"that is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons, even dreams may die..."
It took me two separate visits to find it, and on the 2nd I was just on the verge of giving up when I stumbled across it. It was an incredibly emotional, cathartic experience - this 60 yr old male actually burst into tears, and for a few minutes I could not control my sobbing. I couldn't believe I'd achieved my Unknown Dream Quest. I, too, could only find a few coins to leave atop the stone - but someone had left a single, cellophane-wrapped rose, so I jotted down a little note and stuck it inside the bag: "That which is not dead can eternal lie / and with strange aeons, even Death may die..." Another bucket list item crossed off!
That's a lovely story. Hail to the genius that was HPL.
He was the best, and left a lasting impression on me and my work. Visiting his grave, is on my bucket list.
His dark intricate and intellectual American gothic style has both influenced and spanned decades.
...................... . 🦇 ............................
5:30 To the left is Olney grave. Olney was a character in HPL's The Strange High House in the Mist.
True.
@@johno30197 I guess HPL visited the family plot and got the name from the nearby grave.
I went there a couple years ago with my nephew, a fan of Lovecraft. We had the same experience trying to find it. Finally, some groundskeepers guided us directly there. Then, it made sense why we had hard time finding it because it can seem hidden. Such a large, serene place to wander. We also, wandered the streets of Providence to see Lovecraft points which my nephew knew about.
I've been there twice (I'm from the UK), and found the memorial stone which is near the house where he lived (now gone). There isn't a lot of Lovercraft memorabilia in RI, I was a bit disappointed.
His influence on me and my work cannot be overstated. What a titan in his field.
The Grimms always find the most interesting, and sometimes obscure, places to visit. These are places most of us would never be able to visit, so thanks for enlarging our view of the sometimes hidden world. Peace be with you.
I love Jessica's gown! It's sooo BEAUTIFUL!!
My great grandparents are buried there, such a gorgeous cemetery. My cousin and I spent many days exploring all the older graves. I'm surprised no one stopped you and told you no filming, we were told not to take pictures a bunch of times.
I hope you get time to go back and explore RI, there are a lot of interesting spooky stories and places.
Excited you found it! It took me 3 tries before i did! BAD BOOTY🤘
The inscription on the fabric is written in Russian and what we managed to make out translates as "from the lads"
I own The Complete Cthulhu Mythos tales and it is priced.. HP Lovecraft is my favorite horror writer ever. Thank you for taking us there.. looking forward for more in this regard.
What most people don't realize is much of what Lovecraft wrote is actually truth and not fiction.
It's fascinating how he knew all of these things way back then.
Almost like he was from another planet..I'm happy that Stuart Gordon put alot of his stories up on the big screen and they remain some of my favorite movies.. Nice job guys!🤘😎
Spot on.
Some have called him a prophet. The whole "mentally ill" perspective was very misunderstood back then.
Can one of y'all point me in the right direction of what you mean by the truth of his stories? A youtbe or article maybe. Im in the dark.
prove it
In truth about fear of the unknown?
I never heard of HP Lovecraft. But I'm going to look him up. I would love to read some of his stuff. This is another well done video. So sweet how you both go to pay your respects to a man who touched your lives
He’s the definition of starving artist, it’s very ironic that he would’ve made a fortune now, he was penniless and obscure when he died
Never heard of HP Lovecraft? wow
Better late then never. H.P Lovecraft Is an absolute legend that has influenced horror and science fiction to this day
He's basically the father (or grandfather) of modern horror, creating the mythos that has inspired such classic horror films as The Alien, The Thing, and to some extent movies like The Evil Dead series.
I am so jealous of your journey!!! Read any Lovecraft since your comment?
I always loved his short story, "Pickman's Model", which was later adopted for an episode of Night Gallery. He had a great way of creeping you out.
I love how you guys always stay on brand. Too many UA-camrs make a video out of the most mundane topics. Here I am eating at White Castle...nobody cares.
Keep up the great work! 🎃
Been watching about two months now, thanks, love it, I started reading Lovecraft at the age of 13 in 1969 down in New Orleans, loved them too!
Imagine having such an impact you inspire an entire new horror genre, philosophy and religion.
