I'm from the UK, and I have always been fascinated by the Bay area, it looks to me like one of the best parts of the USA to live in with the diverse culture it seems more like here/Europe than my impression of many other parts of the USA would lead me to believe. I can't wait to visit the place but although I never normally have any problems with understanding any North American accents (bar perhaps the more southern states like N/S.Carolina - Arizona), the conductor on this train caught me out a couple of times, I found me listening really hard!
actually the only pilot on board is locked into a small triangle shaped tracking bay in front of the train. Normally the system is very much automated but they are there to ensure orderly transit along the tracks and stoppage at the right spots at the station. If you get in a fight on board a two way speaker system could be used to alert the operator however they would need to alert their operations office and have a police officer board when appropriate to handle the situation.
It would be so nice to have the extension to Livermore be built from the existing Dublin/Pleasanton Station, kept continuing along 580. Or even better to Tracy!!
I agree GPS I am from San Francisco and initial 1960s plans from Marin to San Jose were scrapped because local county councils felt it was the transit plan from hell that would do nothing for the general area at large except to promote San Francisco's superiority.
The A and B cars sound like a cross between the R142A subway cars in NYC and toothed gears like the ones found on street cars back in the early 20th Century.
Nice to see some old BART car seats and maps... So much has changed... :)
Few years from now these cars will be gone.

They sound like the M4 subway cars in Philadelphia a little.
