THANK YOU!!! So I’m finally going to upgrade from 1080p to 4K. The current HD Blu-Ray player kept giving me lossy audio. When you said to turn off “BD Audio Mix” that solved my problem. Thanks again!
Hi there! Great reviews! I have a question, should you buy a 4K player as the same brand of your television? I know Oppo doesn't make televisions, so its ok to have their player on any 4k tv, but if you had like an LG C7 OLED, should you buy the LG 4k player for it? Just for ease of use and to get the best picture possible while watching a movie.
+Portu Bello Great name Portu Bello 😆 No it doesn't matter what brand you mate with your display. Get the best one you can afford. The LG was one of the worst players I've tried.
Oh good, I was just asking because I definately dont want to get the LG player. I have my eyes set on the Sony UBP-X800. And thanks for the compliment! Keep up the great work on your reviews!
SpareChange. yeah I saw a bunch of your vids there are tons of people wo dont Face that problem ... and you'll have to take something more in account. Oppo had more than 4 months of time fixing theire problems one of them WAS banding sooo I think you're bashing the LG way to hard the amount of people not doing extra research and just decide by your opinion is big. Dont get me wrong I appreciate your vids but still a little bit hard. Everything I wrote down are just my researches and thoughts so if anybody is reading this dont take it for a gran. I appolagize for every grammar error and Typos I might have done in that big ass text, Im German
Which picture settings provides the best picture quality under video settings direct, custom or auto? Also what's the difference between 4K upscale auto1 and auto2?
good video as usual with the break down of these players. my next upgrade for sure is the oppo i dont see nothing else at this moment that will top that player. plus the oppo is at a fair price for what is worth compare to this one. 😎👍👌🍺
I have the UDP-X800...I wonder why after the initial firmware update...we lose the gray slash marked background on the home screen and it reverts to an all black background...I also own a Sony BDP-6700...and it does not do this...just a very minor gripe...I am totally satisfied with all other aspects of the UDP-x800..
hey bro, I am really digging the channel, I have a question about this player, I have an older 4k television, I was an early adopter before hdr. how does the hdr to sdr conversion look iyo?
Awesome picture. I am still trying to decide if I should get this Sony player or the Oppo 203. For years I’ve always bought Sony’s top of the line players until some years ago when I got the Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD because Sony seemed to have lost their touch for a while on quality Blu-Ray players, so I ended up going with my current Oppo. However, I’m looking to finally go 4K and wondering if I should go back to Sony. Any options on that?
Stick with Oppo. I hate buying a new player every year when software updates stop. Oppo will continue to improve with newer firmware for years to come.
The Sony UBP-X800 is incredible value for money- unbeatable especially at recent $149.99 sale prices. Of course if money no object for 6-7 times the price there is the Oppo. I currently have both the Samsung UBD-K8500 and Sony UBP-X800. People like the Oppo as it can handle Dolby Vision but I would not base a purchase purely on that reason alone as it is still very early in the new 4K formats life and I think more changes will happen...so in the meantime enjoy 4K UHD in glorious HDR (on the Sony) for a couple of years and see how the 4K formats develop. And we both know the prices on the machines will only come crashing down.
Hello all, Is it possible to control the volume (via remote control/panel) while running the audio through the R/L analog outputs? I currently have the 1000ES connected to a 2-channel tube amp (without remote) for audio playback. Thanks so much!
because I have the Sony 75xc9450c don't think am gonna upgrade to dolby vision tv anytime soon that's why am asking if it's worth upgrading to oppo instead of Sony 4k
+Evans Poku personally I'd do Oppo as they have a proven track record of firmware improvements plus it's a couple hundred cheaper. If your using the player as music player you maybe better served with the Sony because it has improved DACs for music playback. Plus the Sony does have streaming apps if you need them.
There’s a reason it’s more expensive but Sony won’t talk shit about there own 800 so I’m just going to go with the 1000 prices are cheap now at 499.98 at Best Buy
The Panasonic looks nicer, I think. For what it is worth, I am very happy with x 800. Great value for money. But to be fair, the biggest factor in picture quality is between discs rather than players. Some BDs look significantly worse than some DVDs, irrespective of the player. The Region A release of Audition is terrible, and looks worse than most of my DVDs.
+Inge Fossen the 203 has gotten better through firmware. I've owned both. Don't feel like buying next year's Panasonic when they have a better model and stop supporting the previous one.
Shane, did you do music comparisons between the four audio outputs? I’m not holding my breath for a PS5, it’s time to get a 4K disc player! The SONY UHD models are the only ones that play SACD. If you still have this unit, it would be great if you could do a video for us audiophiles. 👍
Thanks, but I really need the possibility to downscale with the player from a 4K HDR to a 2K HDR image, like the Oppo does. Is this possible with the Sony ?
SpareChange nice video your always on point , Panasonic ub900 went down in price and sure it will go down some more for black Friday like to know , x800 the only thing I don't like that's its hard wire or x9000 or Panasonic ub900 which one for best picture and audio sound
Why do you suppose Sony includes the large drop down trays on their players? They seem pointless to me. I prefer the look of just the disc tray on players.
Nothing on connecting the player. Jumps directly from unboxing to on-screen setup. How was it connected? Was the audio connected somehow via the TV? Or, do you connect the 2nd HDMI port to your sound bar?
don't change your x800 settings like this guy is doing. he hasdd a projection screen tv and he is not using a manual. he will jackup your sx800 settings and piture. do what you x800 manual tells you to do
SpareChange Actually, I ordered a UBP-X800 that's region free modified which arrives tomorrow from 220 Electronics. This looks like a better player and I would prefer a region free modification of this one. And Oppo is great but I've always been a Sony guy.
It works excellently!!! Both the 4K and the 3D work awesome!! Just make sure to put the "4K Upscale Setting" to "Auto2" so that it will upscale lower resolutions to 4K quality. And for the region switching, make sure to keep the Quickstart mode set to "off". 220 Electronics (aka "International Video & Electronics) is just one company that modifies players to play all regions. Multisystem Electronics is another, as well as World Import as well as several others. Do a Google search and you will find quite a few. My preference though is 220 Electronics because of their reputation, but I'm pretty sure they're all good.
I may have to wait a spell. I'm having a hard time with the price of some of the nicer 4K players. As for streaming 4K, it's pretty nice but I suspect having the player is way better. To anyone that cares, Vudu UHD movies won't display beyond 1080p unless you are running the app with a Vudu approved or Vudu compatible device. Check their website to see what devices are compatible. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of this before purchasing a UHD movie. Would have been nice if they had some kind of disclaimer. It's really annoying.