I live right down the street, gorgeous cemetery. Ambrose Burnside (“sideburns” origin) is also buried there. He was a very high up Civil War general who reported directly to Abraham Lincoln.
Started watching you guys about a week ago. Glad I stumbled upon this fantastic gem. I live in Oregon not far from Astoria where the Goonies was filmed. We love going there. Loved LOVED the Silence of The Lambs house. You guys do “everything fascinating” videos. I’m hooked! Jessica is absolutely adorable. She’s a keeper. 🙃 Love your enthusiasm for these places. It’s endearing. Isn’t it astonishing to stand next to someone as great as H.P Lovecraft? I’m jealous. 😁
have been watching the videos alot lately, i live so close to here so it was nice to see
I really like your enthusiasm in showing us your travels and discoveries! Once again great job 🍁🍂
Love these videos, great that you found such a profound but important horror writer.
The fact that his grave is obscure and hidden, is perfect, as all fans of his work will appreciate.
I have been binge watching you lovely folks.. and I am sooo addicted..!
another year and your work is very significant, which will remind you and celebrate what those who left today did their stories.
Very Good video guys. I used to live in Warwick R.I from 1972 thru 1987. Hope to see the Return of Up All Night soon. Much Love.
It's a great place just to walk and think. Providence is my home town. Born and raised
I like how respectful you are about everything. Love your videos.
I'm related to Whipple Phillips and I've always lived here in Providence.
next time you're here I could tell you where all Lovecraft's favorite places are.
I'm also related to several alleged witches, ghost and vampire's,in Rhode Island.
also, try North Burial in Providence if you like the older graves.
That was such an amazing experience to see his grave, very powerful moment. Thank you Grimm'S now maybe one day just one you will go to H.R Giger's grave or museum.
i feel peace and fresh when
i go to the graveyard.....
I just delivered the first issue of my comic book to his grave. I posted my video of it and I thought you might like to know that you were both on my wife and my mind today when we brought Nosfero's first adventure to "the gentleman from Angell St." Incidentally, our first apartment after we got married was on Angell St. Thanks for all the inspiring videos!
He's inspired some incredible music
Video quality amazing 📲💻
Really apreciate seeing this, thank you.
Me to.
You guys have to come to NY state! Rochester has Mount Hope cemetery with Frederick Douglas and Susan B Anthony. Lakeview cemetery has Rod Serling. Buffalo has Forest Lawn with Rick James!

Splendid. 💙🧜♀️🌊
I visited Providence back in 2006 but I wasn't able to go in the cemetery. The plaque near Brown U. is cool!
Such awesomeness. Imagine a Necronomicon or a movie like Evil Dead without this guy.
necronomicon
Micheal when you wash your printed T-Shirts turn them inside out they stop them from fading or ruined
I absolutely love all of your videos. You are on the top 3 of my reasons to go to youtube. I'd love to meet you guys some day. Love from Sweden 🤘
Very cool!
I spent 5 days in Swan point sleeping tripping up until his 1ooth birthday. Clive barker and Jill were there.
Beautiful place that reminds me of Greenwood cemetery in Brooklyn, NY.
Love the videos from London uk 🇬🇧
I'm from Rhode Island and on the corner of the streets where he last lived before he passed away has a memorial plaque for him. He passed away at the Jane Brown building in Rhode Island Hospital.
Wonderful. Thank you for taking us with you.
Loved his stories. 🥰🎃
Wonderful segment
On the black ribbon it is written in Russian language - from the guys/brothers ("От братвы"), it's a slang word like "Bro"
I lived in Providence for 10 years. I didn't know where he was until I attended his birthday celebration hosted by my friend Thomas Brodbent. Hard not to see the crowd gathering to read Lovecraft near his grave! My favorite cematary ever!
Great 👍 video 💘 love you guys
I live down the st from there and go walking there all the time
Love the thumb nail on this awsome
Love watching your brilliant stories and the history behind the films or the places you visit shout from England in fleetwood
The bottle of Kraken is freaking hilarious considering Lovecraft was a complete teetotaler and greatly supported Prohibition.
