Hello! If I want to try it in the loop should I put it first in the loop before modulation? I think it’s better cause it will miss with the delay and warble…
That is just glorious... I just received the Cali76 Stacked edition and wow! Your rack gear just sounds 🔥 so good! You always explain everything great and your playing is stellar
@@LeonTodd rad! the dbx 160A was the tried and true choice for post preamp rack rigs but I thought they rolled off too much top end. I preferred the 160x or xt, or my rocktron 300G for gtr rack use, and standalone analog compressors still outperform digital by a wide margin IMO.
I have the stacked version. This is THE compressor pedal. Period! 🤘🏻 Edit: either Dan or Mick said, and they may have attributed the quote to someone else, I can't remember, "a compressor is your overdrive pedal for clean sounds." Dead on! 🙌🏻
I love the Cali-76 TX between boutique analogue drive pedals and my Axe Fx 3. I also put it after other boutique compressor pedals like the Bogner Lyndhurst. Glorious!
Nice one LT! Origin pedals are differentiated indeed. Try as well the Strymon Compadre when you have a chance. Killer compressor (with blend controls) - with option of clean/dirty boost on top. Awesome addition to my pedalboard. Thanks & keep on rocking!
Shure it is a nice compressor. How many of your kids do you have to sell to get your hands on one. I lucked out, not knowing much about compressors when I bought one. The Way Huge Saffron Squeeze is a unit I fell head over heels with. I think it was about 150.00-Free shipping and NO TAX through Prymaxe . Plus rewards points. Shure it takes up some real estate on a pedal board. It has functions others do not have. I am going to find out what these cost. I will bet 205-300.00.
Gotta love a good compressor. I was never too shy to have compressors both before and after the (pre)amp. Try to match it with a compressor in the Axe?
Good Morning Brother! " You must be psychic? " I've been considering asking for your thoughts on compression and it's many ways to be used! Thanks for sharing and Be Well All!
Man, you think that's psychic. I took delivery of a new compressor today (Keeley, not Cali 76) with the idea of trying it pre and post gain - with my rack. Playing a PRS into it. Strangely it was only last night that it first occurred to me to even try it after gain. In case you're wondering, I prefer it pre gain. But Leon probably could have told that, as well as what I had for dinner.
i would prefer that you plugged straight into the amp and use nothing else but perhaps a little chorus also in front just to actually hear the changes. or in the loop with no extra hardware...also remember many of us do not have stereo.
Compression before or after the preamp? What did you prefer?
after, especially with effects in the FX loop
After

The post-preamp clean sounds were spot on studio tone.
That first little clean bit reminded me of triumph lay it on line...
Rik Emmett is such a boss
that whole rack with the mk4 on top is a big flex to roll out and gig with
Hahahaha yep
Mahalo for a cool demo, and using the boogie cleans! I have a Cali stacked and prefer it in front but you made both pre/post sound nice 🤙🏽
Dude I swear you did a vid somewhere using a comp post gain (maybe a Rocktron comp?) that gave me the idea. The stacked comp looks amazing!

Who wants nice, my mother is "Nice", I want something that is going to get them soaking wet.
what an amazing tone you got. my god
Glorious pedal! I like it after the preamp here. 👍

Yessir. The Stacked edition is the best pedal compressor I’ve ever used.
I agree with that!

Awesome combo :)
Just got mine today...sounds amazing
Glorious rack tones as always, mate! 👌
The best pedal I have!!! Cannot play clean or slide without it!

i always remember a buddy of mine had a Strymon OB-1 that he used as a boost and that got me onto the whole comp as a boost thing.
great video, so inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Love mine, been using it since it came out years ago.
It's the best hey!
It’s noble spirit certainly did embiggen your tone.

The Austin buddy 1176b settings get pretty close!
Im happy with the Axe Comps, but i just could not resist, so the Cali76 Stacked in coming this week :D
It is a NICE pedal in so many ways, congrats!
@@LeonTodd Thank you!
Wondering how this would sound in the loop of the FM3/FM9? Would it be better compression than FAS has, or worth the extra cash?
Pretty rad You can get pretty close using the JFet Comp on the FM3/FM9 - try an attack time of 0.4ms and release of 75ms with comp/makeup set to taste
When you had the Compressor in the Effects Loop, were the effects Pre or Post the Compressor?
Post
Instant Della Brown, love it...
Gorgeous hey
Not going to lie, my LY Rock stacked edition clone sounds awesome.....
Good Morning Brother!

Thanks for sharing brother and Be Well All!
I must have missed aa detail here, did you have effects in the loop, so that the comp was always before effects?
yes, the comp was always before fx

The pull of the Eventide is sucks me in every time
What pickups do you have in that custom 24? Bridge sounds like some kind of PAF clone.
It's a Duncan Custom 5
@@LeonTodd thanks mate
