I tried every WAGYU in Japan’s #1 tourist trap!

- I flew to japan's most popular market to find the best wagyu steak. Tsukiji is the most popular market in Tokyo and they have many things besides just steaks and I tried them all.

The dinosaurs are extinct because guga has stored them somewhere dry aging
Man this was supposed to be his secret
@@Supriya12385 it’s been 65 million years…. Someday it was going to be revealed
Facts!

Make a video on that please guga!!

Two rules when eating at Tsukiji for the regular tourists
1) Beware of pricing, high numbers does not always mean quality
2) Don't let the queues fool you - sometimes the discreet quiet stores, tucked away in corners and dark staircases are where you get good prices.
The alley is where the goodstuff are, esp if the owner is older
@@riardomilos8014 Exactly. Because they've been doing it the same way for decades if not generations.
can u recommend some good places to eat expensive beef i dont mind breaking the bank. first time to jpn
@@tenglei2 I recommend the channel Japaneats. He goes to another food place every day and is really fun to listen to. Have fun!
Pretty much all beef in Japan is Waygu, look for the certifications and the grading. You need the A5 grade and the vendor will usually show off the certification.
I walked past Guga at the beginning of June in a mall in Shibuya that overlooks the crossing. I was too jet lagged and shy I guess to say hi, and could also tell he was with his wife and kids just enjoying vacation. Loving these videos from Japan you have been releasing over the past month!
0:22 "if you come here, be ready to do a line everybody" the translation error is too funny 😂😂
There was no error.
@@nitoxys2564 yea there is no error in there my dude is just thinking about a wrong kind of line :)
Yea threw me off as I was cooking as I put this on 😂😂 I went who’s video did I put on
I want Gugu's next Japan adventure to collab with someone from Japan to take him to hidden gem restaurants because these all seem like tourist trap places he's going to
I don't know how much of a crossover there might be with audiences but he should absolutely see if he can contact AbroadInJapan because Chris is not a fan of tourist traps and a lot of his videos feature off the path. Obviously Chris is a foreigner but he speaks Japanese and knows the country very well.
@@lethn2929 Chris would be great as well as Only In Japan, John Daub, or Shizuka Anderson
Paolo from Tokyo would be great as well
Japan Eat
@@Iamshei26 Great call for Paolo! He's one of the best along with Sonny, although he's in Vietnam.
The torch taste tip is really useful thanks
Guga videos are my favorite drinking game videos. I take a shot every time he says “everybody”
"If you come here be ready to do a line">... ok Guga.