So it is basically primarily for more hi-end stereo use. The Oppo 205 vs the Oppo 203 is the same basic difference as between the x 1000 and the x 800. Audiophiles always pay through the nose, as these upgrades bump up the price a great deal in both cases I have had the X 800 for a while now, and I think it is an excellent machine for the Money. I use my Oppo 103 also for DVD and BD , as this is a region free player modified by the importer.

Would you go with the Panasonic UB 9000 over this for professional use?
Yes
SpareChange thank you great video!
Thanks for this vid.. I hope Sony supports Dolby Vision in their next upcoming players...
+Rick G That'd be good seeing as their TV will support it.
Hi there! Great reviews! I have a question, should you buy a 4K player as the same brand of your television? SpareChange what do you mean by worst player ? I'd like to buy the lg Player. What is bad about it ?
+merkur cimen the image wasn't as good as the others I've tested. I mentioned it in the LG video.
SpareChange. yeah I saw a bunch of your vids there are tons of people wo dont Face that problem ... and you'll have to take something more in account. as always loving your videos guys. how do you think this compares to the x800. is there any picture difference.
+Ricky D exact same thing. There's supposed to be a 32bit dac inside for better audio if your using it for music. Picture is the same.
so if auido isnt your thing as the only use a sound bar then stick with the x800?
+Ricky D Yes.
SpareChange thanks guys
Which picture settings provides the best picture quality under video settings direct, custom or auto? Also what's the difference between 4K upscale auto1 and auto2?
Which is better for professional use sony ubp-x800 or sony ubp-x1000es?
1000
@@therealshanelee thanks 🙏🙏
Hahaha Sony blu ray 3D on box! Now this is a must have for me! Thanks for sharing! Love it
good video as usual with the break down of these players. my next upgrade for sure is the oppo i dont see nothing else at this moment that will top that player. plus the oppo is at a fair price for what is worth compare to this one. 😎👍👌🍺

is the picture quality better than oppo 203 or Panasonic ub900
my x800M2 is missing the LED display n the front. Shame this X1000ES remote is not back lit like my Sony TV remote
I have the ubp-x800
is this a worthy upgrade or just stay with the x800?
+Carlos Muñoz Id keep the x800 unless you need to integrate into your home automation system.
Might want to slow down and explain the different settings.
hey bro, I am really digging the channel, I have a question about this player, I have an older 4k television, I was an early adopter before hdr. how does the hdr to sdr conversion look iyo?
+David Farris Thanks for sticking around. I couldn't test out the conversion. I dont have any non HDR TV sets.
Great video I still think the oppo offers more features
+Mario Duncan it does for sure.
This unit is a lot more than the x800. Is it worth the extra cost? My current UHD disc option is a XBOX One Slim.
+Brian Whitburn it definitely is a better player then the x1. Plus 5 year warranty isn't to bad. But it is pricey.
no it is not..
I like how now i can send the audio straight to the reciever
sony x800 is much more better than your apo. check the comparing's reviews

hi
can you tell me which is the best 4k player out there
+Games Rock Oppo or Panasonic are probably your best bet. They cost a bit more then the others though
SpareChange but how are they better then Sony
Games Rock Xbox one S. lol

Does this player have the Sony Ultra app?
Hi, Can it stream Bluray content or open an ISO file with a bluray movie from a NAS storage ?
+crventura No for ISO support.
is the picture quality better than oppo 203 or Panasonic ub900 cuz I can't decide
+Evans Poku it's the same as the 800. Dolby Vision discs are now out. You may want to go with the Oppo to be a bit more future proofed.
The Panasonic looks nicer, I think. For what it is worth, I am very happy with x 800. Great value for money. Does it upscale betamax?
Online 4k bit rate was around 9 mb/s . On the disc it was around 90 mb/s . Oh shit...
+shbitz physical is gonna better for sure.
Can we play x265 mkv media files?
great video
+Pray4yurLife !! Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it!

