The best advise you give , Really is about , getting out of your head and and creating the feel of the Nature being Recreated on canvas . If I wanted it exactly , I’d just keep the photo . You bring the joy of Painting , out in you videos , I appreciate that . Thank You .
I'm a total beginner to oil painting. Have been learning watercolor online for the last year and a half with an excellent teacher. So glad to have come across your channel. I subscribed and hope to learn a lot from you. The style of this painting definitely appeals to me. I'm fascinated with the idea of learning how to paint skies. I live in a small south facing apartment without any curtains on a wall of windows. The view is a never ending change of sky and clouds from sunrise to sunset every day and every minute. I so much want to paint this subject in oils because it seems impossible for me to capture its depth and complexity in watercolor. Thank you for this inspiring video. You've made me very happy 😊 Cheers from a senior citizen in Toronto Ontario 🇨🇦
I started to comment that you really brought that scene to life, and then I saw someone else already said that, so it must be true! Ha ha. Nicely done! Love how you show the paintings in a frame at the end, too. Thanks!
I am new to oils and indeed painting really and this is really helpful. I think I have been starting with too much paint. Lovely painting well executed. Thank you.
I paint with acrylics and get caught up in too much detail! I over do it! I find my quick under painting is fresher and aligns better with impressionism and a looser approach. Your lesson is a wonderful reminder of keeping a painting fresh and lively! Thank you ! Your painting is marvelous! ❤
My first time watching your video. I really enjoyed watching and getting a new perspective by concentrating on painting shapes. I’m going to use this on my plein air painting. Thanks for the help. I subscribed. 😊
its so much better and alive than the photo! Beautiful. I will try, I managed a few times to do wonderful paintings like that, but I usually get lost in details and try to make it like the photo, and is very frustrating. I am portraitist but I so much wish to be better in landcapes. I will have to watch this again:) Thanks, a great help and inspiration. I think is the best I have ever seen .
Thats what I do . Paint shapes like it was a paint by number set. My niece orders paint by numbers from sending a photo to a company that scans it and makes it into numbered shapes with assigned colors
Are you using medium.? Also it looks like you are using the same brush each time you dip in to another color. How are you keeping it from going to mud ? Thank y. Love your work.

I rarely comment but I could not not say how great your video and your explaining is. Super tutorial and very easy. Thank you
Thanks for your feedback. Good luck with your painting 👍
I love how you take a nice but lifeless photo and bring it to life. The painting has movement, sparkle, personality, and a sense of being alive.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂

If it is your impression of something, then it is impressionism. 😊

Thanks, trying to be brave with my brushwork.
Very useful tutorial, thank you.

And yeah, simplifying and blocking in a basic foundation and composition feels the best way to paint imo.

Awesome painting Robert! ✨ Approximately how long do you wait before framing your oil paintings? Thanks
I briefly put it in a frame to take a photo for my video. However probably a few months before it permanently goes in a frame.
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊

Thank you, you are very kind.

New to oil painting. When you say that you keep your paint thin, what do you mean?
Not putting it on the canvas to thickly. Thanks for watching and good luck 👍
