I was on the fence about this set, but now that I've seen yours and Tiago's videos, I think it looks a lot better than what I thought from the promotional pictures. I think it might look nice on my shelf with the motorized lighthouse. Or with the Black Seas Barracuda.
Got to buy this on day one to get the GWP. Shackleton’s life boat is an integral part of the history and story of Endurance so should be part of the set and not a GWP.
They did the same thing with jabbas sand barge and skiff but at least you can get the skiff whenever. I assume this is gonna happen more often unfortunately
This set looks so good! So jealous/happy for you guys, lol. Thanks for the review as always. You're my favourite Lego Ambassador, so professional and humble. Keep it up.
Suspect this set may sell better in UK. Shackleton is someone most people would know here even if they may not be completely confident with the story. The question for me is do I get this or Concorde for Christmas!?
I need that set, it looks so great and has cool features! Yes, a Shackleton-Figure would have been nice, but Mindy's right: They never do that with Icons sets. Did you try how Minifigures look on board the Endurance? I know it is not really Minifigure scale, but...?
@alexnunes Yes, from the looks in your video I though it would be like that. Still, the space (and money) issue needs to be solved before maybe buying it some time next year...
Fantastic set -- I've had a long-time interest in this ship and the history. Adding: I love Mindy -- there's a sweet and supportive but mildly-questioning vibe she brings that both celebrates Lego and AFOLs but also just a bit of eye-rolling at the whole phenomenon, too. 🙄 Maybe it's just me, idk, but Mindy seems like the ultimate insider-outsider -- the Mother of AFOLs. Anyway I'm a fan.
@@alexnunesLol. I think not quite getting the women in our lives is what keeps us men on our toes. Mindy's a keeper. And yes, she adds an "invisible touch" to your videos (80s Genesis song that perfectly described my 80s love, Karen -- she offered the song as an "explanation" of herself). You have a lovely family Alex (me, too: boy/girl twins 18 and a 24 yo daughter -- but I'm single now and at 62 I've moved on from relationships). I wish you all the very best in years ahead.
Is that the actual top of the display case or did you put another piece on top Alex to distribute the weight? I have often wondered about putting bigger sets on top of my larger display cases but worry about the bow and eventual/inevitable break!
It's the normal top. I did the same with the 1:8 scale cars downstairs. I don't think all display cases are capable of this, but in this case, it works.
Now, of course the white pieces will yellow in the UV lights, and the sail will become dusty and sag, so in a few years the actual Endurance will be better preserved then the Lego model.
@@alexnunes Sorry to sound pessimistic, but I just saw Jason's video where he was putting away old sets to make some SPACE, and the X- wing and Mandalorian starfighter were looking really yellow and they are not that old. Maybe we should soak all our white pieces in sun tan lotion first to block the UV rays?
Good point Alex. People know and recognize the titanic more. Just from reading about it. Or watch the movie. The endurance. Unless you’re like a big history buff or a ship lover. You probably won’t know anything about it. Both of them look cool. But if I had to choose one to get. I would choose the titanic. Just because I know more about that than the endurance. I’d probably would get the endurance at some point. Just because it’s a ship and has a good amount of history to it. But the first one I’d get is the titanic just because I know more about it.
Like you said, it's a great looking set, it just doesn't have any connection for me. I'm more Steamboat Willie and Yellow Submarine. This set takes a commitment in space (Space...) that I can't afford either.
Great review guys and hi from Australia 🇦🇺 🦘 I just ordered it and got 2 gwp’s 😁👌🏼and one being the Shackleton’s lifeboat 👍🏼 not to rub things in 😂 keep up the awesome reviews
Tiago agrees with you there should have at least been a Shackleton figure included even though they sent him the gwp
Strange how that worked. I'll still grab it later though.
Probably the only review with a book review your wife did a great job with the story
Yay, we did it! Mindy thought of it right away.
Love this review, might think about getting this one but definitely agree that you need that GWP to go with this.

That lighthouse is a good companion set for it, despite the scale difference.

Never heard of Endurance until this set was announced. Great set and will get it day 1 with GWP

I appreciate that, thank you!

This is sooooo much better if you are a history buff and naval enthusiast
Do you have a Fireplace mantel? That’s a great place to put it!
I have a fireplace, but no mantle for it. I agree, it would look good over a fireplace.
I can't wait to get this for Christmas for myself to myself.. so excited for this set. Grumptastic job you two..
I’m buying it and the lifeboat, which plays a major part of The Endurance’s legend is the icing on the cake.
Never heard of the ship until the lego set and then i looked into the story... might have to get it with the gwp...
Yes I'm buying it

I didn't try that, but I don't think minifigures would look out of place on it.
@alexnunes Yes, from the looks in your video I though it would be like that. Still, the space (and money) issue needs to be solved before maybe buying it some time next year...
Did you have a "spare" white flex tube? It's supposed to go on the back end of the hull where the white c-clips are!
There was a spare, but the instruction called for just one that went on the back. Did I miss it?
Thanks for the review , and great history story , Happy Holidays , Dreamer

She brings a fun balance to my videos. I don't always get her, but when she's on, she's a blast.

Hey you two! First time viewer; really enjoyed y'alls chemistry and humor :)
😂 You two are hilarious! Nice ship, won’t be buying it though. Mindy, the audiobook is awesome!! Not hard to stay awake!
My favorite thing i think ive seen so far is that you dont have to tie or cut the string?! 😅
It’s very cool and want it

Hmm, a 5 year check in might need to happen.

The Titanic was so fun to build

Lan should give those GWP sets to lan members who receive the set that qualifies u for the GWP set
It was a bit strange after I found out others got it. I do get a few GWP each year. Just not this one, I guess.
@alexnunes it should be a guarantee for those who get the set it comes with. A no brainer if u ask me but....
All of the crew survived, but just don't think about what became of all the dogs they brought with them 😂 🍴
Doggone it!
Interesting you didn’t get the GWP. I’ve seen other LAN members get it. Maybe because you don’t select GWPs in your requests
I am sad I missed it too. I get a few each year, just not this one.
They should do a Terror and Erebus set.
Legos can't be cannibals right?
I want it but spent a lot this weekend i could still get it with my points but also want to use it for future purchases im undecided 😕
Like you said, it's a great looking set, it just doesn't have any connection for me. I'm more Steamboat Willie and Yellow Submarine. This set takes a commitment in space (Space...) that I can't afford either.
I missed the Yellow Submarine. Darn it!
Want.
Sometimes best just buying the set without watching these videos, cos you're hard to listen to mate 😢
Dang, that's tough feedback to hear, but thanks for sharing.
@alexnunes sorry was a bit harsh upon reflection, but I don't think you knew who Shackleton even was