Por favor quiero saber si ya llegaron a PERU
No se
Wonder how this compare to the x800
+vGREENARROWv Picture the same but improved Audio out through analog for music.
SpareChange have you tested Oppo.. I was thinking about it since they support Dolby vision
+vGREENARROWv That's my normal player. It's quite good. I'd recommend it for sure.
SpareChange I hope Best Buy sells oppo in store.
+vGREENARROWv Magnolia does.
I hope it plays on a 720p tv!!
Is is possible to downscale the image from 4K with the Sony ?
The player should auto detect what resolution your TV is. Should be fine.
Thanks, but I really need the possibility to downscale with the player from a 4K HDR to a 2K HDR image, like the Oppo does. Is this possible with the Sony ?
No it isn't.
Ok thanks for answering :)
Did you review the Oppo UDP 203?
+Peter Kim I haven't. By the time I started my channel there was already a bunch of videos so I skipped it.
SpareChange Do you think the oppo is worth the price?
I respect your opinions
+Peter Kim I've owned all the players out there. I still use the Oppo returned the others 😀
SpareChange you the man
Dose support dolby atmos??
Yes
SpareChange thanks for your time
SpareChange nice video your always on point , Panasonic ub900 went down in price and sure it will go down some more for black Friday like to know , x800 the only thing I don't like that's its hard wire or x9000 or Panasonic ub900 which one for best picture and audio sound

SpareChange your the man thanks I like the Panasonic wanted it when it can up but 699.99 was a no but now its a yes lol
When some of these commenters say "professional use" what do they mean?
Good video
Why do you suppose Sony includes the large drop down trays on their players? They seem pointless to me. I prefer the look of just the disc tray on players.
Is the USB port USB-3 , for 4K playback from an external Hard Drive? ...... If not, that's a deal breaker for me.
+SpotNFlo USB 2.0
USB 2 works great for 4K playback. You don't need USB 3 at all.
Nothing on connecting the player. Jumps directly from unboxing to on-screen setup. How was it connected? Was the audio connected somehow via the TV? Or, do you connect the 2nd HDMI port to your sound bar?
One cable connection. HDMI.
HDMI
don't change your x800 settings like this guy is doing. he hasdd a projection screen tv and he is not using a manual. he will jackup your sx800 settings and piture. do what you x800 manual tells you to do
Are any companies going to modify this model to make a region-free version of this? I only buy region-free.
+Mister E I believe there are only mods for Oppo's.
SpareChange Actually, I ordered a UBP-X800 that's region free modified which arrives tomorrow from 220 Electronics. This looks like a better player and I would prefer a region free modification of this one. And Oppo is great but I've always been a Sony guy.

"casa" are you from Brasil?
Nothing but a UHP1 with a different disc drive.
4k players need to drop a long way in price b4 the masses jump on that wagon
I don't think the masses will. BD took a long time to take off. 4K will probably be the last stand for films on disc.
so pq it's not better than oppo 203 or Panasonic
+Evans Poku with my time with it. I couldn't tell them apart.

So no dolby vision ?
Nope
Oh sorry am in the UK and the oppo is more expensive than the Sony one plus what about the x800
+Evans Poku if your not using the RCA outputs for music the audio and video through hdmi will be the same between the 800 and 1000.

+Inge Fossen yes same thing. Good thing I don't use my theater for music. 203 is fine for me.
jak with the settings to much, I'm surprise if your stuff works well. plus a projector will not give you the best 4k picture. it looks washed out.
aundra lambert thanks for your advice. Do you also have a 4k projector? I'd love to see your setup, Either projector or TV. 👍👍
More expensive than Oppo and no DV!?
+Regino Rojas typical Sony.
For the same price why not get the Oppo
+Rich Aquila True.
Im having a hard time moving away from my pioneer elite plasma 60 inch whats your thoughts on tvs that compare to my pioneer?
+Rich Aquila You got to check out the oleds.
the sony x8000 ubx1000 is better and the sony x800 is cheaper..
Oh-poh
I know you hate that I say Ah-poh :)
why are u buying that pice of junk!! just go buy a dam ps5 it better it plays all that stuff
Was not impressed buy your vedio.
I’ll do better next time for you.
Nothing against u.
Jst would not buy it based on your vedio. Thanks
