clip :)

Usually Splatoon Blender animations look absolutely goofy, but in this video the animation is so smooth and easy to take seriously. Very well done!

@theadhduck Unfortunately most of this was not animated by me, rather using game files for the dance animations, but I enjoy making these as I can practice things like facial animations, physics, materials and lighting 🥰 I hope to make original animations some time in the future

It's funny, I just noticed, Callie and Marie's legs are so far apart that their pelvic bone must be really, really wide. Their legs almost look like separate appendages from their body lol

The “Yeah!” is a bunch of inklings shouting put through a guitar amp with reverb. The “Wini geta” sounds like inkling voices put through a vocoder

@@MegaManNeo I’ve had a lot of people ask for dark or black backgrounds to use in those DIY holograms so that’s why I decided to do that for this video 😅 There still is a scrolling pattern but I realise it’s so dark it’s hardly visible on some displays and devices

@foggykog I can see where it could be used like this 👀 That's a little nerdy but there's the "Magic Mirror" that uses a Raspberry Pi under the hood and really just displays infos like current time and weather onto a mirroring glass. Probably one could let the Squid Sisters dance on that thing forever if the video is looped.

The animations are from Splatoon 1's files. Thanks to GenoXLOID's python script, I was able to convert them for Splatoon 3 models in Blender :)

Wait you put Splatoon 1 animations onto Splatoon 3 models?? Is there a retargeting thing that helps do that?

@guillermocervisalmeron2209 That is something I have to agree with haha 😅 The facial animations were heavily referenced from their Splatoon 1 performance, which is pretty stiff and gives a sort of “mascot head” syndrome sort of thing. I’ll def try and do a bit more manual animation on their faces if I ever do port older animations again! And thank you for your kind words :)
