So glad we were able to capture this beautiful moment right before the sunset near Tahoe. Just as Toni was finishing the song and I was putting the camera away, some locals were walking up to watch the sunset at this spot-also fans of the Dead. We jammed and talked with them for a while until it got dark, and then we all went on our way. A great memory! Hope y’all enjoy Toni’s take on Ripple. :) -Elle
If you ever have a chance, please stop by and perform at former Rancho Olompali (now a State Park) near Novato, CA. This is where the Dead hung out, sang, and lived in the late 60s.
We played this song at my dad's funeral. I haven't been able to listen without a tear in my eye since. Dad would have absolutely loved y'all. He was a huge fan of folk rock and pretty female voices. He passed in March of 05. He will always be with me listening to your music.
Toni…so gentle, peaceful, quieting…sweet lullaby lady. Easy playing, true to every note…clear and clean as mountain air. Blessed. Gifted. Thank you, ma’am! More please. Much more
Toni, all I can say is ..... more please. You are one my favorite guitarists in the entire world. And, your voice just makes it a perfect combination. More please.
Toni is just an incredible guitarist. It's as if she's barely pressing the guitar string to make the guitar sound. Her touch is just incredible. Not forced.
Thank you very much for your comment. I read and reread your words with pleasure because I understand. But I am sad that only 17 people liked my comment. Toni is an extraordinary musician. She plays with a pick and no one seems to notice her performance. She plays in the open air. This video is beautiful, with that sun. And what's that? It hasn't changed the world. - To all the beautiful melancholic souls.
It almost makes me want to cry... the beautiful scenery background, the music and the energy I feel through my computer of Jerry listening down and smiling while you play and sing this song. This is what makes me want to learn how to play my guitar.
Thank you Toni, for doing Ripple today. Beautiful timing, My Father in law just passed couple hours ago in his living room. Larry was an old blues man, just turned 79 this month.❤❤❤
I am sorry for your family's loss, John. This song connects me to my dad, who finished his song nine years ago. The hurt never goes away, but the edges wear down over time. Please accept the love and condolences of a random man on the internet.
My baby brother passed away October 24, 2023. Forever 55 ❤️ He was a true Dead Head. My heart will be forever now be broken 💔. SAL was my first friend and best friend through it ALL up until he passed. He was nicknamed LightninSal⚡ Appropriately!!! I love your version and Sal would too!!!
For my 15th birthday, in 1972, my older brother gave me a copy of Workingmans Dead and took a friend and I to see my first concert, the Grateful Dead in KCK 11/72. Over 50 years later Hunter’s words and Garcia’s music still inspire me and I’m still a DeadHead. I’m pleased younger generations continue to be inspired too! Thank you for this beautiful version! “Let there be songs to fill the air!”⚡️💀🌹
It's amazing the life these songs have. Looking at Toni I'm guessing she wasn't even born when Ripple was released. Great songs have a life of their own. Keep the spirit alive. 🌹☮️☮️
Toni, this was the tune playing from the ICU nursing station as I walked back into this world from a stroke back in 2014. Rob & his great-great grandpa would approve of your rendition 💞
Thank you Toni, always appreciate your talent. The fact that you’re playing one of my favorite tunes at one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen, Priceless. Thanks Elle for capturing it. ✌🏼❤️🎶
Thanks for doing this song. It's my favorite version. You are an amazing guitar player. I'm an old guy, and you give me hope for the future of American music.
When I was 18, I met Jerry Garcia twice. Both times it was around 2am in the morning. The Grateful Dead would be performing at the Carrier Dome, and after the show, they’d end-up at my truck stop. I would come inside from working on a tractor trailer, just as Jerry would come strolling out of the diner, with the check in his hand.
Toni plays the perfect song. I only hope in 50 more years, some equally talented young virtuoso covers it equally as well. Love to Toni, love to Jerry/Hunter and the Dead
Wise choice to cover this particular song! This is an absolute classic. RIP to the poet who scribed the unforgettable lyrics and the Dead musicians who made this song a masterpiece.
I just played this song yesterday at a celebration for the life of a friend who recently died. He loved the Grateful Dead. Toni this version of yours is exquisitely played. I have goosebumps all over. Love you!
Beautifully done Toni. You always pick my absolute favorite songs. We are probably 30 years apart in age, and we love the same songs. Maybe America should take note: Start focusing on our similarities instead of our differences.
Hi Toni, this is just superb - mistake, nonsense. You can do no wrong! Beautiful song, beautiful rendition. Have a wonderful holiday season, you and Elle are always a bright light in my sky. Stay safe be happy
When I play it and someone tries to point out any misses I just say that is my version! My song fav's to play in order,,,Ripple, The Weight, Into the Mystic, Clay Pigeons, In Spite of Ourselves, Galway Girl (Earle)....on and on. Then my own.
Ah, Toni, you made me cry again. I can't play this song without tears, as it immediately brings my dad back for me. And this was just beautifully done. Thank you, and Happy Christmas!
Thanks for posting this Toni. One of my favorite songs from middle school and high school. Makes me think of my friend Mike White who died from suicide this year. Used to listen to this with him. RIP Mike you were a great friend.
This song in particular always creates goose bumps. I worked for Jerry. There was a shadow effect. I followed him around, that may be so, but how did the others become part of my life ? Life is so strange.
As always , simply beautiful talent! You girls seem to know what we want to hear, and how we want to hear it done. The sounds of the music you play soothes my heart ❤️❤️❤️are
Wow, Toni, You just took this old hippy back to his long ago strange trips of stumblin around the country, with the Dead..... Thank You Toni, You are so, so talented!!!!!
Great job on one of my all time favourite tunes. Also a favourite of my brother's. He just passed away from hellish battle with the monster we call cancer. Thank you so much for doing this.
Im a huge dead fan, and a huge toni fan, ive always dreamed of playing with her some day. Man can dream right? Me and my dad would sit and listen to the dead all the time. I miss him ah god dam it now I'm crying.
Toni, you seem like such a chill person. nothing seems to stress you out - well maybe oncoming freight trains like the one in the Jambalaya video - but MOST of the time you seem so relaxed. I love your guitar playing, love the vibe you put out on videos but most of all I love the music you play because YOU love the music you play. Your joy is contagious!
All the live Dead recordings have hesitations that are passed over like so many Ripples. This is beautiful, Toni. Don’t doubt it! You’re playing live with “the gold of sunshine.”
You got me flashing back to summer holidays when I was a college student hiking through the Siskiyou’s and Sierra Nevadas listening to Neil Young and the Dead.
I never really appreciated this song until I heard your version It gives it a different meaning, I now love this song because of you, It actually makes me cry Beautiful
Stunning but simple Version....love it ❤ Merry Christmas to all of you (Reina, Josh Lee Turner, Allison Young, Carson McKee, Mary Spender)! Thank you all, your music brightened up my life ❤
I lived in San Francisco and in Sonoma County in the late 60’s early 70’s and I played this tune for years along with so many acoustic songs that I wrote myself, and this is still one of my favorites and it moves me deeply to hear such a beautiful rendition 🕊️💜🕊️🎶