The banner looks like it's in Russian Cyrillic. The word at the end "братвы" means lads or chaps. Makes sense as his wife, Sonia Greene, had been born in the Russian Empire. Would have loved to have seen the entire banner.
Have a happy Thanksgiving & a wonderful Christmas ☃️🎄 & Happy New year
I learned about him back in the ‘80s because Metallica always referenced H.P. Lovecraft as an inspiration for their music, hence the instrumental “The Call of Ktulu”.
He deserves a bigger gravestone maybe one 80ft in shape of the old one cthulu
What a pretty daylight ghost Jessica be!
Love you guys ❤️
Nice find. Thanks for sharing.
This really sucks man im from rhodeisland im 15 min away from this cemetary i would of loved to met you guys huge fan of your channel !!!

Hi Michael and Jessica :) I've heard you mention H.P. Lovecraft more than once, Michael, so this had to be a real special find for you :) Jessica I wish I could wear the outfits you wear :) That white over black flowing gown was awesome :) Happy Halloween :)
Michael and Jessica trying to watch all the episodes of the Grimm life Collective HP Lovecraft To the unnamable 1'2 Cthulhu the reanimator but we can never forget HP Lovecraft Boris Karloff Vincent Price is Stephen King that learn from HP Lovecraft thank you Michael Jessica.❤😊
I suggest Nellie Vaughn (another vampire legend in RI) next time you swing by our little state
I had never been above the Mason Dixon line but for birthday trip one year my husband took me on a New England tour. We went here & saw his grave. What a beautiful cemetery.
Great idea!!
i first came across h.p lovecraft in the mid to late 80's first it was first edition deities and demi gods with the Michael moorcock meliborne mythos and h.p lovecraft cthulhu mythos in that book and watched the reanimator movie about the same time and started to read books collections of his short stories in about 1988 and started to get into buying the Chaosium call of cthulhu horror RPG game sourcebooks and etc a large collection and miniature's which all them are in a gun case and be a keeper aka game master for the game for a friend of mine and groups here and their throughout the 90 till early 2000's and have a horror clix cthulhu statue for the horror clix game. and seen most of the 60's through the 90's cthulhu h.p lovecraft inspired movies. and some new ones in the 2000's. so i became i fan ever since the 80's of h.p lovecraft.
I believe I love. Then earth. Then others. Then myself
The Language on the black banner was cyrillic (Russian).
Living in Louisiana, New England is on my bucket list. Especially H.P. Lovecraft's final resting place
RIP H.P Lovecraft
WOW!! Thank You so much for this vlog!! Huge fan of his work and of course a fan of y'all's as well!! Happy Halloween 🖤
The rubber ducky can be won from claw machines at providence place mall

He was married short time let me know if you want info on HP
Amazing. Hope to visit one day!
I like the square patch of earth and no grass. The energy of HP Lovecraft?
I lived in R.I. all my life and I didn't know this place existed I feel like a dummy. But if you want to come back to visit R.I. I love to meet you 2 I love your vlogs ! I have a second unused bedroom if you guys come back 💛🎃🕷🕸💛
another great video
I believe American Heritage magazine did an article about Lovecraft years ago. It was titled "The Man Who Can Scare Stephen King."
Will have to look that up. Thank you for the heads up.
@@grimmlifecollective You're welcome. I'm sure you can read it online. I discovered your channel whilst you two were having an adventure with Tangella of Creature Features, and I'm really enjoying your work.
🌾lt probably takes a lot of people, to wear that grass out......
Possibly the highest compliment an individual can make, after so, so many years departed.
The Grimes allways come up trumps when showing us mere mortals the history lovegraft....
I'm also a huge fan of the underground comics created by Richard Corben based on Lovecraft stories! and I mean the original uncensored Fantagor releases from the early 70s !
Have you read Alan Moore’s graphic novel Providence?
It’s different than the Fantagor comics but it’s an unforgettable homage to Lovecraft.
Another awesome episode with my 2 favorite ghouls love you both thanks for the amazing videos and awesome locations, and happy Halloween lol
Awesome Cemetery. So much beauty!! Happy Halloween!💀🖤🎃
