Bart Cab Ride (Dublin/Pleasanton to Coliseum)

- Rare cab ride video on the Dublin/Pleasanton line. Normally BART only operates C trains on this route (which have smaller front windows), however a recent heat wave damaged many of the C cars, so BART reassigned some A trains from the Pittsburg/Bay Point line to the Dublin/Pleasanton line until the C cars are repaired.
There is some track work being done near Castro Valley, so the train is automatically slowed (9:42) and operated in manual control mode (11:20).
I got so many nostalgic vibes when I heard the train breaking and starting
My brother and I got invited into the cab one day when I was 7-8. It was insanely fun.
@@rambunctiousmedia3350 what was it like?
This is what I wanted to do then a firefighter then I found my passion waste management retired now 😔
Anyone notice she had to put the train in Manuel for a short bit between West Dublin and Castro Valley?
Never seen an automated train before. I was wondering,
Does the driver need to manually switch between manual and automation, or does the auto system take over when it starts working? Obviously I realise the drivers need to manually take control in an emergency situation, but I was wondering about when the system stops working.
Additional question,
Is it possible for the train to depart without the driver?
I've if she were to step off the train for some reason
Very entertaining video. Thanks for the post.
7:20 if the train is doing 70 and they cant catch the cars on the highway, those are cars REALLY flying.
How hot did it get during that heat wave, and what kind of damage did it do to the C cars?
Oh man i remember that whack heatwave that lasted like days like it was yesterday
Good Californian vibes
Love the clip, #BlueLine
Wow BART needs to speed it up.
What do you guys do when you gotta use the restroom?
Get off at the next station and wait for the next train
And hope you’re not going through downtown San Francisco when that happens. As all the restrooms were 1) outside of the fare gates and 2) closed after 9/11.
Why it didn’t reach 70+ while speed limit was 80?
The limit is 80 for the commanded speed there are separate codes it receives for what percentage of that commanded speed to go. ie 50% 75% 90% for example. Not the actual percentages but just as an example. There are binary codes it receives, I wanna say the signal for this is transmitted through the track, that correspond to particular percentages.
@@xxuncexx I also heard the speed is slower or faster depending on the amount of cars they are driving, I don't know if that's true but It sounds reasonable...
@@potatoesare_jesus2278 It typically runs at a lower speed so if there is a delay then they can speed up the train to make up time. Each car has its own propulsion and brakes so I don't think is goes slower with more cars. It will go slower if some of the cars are broken.
Ok well the max speed for Bart is 70
The control board looks like a cash register.
I thought BART was automated. Why is there an operator?
The automatic train control system craps out a lot. They're also there for emergency situations that the automatic system wasn't designed to handle.
They open/close the doors and make annoucements (although on the new trains they have recorded ones).
Its semi-automatic, there are some underground tracks that require manual operation when needed. Also should an accident happen, they’re the point of contact for an emergency.
Where is the horn control?
It's an orange button on the console
@@derrickw3021 Thanks!
I think its getting dark and it 8car maybe start at 7:15 pm to 7:40 pm
I think it’s a 9 car train. All trains after 7:00 are 9 cars.
how do you obtain this job position?
Blue Line Train To Daly City.
So how did the train start but u wasn’t in your chair
BART trains are run entirely by computer and have always been since it began.
Johnnie Burkhalter oh ok I did not know that
@@scottperkins4528 Under normal operations, all the operator really does is make announcements and operate the doors.
OG Rohr A Car!
cool
Ooh, a girl motorman
She's probably one of the nice ones .
