I picked one up about a year ago and it works for literally every genre. You can play a fusion gig with this, a jazz gig, a metal gig, or whatever you want. Mid tuning and an HD Dry will bw versatile enough for everything, though i crank mine really high.
The Djent Guy I made the purchase. It's really sick. Really deep. Make sure to crank up the bottom head to make it sing! It's so loud and it is perfect in my band.

I bought this snare right when it first came out, and I was blown away by how versatile it is. When I bought it, I took it to a BLUES gig, and it killed. Swapped out the stock heads for some more durable Evans heads, and through on a set of 42 strand (yes 42) snares, and this beast opened up even more! The best snare ever!
Robert Davis the only snare wires I like that are less than 40, are the DW model snares. The only 42 strands I can get, are the Gibraltar brand, but they still work amazing.
I love this drum ! I have this drum. It plays very well. It sounds so good I had to buy it. I have the snare side head kinda tight(haha) and I have the top[ head tight, so it pops ! What a great sounding drum. But the the drum can be tuned where ever you like . Great piece of equipment. I use this big girl for blues music. Heck yea !
Ordered one Friday was so excited- Bought it and a new stand for it from Guitar center. Did order on Friday it is Sunday night not ready yet. Why do I keep buying from Guitar center and letting them disappointment? Seriously, I feel like I have a defect. Really want to check the snare out over the weekend. I realize they have to walk 100 feet total to take it off the shelf and stuff but I feel like even they could do that I called to ask about the order and even the rep on the phone was laughing at them not answering the phone when he called- They had been open for two hours no one would pick up which is why I used the 800 number. What an awful company Guitar center is- 4th time this has happened.
I wonder how this snare will sound with an Evans Hybrid and a 42 Strand set of wires, I'm thinking it'll send this bad boy straight into beast mode. Yay or Nay?
I am currently just running their stock snare strand w/ Aquarian Hi-Energy and an Evans 300 snare side, and man...it pops and still has a phat sound! I love this snare alot!! Great for the band I am in, which is a blues type rock band with a like a sort of dark twist to it lyrical-wise.
I know this is random, but only if tama could get the 7 piece superstar classic in dark indigo burst in stock. I've been waiting for months to the point I canceled my preorder on it. Tama is my favorite drum company, but needs to do better on customer needs.
Caleb Rivera not true. Tama starclassic bubinga has some sparkle wraps like the deep purple kit and they have a silver sparkle hyperdrive kit but idk about this kit
Old dudes play better than young dudes because they've been playing and developing their skill longer. Keep practicing and you might be as good one day... ;)

@@gtdrums82 yep. My main snare is a 20ply maple 6.5x14 dw snare with a 42 strand strainer. It's a lovely beautiful thing
Love your drumming man, great demo.

Absolutely incredible sounding snare. I'd literally daily drive this thing. Planning on getting my hands on one of these some day.

Adding Puresound 30's makes it a GRAND SLAM!

S.L.P Snare are the best

Besides metal and rock do you think this snare would be versatile enough to be used for funk, pop, R&B, and jazz?
sounds amazing
i love tama
These sound nice with a 30 puresound
Would this benefit from more snare wires? Like a Puresound Super 30 or something like that
Hi TAMA Team!

What Mic did you use for the bass drum? Sounds awesome!
gesang photo it's a shure beta 52 a
Which is better or more versatile this snare or the G Bubinga?
very cool
WANT IT!!!
What kit is he playing on? It sounds great!
Starclassic Maple
Nice!
I think it sounds like a big deep oil drum. But it's cool though.
Every time i hear this snare i love it but i just cant bring myself to make the purchase
What drum kit is it? It sound amazing!!
Miguel Giner - Drummer tama starclassic
Debating between this and the Ludwig Black Magic... someone help?
Just curious other than that snare what are those other drum shells your using
Deep low tones....gotta be Bubinga...and it's a Lacquer finish in Galaxy Chameleon Sparkle...ain't no WRAP !!
Recording I always use something else, but this thing kills live
😍🤤🤘
What china is that?
I have...
what tama kit is that?
Fred Fonacier tama starclassic
Bubinga or Maple?
Daniel Joya most likely maple, because i've only seen tama bubinga kits with lacquer finishes
With that wrap finish it looks like a tama imperial star
Caleb Rivera not true. Tama starclassic bubinga has some sparkle wraps like the deep purple kit and they have a silver sparkle hyperdrive kit but idk about this kit
🔔 👍 😰
Not a bad demo for an old dude
Old dudes play better than young dudes because they've been playing and developing their skill longer. Keep practicing and you might be as good one day... ;)
Sounds very beginner ish. Lacks personality and tone. I don't see the big deal here.
deep snares with thin shells always sound like shit to me, especially tuned low like that. if its deep it needs to be a thick metal
Hey Tama! Nice way to rip off Pork Pie Drums their Big Black snare name. Very classy and original.
Doesn’t matter what snare you use cause you suck at drums
Who cares? Just let people get whatever name/drum they want man.
Those TOMS sound awesome! What kit is this?
