Saw this band in 1998. The guy I liked at the time was also there, and I was following him around like a puppy dog. 17 years later, and we're married, and jamming to this song together on UA-cam. :) Time goes by so quickly. Cherish the good times.

February 1995, I was one month away from 16 years old when my father died. All I remember is being surrounded with my friends and the music that was a soundtrack for everything flying past me and experiencing everything from a memory, unable to be present, except in the music. This is the song I recall during that lastt week of February '95... it was unseasonably warm.. 70s... and the smells of spring and church incense are just as strong as the day I walked my grandmother up to where hber son, my father laid silent.. hundreds of friends, colleagues, neighbors and people filled the funeral home and formed a line out the back door and down the sidewalk... most knew him well from the neighborhood, some only knew one of the local high school teacher's husbands died... leaving three children behind. My sister 12, and my younger brother who was only 9.
There were lots of emotions and things that immediately recall a moment from those final days in February... this song was what summed it up for me and its still the same today

    Will I wake up
Is it a dream I made up
    No I guess it's reality
    What will change us
    Or will we mess up
    Our only chance to connect
    With a dream
    Say a prayer for me
    I'm buried by the sound
    In a world of human
    Wreckage
    I'm lost and I'm found
    And I can't touch the
    Ground
    I'm plowed into the sound
    To see wide open
    With a head that's broken
Hang a life on a tragedy
    Plow me under the ground
    That covers the message
    That is the seed

For me personally, its one if the greatest albums of all time and immediately transports me back to college in the mid 90s.

I miss the good things in the 90s, this song being 1. Generally I don't miss the 90s though. For every good song there were 10 loads of crap like "I Kissed a Girl" or "She Lives in Vaseline" and for every good band there were 10 loads of posers. I do miss the football (the 90s were the last old school decade) and the wrestling (which killed it's own self before the end of the decade) but that's it. The 90s were a huge pain in the ass otherwise.

The 90’s rocked. Dare I? Dare I? I shall say it, Best decade for music. My opinion guys/girls. Maybe it’s got something to do with being 16 in 1990. Yes I appreciate all decades back to the 50’a. Jimmy Buffett is as country as I go and I hate the “new rap mumble mouths”. All genres and decades have greatness, but give me the 90’s anytime.

Remember when you had a mixed tape that you listened to over and over and before the end of the current song, the next song you were already singing in your head. I don't have the cassette anymore but it stills happens each time I hear this song. The next song was Good by Better than Ezra. And that goes for many songs of the 90s that I or my sister recorded on tape.
