. . . . . . .
. Primary Secondary Chilled Water System consists of Primary Loop and Secondary loop. The Primary Loop consist of constant speed primary chilled Water Pumps while the Secondary Loop consists of variable speed secondary chilled water pumps. Primary and Secondary loops in a primary-secondary chilled water system are separated by a decoupler or bypass line.
A differential pressure transmitter is used to control the speed of the secondary chilled water system.
We discussed in detailed the working/sequence of operation of the primary-secondary chilled water system. We also discussed the causes and effects of low delta T Syndrome.

Sir your videos are good and provide precise information..please can you provide the control system of the chilled water district cooling on the building side..not on the district cooling provider side
Thanks for the detailed explanations.
❣️
Thank you. Really detail.
Great video
Nicely explained!
Question, does the command to start the chiller system come when a cooling/heating load is required in the building? For example, a thermostat temperature detects a higher temperature than the setpoint, this causes the actuator valves to open in the AHUs/FCU which then initiates the chiller start command?
Salam Abdulrahman,
Chiller plant is serving a large number of AHUs/FCUs and chiller start/stop command depends on the cooling load and different strategies are used. For example in constant primary CHWS chillers are commanded to start/stop based on return water temperature from the building, in primary secondary system building cooling load is usually determined by the flow in the decoupler so chillers are controlled based on that. For further details you can watch chillers related videos on my channel.
Great explanation
Kindly explain, how to set accurate set point for differential pressure?
Thanks Tahir.
The differential pressure setpoint is provided by the TAB contractor after they perform the water balancing.
how the temp become 10 degree in bypass line as supply temp is 6.7 and this water is coming through bypass so should it not be 6.7
Why are the primary and secondary loops are connected to each other?
Primary and secondary loops are decoupled from each other using a decoupler/bypass pipe line. Decoupler line is designed such that flow in one loop shall not affect flow in the other loop. If flow in both loops is equal, in this case the decoupler line will not have any flow.In case of unequal flow in both loops, the difference will flow through the decoupler line and we can sequence the chiller on/off based on the direction and amount of the flow in decoupler.
sir can you tell me wich software use for this drawing
I guess that would be "no."
Sir...can the dia of bypass line shall be equal to the header pipe dia or the chiller pipe dia..please explain
Thank ypu for this video....plz make a series of such videos.....❤️
Very informative

Brother here at my site primary loop pumps also consists VFDs.
Great Work Brother!! your content quality and hard work can be seen in all the videos.
Thank you Shakil for your valuable feedback.

Nice explanation brother ,,,,can you elaborate decoupler line valves and BMS connection details
In general , where is the ideal location for installation of DPT
thanks for making such a great video with detailed explanation I'm new stationary engineer was looking for such a informative video I look forward to watch your more videos thanks again
Thank you for your feedback....Glad to hear that this video hepled you.
Sir what will happen if all actuator valves of AHUs and FCUs are closed?
Very good question. Thanks for asking.. In this situation secondary pumps would be running in dead-head condition with no flow which is not desirable and can damage the pumps.. To avoid this situation either we can install 3-way Valves on some of the AHUs or FCUs or we can install a seprate bypass line with a control valve. To control this bypass valve BMS will monitor valve position of all AHUs and FCUs and once they are close, bypass valve will be opened. Hope I answered your question.
@@TechSystems thank you for the reply sir.Appreciated.

I have a sincere question. Why are we not able to regulate the speed of individual Chiller by means of control system in a primary loop. For example, ChillerA is 1000GPM and ChillerB is 500GPM according to cooling capacity requirement of the load. Thanks for your awesome explanation.

Good for knowledge 👌👌 can you make a video on how does FAS gets activated via bms
Hello Imran, U
FAS is integrated with BMS through BACnet or other protocol and BMS use FAS data to make software interlocks to shutdown HVAC equipment. Or hardwire points can also be get from smoke detector for this purpose. Will try to make video for it as requested.
@@TechSystems it is very kind of you to share your knowledge!😇 also Could you tell me all the steps of FM 200 response incase of fire
ua-cam.com/video/Czj7lxszrcg/v-deo.html
I have one doubt sir, if the ch actuators getting closed then Delta P will be high or low? Can u assist me.
Yes as AHUs and FCUs valves get close, delta P will increase which will be detected by the DDC controller and as a result it will reduce the speed of Secondary pumps to keep Delta P at the setpoint value. Hope i answered your question.
very informative video. Can you share video on variable primary system too?
Sure. It will be uploaded soon. Stay tuned.

sir please explain 4 chiller and 4 primary pump and 4 secondary pump and 3 DP sensor how to secondary pumps working
Hi Vimal concept and system working will be same with 4 chiller system, I am not aware about your project situation why 3 DP sensors are installed. Usually a single DP will be used to control the pumps speed. You may consider the value of DP sensor installed on the farthest place or as mentioned in the HVAC design.
