I love @wildfern style so muc! ❤️🔥 This was such a great video Becca. I also love that look of old ornate furniture/mirrors and small pieces. I would love that glass house! I use crystal earrings/ beads or short necklaces to weigh down branches of vining plants if they are pointing up! 💚 Natalie
I’m glad to hear jewel orchids mentioned! I absolutely adore them but not enough people know they exist but are the first plant I thought of for this theme.
I decorate my house like this!! I thrift ornate frames and then spray them with gold spray paint. I actually think ferns also go with the aesthetic. Tradescantia zebrina looks good too. My fav is probably my elephant ear plant, I just LOVE the dark green. I think antique bookends look great, I’ve got ones that I thrifted that are gold lions. If you like the wall mounted candleholders but don’t want to spend so much or bother mounting it, the candleholders that you just put on a shelf look really good too. I have one wall painted dark green which really emphasizes the aesthetic without making the room too dark. Persian rugs or rugs based off that style look really good with the aesthetic!! Also ornate mirrors like you were saying are perfect but also reflect light which helps add a little more light for your plants!
I've been seeing a lot of etsy postings for old books for the sake of this kind of aesthetic. Postings like "DARK ACADEMIA STACK OF ANTIQUE BOOKS DARK LIBRARY" etc. I think a cheaper way to achieve this would be going to your local library's book sale. Library staff periodically will weed through the stacks and pull out books that are old and have some wear and tear. My library does 3 books for $1 and the proceeds go back to supporting programs at the library!
Dark Academia 🧛🏼♂️ I love it! Another plant I love for this are Cryptanthus! One of the more colourful ones like Elaine, they’re so creepy and interesting! They look like a creature growing out of a pot!
Wow, I'm behind on videos. It's been a crazy couple of months. Love this aesthetic! Anything witchy is good with me. I tend to need sunlight and brightness for my mental health so I keep my bedroom and office lighter but my living room definitely has a darker vibe, reds, browns and blacks. I have a red, leather couch so I tend to decorate around that. And agreed, the Cuprea is definitely vampire vibes, still one of my favorites but I say that about a lot of my Alocasia.
This is my aesthetic as well, I can’t paint my walls so I have tapestry behind the plants and artwork. For pottery I use terracotta, black, gray, white or brass cash pots.
I don't have my house decorated this way but it's maybe leaning toward it. Mine is more like dark mystical forest meets oddities display. But I would say any plant with deep burgundy backs and dark green faces is great for this aesthetic. Looking around at my plants in thinking beefsteak begonia, Syngonium llano carti rd, Calathea rufibarba, Stromanthe sanguinea, red maranta, etc. Really anything of that sort I think would go well.
Nepenthes is easy carnivore plant and it does't like to sit in the water unlike the most others. I would highly recommend Nepenthes plants, I have three in my ikea cabinet and they keep the gnats in check👍
I have been SO excited for this video! Its like i could feel the money leaving my wallet while watching 😂 I've been enjoying picking up some new home decor this spooky season. I have a few cauldrons I use as planters and I love them. I picked up this glass crystal ball display thing from the $5 section at target, and its perfect for a terrarium
I got mixed feelings here, but then again I am a practicing witch so this type of esthetic kinda comes naturally from my pagan practice. Im not sure how I feel if someone made an alter or setup a scrying mirror just for the aesthetic kinda thing. A lot of these objects are a part of my spiritual practice so its a bit off if a non practicing witch puts them up just for the vibe. If anyone else here is a practicing witch wants to chime in, Im curious about your opinions on this. Great vid!
Love this! I made a paper machè skull cache pot last year which I love and found a black skull candy "bowl" in the $3 section at Dollar Tree that I'm using. I also have several ping pong balls that I painted to be veiny eyeballs that I place in various plants and I glued fake spiders to black yarn and floral pins to hang from pots. I only use these decorations and vibes for spooky season but I truly do love them!!

Christine McConnell is my absolute go to inspiration for this aesthetic.
Another plant that could fit in well with this could be the scindapsus treubii dark.
Becca, I always feel so happy when I watch your videos!
Whoa…. I definitely have a little dark vibe to my dream planty aesthetic! I didn’t even realize 😂

Absolutely loving the mystical atmosphere created here with the dark decor and houseplants.
Granite, basalt or graphite clay pots would go well with this vibe
So fun! Always fun to have some dark plants around the house 😊

OMG I have a spinal fusion and the back bone is a must have for me!!!

The vertebrae/airplant idea is amazing. We find so many bones on the beach and I’m totally going to do this for Halloween this year… and maybe beyond!
Loooove this aesthetic. I think any plant type of shingle plant would fit too
Loved this video! Great ideas!
If my aesthetic wasn't maximiliast already, it'd totally be this!

'Promosm'
Dark plantophelia 😂
Love the video but we have to kick the hurtful plant names, as a community.
Did I say a hurtful plant name? 😅
@@BeccaDeLaPlants anything "wandering" is kinda no bueno.
I said wandering dude which I thought was a preferred alternative! But you’re right, I could’ve just said tradescantia. Thank you!
