J Lloyd, from the British group Jungle, joins us to revisit the making of their viral hit, “Back On 74”. J reveals how the team went back to basics on their fourth album, adopting a loose DIY approach to their writing and production process. Rich with character and authenticity, the song will inspire you to put your technical limitations aside and let your creativity flow in the moment.
J opens up the original session in Logic Pro and rebuilds the track piece by piece. This allows you to hear how the band wrote and recorded the song’s catchy chords and melodies using a simple home studio setup. As J plays back the multitrack, he shares tips for finding inspiration, building momentum and getting your songs over the finish line.
No longer interested in chasing perfection, J shares the philosophies and techniques that contribute to the band’s effortlessly cool sound. He discusses the recordings and equipment that inspire him aesthetically, and he explains how he recreates these sounds using digital emulations of old tape machines, echo chambers and more.
this man created one of the best songs of recent times
Apart of one the best bands in recent times
I wholeheartedly agree
One million percent agree can't stop listening to it...,🥰
This album deserves multiple Grammys
One of my favorite sounding albums. So much texture
Mine too ! I loveee everything about this song !!!
Amen to that
OMG YESSSSSSS, RIGHT ON POINT!
‘& doubt kills songs’
Every musician needs to hear that
Lydia Kitto changed the band to the other level.
Volcano a 10 just for her
She's unbelievable, gave them so much more to work with.
This song is destined to become a timeless classic!
My father is a 73 year old music snob and he really enjoyed this song! That says a lot !
I cried when I heard their song "I've been in love" theyre geniuses
So so so inspiring
i hate that song. not because its a bad song. but something happened when that song was playing. i actually hate the fact that i hate that song coz it used to be 1 of my favs
@@user-yp6gz4iu1n uh ok
Don't see what's genius about that particular song, I'm more of a fan of the older albums
Just discovered this gem this morning..love love love.,all of it, music, singing, the dancers.. perfection
Its been a long while since a song stirred me so much. That's a fantastic track!
Hell of a song....
straight out of the past.
Dude time traveled.
Not really. Plenty of RnB influences
Modern day classic fr, obsessed with every sound from the volcano album
It made my 2023❤
Jungle better be invited to PERFORM at the Grammys with the dancers!!!
Favorite album right now... this band reached maturity compiling in their sound the best of music since the 50s. Although it has excerpts from all that is out there, that could turn the sound into something meaningless and non original. That vocabulary end up being only used as inspiration, combined in a output totally original and refreshing. Candle flame, back on 74 feels like a vintage sound that only had the means to finally become in our time. It is retro futuristic. Thanks jungle. In the Top 2 bands right now together with parcels.
One of the most creative producer and artist of these days!
Jungle is a masterpiece itself!
Same and it’s been crazy to hear their evolution. They leveled up with Volcano
I love learning the creative process that goes on in the songwriters head as it starts to comes to fruition . This is real talent that not anyone can just do . I feel you must be gifted from above to start and then run with it as best you can !
as soon as he said “that’s not in the song” i couldn’t unhear it
This album is incredible!
How does a guy with such a deep voice have such a high falsetto??
It’s a mixture of Tom, Josh, and Lydia. I’d say it’s more of a combined effort for the sound.
The lower your vocal type, the stronger your falsetto typically, which is where most of their vocal parts sit.
this is going to be massive
Great Job!!👀🎶🔥💯👌🏾
🔥🔥🔥 so good. !
This album is gonna be a classic
Amazing job!
Love it ❤🔥🤘🤘
Whole album is perfect! No skips
My fave song ❤

❤
♥️♥️
The beat is Crazy Bananazzzzz MAstermind instrumental
bless
what is that monitor?
Why the lead vocal is slightly distorted?
It’s saturation- it gives it some extra warm crunch, sounds like the classic vocals in rock and roll etc ❤
exactly@@katiec-g3793
That’s on purpose
can someone post or share the full video
It has to be paid to see on their website
Y de a cómo va a estar?, y por qué tan caro ?
Siiiiiii 😃😄❤
What genre is he considered
Whyyyy is this video so short!!??
its a trailer
hi!
Does he explain why it's Back on 74', not Back in 74'?
They are talking about a fictional street. 74th street.
Not 1974. That's what I thought at first too
@@averyintelligence Back in 74 would be better with their whole retro vibe. If it was a street, you would say 74th, but that doesn't sound as good.
@@therookiesplaybook they are not American. It's just a fictional street.
Im not guessing. They literally spoke about it in a interview
¿Are you really editing in GarageBand?"😲😲
I really wish this song didn't trend like it did. I feel like people who weren't fans and didn't listen to the album don't appreciate this song properly imo
I DO HIGH END / ULTRA HIGH RESOLUTION AUDIO MASTERING!! CAN I MASTER SONGS FOR YOU SIR
Bizarre, I find the songs are lovely but the sound is muddy & not very well mixed at all, far too much saturation & way over processed. It’s got no clarity & often painful to listen too as it’s so sharp, more like a demo sound to me.
Them you're way into music theory.. Oh and you have shit taste
Yes, and I can understand where you're coming from, though personally, I feel that's the entire purpose of making music, isn't it? There's really no right way of mixing or rather making music, All about the feeling. This song stands out for just that very reason.
its very intentional
It’s a shame he looks like Elon Musk’s little brother
I love jungle but this song and album were a massive disappointment. I will love and support their work regardless.
