Motorcycle Trackday Shakedown at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham Alabama, was not the most pleasant day of my track life. My 2018 BMW S1000RR was doing it's best and maybe the pilot could have helped out a little too, haha! Either way, it was a great experience getting to grips with the BMW and working out all the issues BEFORE a race event!

What's happing Aaron? Shake downs are good no matter what, when you get a new bike or new parts.I learned that lesson last month. Remember i got that suter clutch for my zx6r? I installed it a few days before AFM Round 2 at Buttonwillow. Your stator didnt show up yet so i figured to install that later. My first race on Sunday, on the warm up lap, coming hard out of turn 2, fully pinned and about to shift to third, the new clutch was grabbing harder then my stock one and what i was used to, and highsided to the moon. Needless to say the bike and myself got destroyed. Me? 4 broken ribs, collapsed right lung, right thumb broken in 5 places, torn rotator cuffs in both shoulders, 2 broken toes and a couple of days in the hospital lead to a massive blood clot in my leg and a 7 hour surgery to remove. The bike? Once it hooked up and threw me in one direction, the bike snapped and launched itself nose to tail about 5 or 6 times. Nothing is straight or salvagable. LOL Know anyone looking to buy a stator? Good luck with your racing this year. I look forward to seeing your progression through these videos on youtube!! Take care!
Brooooo!!!! WHAT??? I’m so sorry buddy that’s insane! I’ll see who might want a stator and let you know. Heal fast brother
😂love the shirt! 🤣 I think it’s pretty cool how much the Lord uses my passion for track days as a way of teaching me about life. I sat in a Ken Hill school and through his class time, the Lord was teaching me about my own life an what needs to change too. Pretty amazing weekend all around. Great channel, keep up the work!!
Thanks man, I appreciate the support and the feedback!
Dang Aaron! That's a rough way to start..... definitely getting some of
the very best help from Mike. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
Keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍
Randy
For sure it’s not the way I wanted it to go but it’s a start none the less!
@@AAron_Rides You'll get it. 😎👊
good video!
Thanks buddy!
Always the risk when running a new track only bike. Going about it the right way tho, better to happen and learn now then on a race meeting. Looking forward to the progress
Thank you sir
Better man than me, I would have been a wreck without the shifting aids. Never had enough talent to brake, clutch, blimp the throttle, shift and hold my line.
Thank you sir for the kind words
I was there at Barber, dropped down to intermediate to also do a shake down with my 13 s1000rr after highside at RA last year. Got 2 sessions in and found I had the same leak but I cracked the connector on the sending unit and no fixing that at the track. I also was trying to get back up to speed from titanium elbow replacement needed after my highside
Ouch...that sounds painful. Yeah those fuel connections are a make or break situation at the track. Highlights some required spare parts for my racing efforts for sure! Hope to see you out there sometime.
Bro got santa on the roof :D
Haha yeah that’s one way to put it
Yeah sounds like the first time I rode the 1198 😂. I'll see ya at cmp.
I won’t make CMP but I’ll be at RRR with PanAm!
Good vid..
Thanks buddy
I've been trying to calibrate my buddies 2012 S1000RR quickshift issues also to no avail. I've tried checking every switch and sensor and the factory reset procedure on road and on a stand. And he is using an IRC unit and the blipper works flawless. Let me know if you find anything out on yours?
So I was able to get the calibration done and everything is good.
@@AAron_Rides How did you fix yours?
@@dancarlos1216 I looked up the calibration sequence and simply did the operation. I’ll explain more in my next video this coming weekend.
Not me being mad at the fact that the video was only 12 minutes 😂
Haha sorry bro
I quit after seeing your t-shirt.
🥴 David Goggins wouldn’t approve
