  • Southwest airlines pilot, Mark, won an Aircraft provisioning box truck in an auction and decided to turn it into his Tiny Home on wheels! And because this box truck has a scissor lift, he's able to get the best views at any campsite. He calls his house the "SnakPak!"

    This has got to be my favourite build I’ve ever seen! It’s so nifty and the scissor lift actually adds value to the experience by giving you that added view and a feeling of safety like being high up in a tree. The inside is full of stuff that’s FUNCTIONAL he built it himself after thorough planning but he’s got great pre-made goods like the coffee machine, the fridges and the air conditioning unit. The porch is such a vibe I can’t even begin to describe. The angled roof for not just looks but to catch rainwater, there’s a flagpole which is nice if you’ve ever had the pleasure of raising a flag you’d know, finding a use for his neighbours old skis, the decals and motifs that actually have meaning as to his career experiences.

There can't be a man on earth that wouldn't give his left arm to own this. And no doubt there are many women who wouldn't love to tag along with this handsome, intelligent, creative, fun guy. But what sold me on him is that he served our country. And even better than that, he did it in the USAF. I was raised an Air Force BRAT. Go Air Force! 🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲

      @@TRoth858 thank you for such a nice response. After my father got out of the USAF he became a policeman, then a Border Patrolman, then a criminal investigator with a branch of the US government. Mom worked for the government as well. We moved an awful lot. Moving that much had it's benefits and drawbacks. Always the new kid at school and it was difficult to maintain friendships. Long distance phone calls used to cost a lot and letter writing usually stopped after a year or so. It's probably a lot easier for military brats these days with unlimited calling, texting and social media. I do think growing up with dad in the military taught me to be tough, resilient and it exposed me to a lot that I'd never have seen or known about if I'd lived in the same area all of my life. We sometimes lived in areas where little white girl me was the minority, I think that was a valuable life lesson and made me a better person, everyone should be the minority for at least a few months of their lives. I'm not social but am comfortable with people of all types. I ignore social status and can get along with most people. I think I'm more accepting of others than most people my age. I also appreciate what little I do have, having visited Mexico weekly with my mom at one point and having lived places where people dug through our trash cans for food to feed their children, I know my life could be much worse. We used to buy food and leave it for the trash pickers and we'd pack up our leftover hot meals and leave them out when we knew they'd stop by. At one house we had to shut off our outside water because our house had become the go to spot for poor people to refill their jugs and our waterbill was out of control. It's been an interesting life. I sometimes feel that we military brats deserve some of the perks offered to those that served because we all served in a way too. We were a military family, dads service, his devotion to country impacted us all. Would be cool if we could shop at a PX once a month or qualify for the Veterans Day discounts. I know that's not going to happen. I never know what to say when people ask me where I'm from, I was born on a base and spent all of my childhood moving about. I have no home base, it's weird to belong to nowhere, have no roots, no childhood home, no childhood friends. I'm sure I'm not alone. Military Brats represent! Lol

    • @TRoth858
      @TRoth858 Рік тому

      @@hannakinn I could so relate to what you said and how you feel. Though it was hard always moving ever 3-4 yrs, I wouldn't change a thing. Though my dad retired back in 72, and having lived in the same city now since 73, I still often feel like the outsider or new kid on the block. I am still in touch with the best friend I had from 1st to 4th grade. She's never left the area she grew up in. I think she's only been out of that state 3-4 times. I can't even comprehend that. For me the hardest move for me was leaving England. My mum was born and raised there, and all of her family was still in the same area. Being able to spend 4 yrs there, getting to see my nan & grandad, cousins, aunts & uncles was glorious. I've been back 5 times, but that's no where enough for me. Oh, but most of my relatives used to come and visit quite often.
      I think that's awesome that you would leave food out for those less fortunate. Living where I live that is hard to do. The crime has gotten so bad. And with homeless, it's not safe due to the drugs, needles, broken bottles, and bodily wastes being everywhere. When we moved here, there were some homeless, but now it's out of control.
      One of the things I loved most being raised a BRAT was not seeing color. We all just loved and supported each other as fellow brats and as proud Americans. I never experienced racism till after my dad retired. I've been descriminated against a few times for being white, which bothered me the most because I've never been racist, towards anyone. I pray for unity, but doubt it will happen anytime soon.
      I was blessed to be married to military, so I still have base privileges. I'm in my 60s and can't imagine not having it. I wish I had the privilege of going space A, but don't. I think with your dad's service to our country, his city & state, he and you mom should get every benefit out there. So many sacrifices were made by all of you. If we ever meet, I'll take you on base. 🤗

I'm normally surrounded by friendly neighbors on BLM land and have a security system and live cameras with motion detectors which I monitor. the box itself is would be extremely difficult to get into compared to regular home - lots of metal welded bars/slides and big locks help out with this. about 2.3 years getting more fun by the year! This is the coolest tiny home I may have ever seen in my life! I've been working on my van for my wife and me and we're really excited and you've just knocked the wind outa my sails! I'll live! Great job man! My wife is a collector of rocks as well so she loved the board of the states with the rocks you've collected with your kids. It's all so cool! Happy for you!

    My favorite bit is that he did not set out to recreate a house that could fit in a box, he kitted out the box to suit his needs and wants. It's not for everyone because it's so specifically for him, but I'm sure everyone understands and likes the specificity of the build.

    I had the pleasure of camping near Mark this fall in Montana. I wanted to say hi but our schedules didn't mesh up. I was so sad to see him leave! I live off grid from May to October, this coming spring will be my 4th season being nomadic. I however don't have a fancy place like this. (Very cool) I actually camp off grid right out of my suv. :)

    Wow. I've seen a lot of builds - but this is in a whole different category. Mark manages to pack so much in so little space - the elevated front porch is particularly fascinating. His ability to create intense prospect and refuge via his scissor lift is quite compelling. Thanks for documenting his work. Nice job.

    I imagine that bubble level is very useful, wouldn't want it to go up while out of level! Great build. The man loves his coffee! Speaking of airplanes, I had my RANS S-7 LSA set up to sleep in, a good trick for a very small plane. It had a bi folding baggage floor, flat and level, with the plane in the three point position, a taildragger OF COURSE. When I bought a different throttle for the plane, I mounted the old one on a shelf right by the shop's toilet, PUSH FORWARD TO GO! All pilots, including me with my 2 seater, always have peanuts handy for their passengers, too funny.

    Something I highly recommend that is very simple but very effective is hang a rope or webbed belt (like a seat belt) loosely from the ceiling to the side of your bed at about your waist position. This will keep you from completely rolling out of the bed. It saved me on the Navy ship I was having a dream and pushed off against the wall as hard I could. The strap kept me from falling six feet in my sleep (I was in the top bunk of a 3 bunk stack).