Lmfao I'm always down
I love how guga started sounding like angel😂😂😂😂
How is guga eating like this a losing weight? Bro's looking hella slim. Congrats broski!
Ozempic. (jk, I hope.....)
Because he's eating real simple food that is not processed or overcooked with sauces and served only the bare minimum of spices.
@@Mwoods2272 What does spices have to do with weight loss?
dont use the word broski.muppet
Maybe he only eats on camera? Any time he's not filming a video he's not eating?
Dry age steaks in roses
What? you crazy!~! but I like it
@@guga There's a rose powder here in the spice aisles in the middle east. It's pretty affordable stuff actually and it gives nice color and taste :)
@@gugait's my turn now 😅dry age in Bovril!
I'm glad we've become so close all over the world when it comes to food, especially when it comes to videos like this, which bring a little bit of everything from the world into everyone's home with no cost but with great satisfaction 😊😊😊
I love Japan. I really like the fact that it's considered rude to walk and eat so everyone either eats their food inside or they stand at the stall. No rubbish anywhere there.
Where's the guy with the oyster sauce fetish??!
I was looking for him also
Guga said it's coming
Seeing these videos makes me wanna go back to beautiful Japan for the insanely good food they have... I envy you!
Bro I really hope you went to one of their legit teppanyaki restaurants. They take it to another level. They don’t throw everything on the grill at the same time like they do in the US. They have more respect for the ingredients there and their grills are pristine
most if not all wagyu stores in outer Tsukiji is actually a tourist trap. You can find more value for your money someplace else.
Good video either way! Wagyu the best~
Name some :)
0:22 doing a line, and waiting in a line are 2 completelyyyyyyyyy different things😅 Guga kills me🤣
Japan is my dream trip, but I don’t have the means. I am thankful
For gugas content, so cool.
My 3 favorite foods together and also why I love Moco Loco so much, Meat Egg and rice doesn’t get much better than that 😛
Are we just not gonna talk about the size of Guga’s head at 9:28 ??
The combination of raw egg and wagyu beef is really delicious.
It makes you go, "What is this!?"
only get this in Japan. You’re the best!
Ohh OK thank for explaining the slow cooking in low oil temperature to make extra crispy and remove moisture! Learning so many cool things about cooking! :D
I've been visiting my in-laws in Hiroshima for the last two months and I'm due to return stateside in August. I've been gorging myself on Hiroshima's wagyu from their National award winning herds for two months straight. I wish I could bring a big slab home and get Guga to do it up right for me.
I’m always ready to do a line guga 💀🤣
Oh boy.... That last dish looked fantastic! Yum. That eggyolk was perfect!
And that's how you write off most of a holiday as a business expense
Make a compilation video of your side dishes
1:26 straight up BREEF
I was sold on "If you come here, be ready to do a line" That's it, I'm going to Japan 😂
9:10 Guga say what now 😂
I like how the girl at the sweet potato ice cream spot used her gloved hands to touch her hair and face
I love this channel it's so much calmer than the other channel 🥰
'YOU COME HERE, BE READY TO DO A LINE👃' 0:21
Sir yes sir
When you are walking back to your hotel after a long day and you want to grab a little snack and dessert before you go to bed, you can get those cutlets at most convenience stores. They are called menchi katsu and they are up by the cash register. They are pretty delicious too.
Salmon caviar is definitely NOT the cheapest caviar. Nice vid btw. Always stoked to see new Guga video. Also waiting for oyster sauce dry age stake.
the skewered torched beef looks so good!
2:02 You scared me Lmao x'D thought you roasted your fingers
yeah neat magic trick
Love the honest reviews. Thanks Guga!
where is the dry age steak in oyster sauce guy
You're the honorary "dry age steak in oyster sauce" guy today.
@@Russell_sears Maybe the real dry age steak in oyster sauce guy was the friends we made along the way
@@Russell_sears YAY
“It’s just not fair” is what I always say in Japan 😭
Looks good makes me want to nom nom nom that wagyu
I’ll never go to Japan. Glad you had a good time
Laid in bed starving with no money and just lost my job carmt afford nothing but my phones bill honestly don't know why but your videos help me deal with life thank you guga
🫂
0:21 I’m more of a bump guy myself, but I never ignore down a good line
Don’t get Wagyu in Outer Tsukiji market…they are way overpriced …. u get a lot more value at other areas in Tokyo
Get out of Tokyo altogether. Too many gaijin. It's like visiting NYC or LA and thinking you've seen America.
Do you have alternative recommendations
Ginza steak is 1 option. They have different A5 Wagyu buffet option starting from ¥7k++ and up… is teppanyaki restaurant setting so a bit more expensive. There are cheaper places that do A5 Wagyu yakiniku buffet as well for ¥6k++ per pax
