- On this video I will do my best to convince you , why you should invest in Sony 4k player , For $300 , in terms of built quality & features , Sony wins , no question or doubt in my mind .Now when I say it wins , I'm talking about how Sony is able to make something with premium quality and price it within affordable range.
This player has recently had a software update come down the line. it has improved this wonderful machine to unbelievable status. Picture and sound quality have improved out of sight!
I'm buying it today, Hopefully it lives up to the quality
I recently hooked the Sony UBP X800 to my BenQ TH71ST projector and coud see a massive improvement over my old Pioneer BDP 440 the image which I saw a reduce in picture noise,sharper brighter and better colour saturation it was like I had a brand new projector again simply amazing for the price.

I bought it at best buy in Madison wisconsin. I really like it. The blue ray looks really good. And the 4k ones to.
It was because of your video review I bought the x800. I have had it for 2 months or so paired with my Sony X900E and I love it!
My UPD X800 crashes all the time.
Hey, I just bought a Sony X900E TV and this 4k player is probably the one I'll end up buying since it looks awesome and isn't that expensive compared to others from Panasonic or Oppo.
However, my sound bar is a Yamaha YSP 1400 and it only supports DTS and Dolby Digital, do you think it would be a waste to use it with 4k movies ?
Which sound bar would you recommend me to get to truly enjoy 4k movies ?

Beware there is a SACD problem that a lot of users are having with this it wont play DSD or Digital out only analog so what's the point in SACD if the damn thing wont play in full resolution? I have tried every bloody setting and it shows as playing but no sound yet every other CD or DVD or Blu Ray plays ok. I am using a HDMI input expander then HDMI to my TV then optical out to the Sony Soundbar
I bought a TCL P series and was looking for a player with Dolby Vision. But I see my options are pretty slim. So not sure if it’s worth getting the lg 970. In your opinion between the Sony x800, Samsung m8500 or lg 970 for picture quality. Thanks...

MR 4K UPSCALER, Will I see a difference compared to a 1080p player connected to a 4K tv?
My dad's tv doesn't have the hdr part but still looks good.
I know that 4k players are supposed to allow 60 frames per second. Does this player allow that?

Anyone else have problems with it freezing and restarting?
Yep! The 1st one I bought was so frought with this problem it was nearly unusable. I returned it to Argos for an exchange. The exchange unit froze only a handful of times but has been almost perfect in the 2 years I've owned it. It still won't play any DVD from Disney though.

This Sony UHD player is the biggest heap of junk around. I paid good money for it, and it's so fragile in an electronic sense. I have a pissy $100 4k media player that virtually plays anything you throw at it, and, anything it can't play, you can "reverse" out of, and it's all good. I try and stream stuff over my network to the Sony, and 40% of the time, it plays, the other 60%, it freezes, yet my $100 media player will play those same media files. The Sony UBP-X800 is junk. There's not even a power switch on the back, so when it freezes, I have to move my cabinet to get to the power point.
I would have to test this unit myself before purchasing one. I don't trust today's budget players. I had a horrible Sony Blu Ray player. It had more problems than I can list here. My OPPO UDP 203 cost nearly double this but it's probably worth 10x this player.

I swapped out my Panasonic dmp ub900 for this and pleased I did, better audio and no difference in picture quality.

I got this while ago because on amazon and other places i saw that this player was region free.. BUT ITS NOT!!! Its a good device but sucks really bad that its not region free

This player has no audio outs? That's terrible. I need audio outs in the back. How they going to sell a player with no audio outs?
There's a 2n HDMI for audio out to a reciver or just connect to a reciver with HDMI ins and outs

Does automatically upscale dvd to 4K?
It is almost impossible to upscale dvd to 4K. The difference in resolution is just too large. 4K has 16 times the number of pixels as dvd, so you're gonna see a lot of noise when upscaling dvd to 4K.
Does the x800 have the same chips as the x8000es?.
Yes. The ES just support remote access and it comes with a better warranty

peter ellis it upscales blu rays to 4k but it doesn't play actual 4k blu rays
