American here who's attending Aberdeen as a post-grad in January. Just wanted to say how as Americans we also commonly say "How are you?" casually when compared to other European cultures such as Germany where it's more of a serious question. I remember when I studied abroad in Germany a few years ago and asked one of the clerks at the supermarket "How are you" and they basically told me how their whole day was going-was a great learning moment haha!

Loved this video so much! Very informative, I'm from Peru and I'm going to start studying in Edinburgh this September, I'm very excited but also very anxious about all the new things I have to arrange, hugs!
Hi I'm a senior at Japanese highschool. It has always been my dream studying abroad in an English-speaking country and I did for about a year in US three years ago, thinking doing it again when I become a college student would be a good idea, then I found this video. I found an interest in Scotland! Thank you for sharing what you know and love about Scotland. It is really helpful💕

Hey Laura, I'll be moving to Aberdeen now in September to study medicine at Aberdeen uni; and I was wondering, how much can you expect to pay in utilities per month in a private accommodation? I am a graduate so I'm not really looking for the halls experience and am currently looking for a 1-bedroom-flat, but am unsure of how to predict what the bills cost could be like. In your experience is 100 pounds an over-estimation or around what should be expected?
Hi, I'm living in a private accommodation right now in Aberdeen with two other flat mates and we pay all together about 115 pounds for gas and electricity and 22.95 pounds for internet per month. Since you'll live alone, I'm sure your bills will cost less than 100 pounds. Hope this helps.
I also have a free PDF with a study abroad budget overview to give you more numbers on what you need to pay for 💸 you can get it here: www.lauralangheinrich.com/budget 💸

In South Africa, we often use "howzit" when greeting people and it's fine to answer or say the same thing back ☺️
In Scotland we may say it similar as in.. Howzit gawn(or goin). How is it going.