As a road warrior of over 300 Dead shows (71-95) I just love when young musicians carry the torch.
Thank you for your service!
Wow I can’t imagine the amazing memories you must have 🥹🐢💀🎸
thank U for keepin a seat warm on the bus .i love hearing from ole Dheads as much as meeting new young ones . Peace On .

Wonder version Toni. Only a 70 year old Guitar Playing "Dead Head" freak can really appreciate the beauty of what you just played.
I wish I could tell Toni how beautifully she performed this song, and thank her for it.
I think you just did.
Really love this......takes me away into a dream

There's something so deeply moving about Toni's voice. As always her guitar playing is just so lovely. What a perfect cover of a wonderful song.
She is a classic folk artist.
Every once in a while, the universe gives us a beautiful troubadour. I’ve run out of words to describe her performances. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This woman can take a truly great song and make it even better. That is a rare talent indeed.
Toni is just an incredible guitarist.

it never ceases to amaze me how EASY she makes playing the guitar look 😮
I hear your voice come through the music, and I hold it close as it were my own.
Liked and shared to the world.
One "thumbs-up" just isn't enough for the smiles you bring with your music.
I came here to say the same! At least we can comment AND thumbs up. Aren't these two just the best?
Hallo ich bin Rüdi aus Deutschland. Was für eine Landschaft. Was für ein Lied. Was für eine Gitarristin. So so beautiful!!!

I think we should petition UA-cam to allow us to give another thumbs-up every time we watch these great vids. I think I would be at 10 or so by now.

Beautiful setting, signature guitar skills - love it when you sing - thanks for posting.
Your mellow voice blended so perfectly with the blue mountains, the blue lake, the trees and the winds in your hair. Just superb.
Toni, your voice is like honey, very smooth and easy to listen to.
This brought an old Deadhead to tears...thanks so much.

One of the BEST Covers of this song I've ever heard. And I was around to buy the album right after its Release Date, back in the Day. (1970)
Man I love this, how raw and untarnished by production Toni's voice is, along with her exemplary guitar
Raw voice is Toni's attractiveness
My soul is sick and tired of professional voice.
@@한국인k씨yeah me too
Worthy of repeat listening. I mean I like it.
Living in The City during 60’s and on thru the 70’s, the Grateful Dead’s Ripple…Toni touches my heart singing it, Love the Dead, love Toni
Elle behind the camera, with much affection. Great work both of you :)
