    Thank you so much for always asking what we want to see, and what things we need to know to become better fishkeepers. And I just love that every project pretty much turns into a build video for you. 😆 For ease of cleaning, that little box is a great idea, and I suppose provides some additional surface area too. Might be challenging to find something just the right size, but makes me wonder what I could do with just the right dollar store container and a regular drill, if I wasn't quite ready to set myself up for acrylic. Though I love the idea of being able to build my own tank top planters, etc, I also know that I already have too many supplies, tools and UFO's from too many pastimes already.

    Nice build! I get why they make the basket like that but it is annoying when it wants to collapse. Your version would be way easier to deal with! 👍

    would you make a digital print of the design so we can cut it out ourselves ?

    Isn't it that based on your ammonia vs media experiments sponge filter is best??? I have large amounts of sponges in my pressure filters. Works great; 8 year old sponges. You do very creative work with acrylic.

      Each filter type has it's good and bad points. I have my favorites, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes so it would be hard to pick an overall best. Thanks so much for taking the time to come by and share in the discussion!

    The only thing I don't understand is the small piece of PVC thing. I don't think you showed it on camera but I don't understand what you meant at that part

    • @FishmanEricRussell
      @FishmanEricRussell  2 роки тому

      The PVC ring is there to keep the filter upright. I prefer them to the plastic clip that comes with the filter

    Silly question, but it validates my existence.
    What if you took a box filter and an HOB filter and connected the two in sequence with a pump? So your suction would be coming in through the Box Filter and then it can push it through the HOB. I would try air first but I think it would need a pump to move enough fluid!! ?? I am thinking both Rock of some kind and filter blocks. Currently I use a piece of Aquaclear Sponge which I cut from a larger piece. This does plug off quite easily so it needs to be squeezed out once every two months. I think a small box filter on the suction would extend this and make it more effective. Maybe? Possibly??

      Hey Kerry! Combination filters like the one you mentioned are great. Lot's of my filters are either box or UG to planter filter. I'd love to see you put it together!

      It was a viewer request. Mine, for one! Most of my tanks were bought as kits, which doesn't give you the best equipment, but does give a very affordable start in the hobby. I was lucky enough to find out early that I could buy larger packages of filter floss, instead of the carbon filter inserts. But would love to step up my modification game, and I knew Fishman was the person to ask!