@@kyuu_09 hiroshima, kyushu or hokkaido.
Thank you Guga! Right way torch food is just what I wanted to know lately. ☺
I WILL go to Japan!
"You are not supposed to walk and eat at the same time". Consume food you bought in front of the store you bought it. You can also give your trash to the store afterwards for disposal since it is difficult to find trash cans in Japan.
The Dodo bird went extinct because Guga has been dry aging so many of them! 😂😂😂
Speaking of fish, Guga you should try their Ōtoro and Chūtoro (raw tuna belly cutlets) next time. It literally melts in your mouth.
seeing a happy guga is why we are here
the video quality is crazy
I liked the effort to explain the sushi cone instructions. Roll the sushi onto the exposed seaweed, no need have a chance to loose your roll by pulling out the seaweed completely.
First time I see Guga's son. I think he should join in rating food some time. I bet he'll be more honest than those 2.
It's sometimes a crime when things cover up the flavor of the meat. I once asked a food truck "do you sell this without the sauce? This chicken tastes like it doesn't need it!"
We need to see Guga Jr on the grill soon
Salmon roe is also a very popular version to make Oyakodon (parent and child rice bowl). Very tasty.
I like most yakitori versions but the one with cartilage is not for me. My favourtie is tender cuts with wasabi.
For Japanese style tamago yaki you want a rectangular pan. Not for omuraisu of course.
I was hoping you would get the idea to try and learn to make some Japanese classic dishes! I had some croquettes at Japanese market in Chicago and they were sooooooo good! (They were shrimp croquettes.) If you look around on UA-cam, there are a LOT of videos of Japanese, mom and pop restaurants that are making food for the masses and the food looks great. Also look for Yatai videos. These are food stalls that pop up on the streets after 5 PM and feed salarymen and drinkers into the wee hours of the morning!
i think guga needs to make a cutlett side dish on a future video.
Informative video and good food! Thanks 👍
I still want to see you try the soft drink from Maine called Moxie
Guga talked a lot about balls this vid😂
Kamakura has amazing sweet potatoe icecream and sweet potatoe sweets. It's also the place where the last Samurais laid their swords down. Also a great tourist area not too far from Tokyo.
Guga, u may love Japan, but I love you.
gyu katsu underground resturants are 100% worth it, cook it for 10-15 seconds and it be perfect
Guga, dry-age a steak inside a duck or do a duck-fat dry age
Dry age steak in Coleman’s mustard
If I got 1$ each time Guga says “everybody” I would have been able to afford a trip like this 😅. Luckily I can watch the video 😂.
Looking trim Guga!
i like how he laughed like he meant somwthing
They've done a lot of creative stuff with Yamato beef, huh.
Sweet potato ice cream (Ube) is my favorite!! And it's sooo hard to find in the US!
Drinking game: drink every time he says "everybody" :D
While fish and wagyu beef are the most famous meats in Japan, yakitori is also excellent!
If you are traveling in Japan, you should definitely visit one of the best yakitori restaurants!
(Note that the better the restaurant, the more reservations are required.
Guga you're looking fantastic! 😀💪
guga is the Buddha of steak experts
Slimming down a big Guga? Either you're making it happen or the lens is doing you justice.
You need to go to Takayama and try Hida beef.
It’s called ube if I remember correctly. Try the actual one that comes in a bucket. It’s creamier and the color is light purple. I tried it in Okinawa. Probably mainland is different?
The Japanese curry seasoning is different than the Indonesian and Thai curry. At first I did not like the Japanese curry when my Japanese friend cooked it for me in college, but afterwhile I started to like it a bit. It tastes different. You either like it or not at all.
plz plz plz make some videos where you crack Kaarage, Yakitori and all that tasty JP food! Its all so tasty
Guga - "Let's go"
Me - Chokes on food. Where is the "Let's do it"
Purple sweet potatoes are so delicious! They have a vanilla taste to them.
Wait, is that a hair on your expensive beef dish?
Love the flavor dance 😋 2:28
0:22 doing lines right now chef 👌
Guga energy all the way 🎉
DRY AGE STEAK IN ROSES
Shame you didn’t do a collab with Chris Broad (abroad in Japan). He could have show you some amazing food that isn’t overpriced tourist traps.
Hey @guga try using Pesto on your steak, I’m sure you could try different techniques of doing so. It is a tad different but amazing!
Keep kicking butt on your weight loss journey guga, you’re looking great!
When you realize Guga lost all that weight just so he could binge eat in Japan 😂
i love the travel vids
We need a Wagyu Beef cutlet burger video. Like, I am sure that nobody will disagree me.
Guga, can you post everywhere/ market you went to? I will be going there soon and would like some tips please
