I sincerely think you are the best drone videographer out there. Your photography is immersive and entertaining 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks a lot Philip! I am humbled you think so. Feel free to subscribe to stay up to date. I'm still working on a decent backlog of content from some months ago that I'll upload over the next couple months.
@@TheRailfanDan Don’t you agree that Railfanning and photography are 2 hobbies made for each other? You are blessed with the right skillsets to enjoy both to the fullest. Cheers from BC, Canada
another oregonian tour de force, the tourist board must

Sensational! Could not stop watching.
Another great shot! I love it! Greetings from Berlin! And now I take the Light Railway here and surf street canyons for a while and dream about BIG BOY....Lol

Thanks Mike!
Awesome content! I love this stretch of railroad
just wonderful
I just subscribed based on your drone flying --- you are an exceptional pilot.
Well thanks a lot!
Ditto that. 🏆
You do beautiful work. Best drone flying anywhere!
Thank you Thomas!
Love watching your videos. The drone provides views I never was able to access during the 2 summers I spent working at Crater Lake.
Another fine RailFanDan video👍👍
Stunning shots..... loved the parallel chase of T4 EMD train! 😍
As always, BEAUTIFUL JOB. You keep my motivstion in modeling and give me the relaxation I feel when I watch the trains run. Keep up the great work.
Magnificent! Superub! Your inspirational, Dan.
Beautiful trains and scenery Dan! I really enjoy watching your videos! Thank you for sharing your work with us!
Excellent!!!
I would smile and nod my head if I were to walk into a Costco and see any of your videos playing on the TV's they're selling right there just inside the store entrance.
Beautiful scenery and videography. Love the start with the CNW heritage unit. Grew up alongside a CNW line, but it didn't have this kind of scenery!
Awesome drone flying you got there!
Super bro
Nice footage, tell Charles, Jill and Butch hello
This must be a tough location to shoot drone videos. I'm not from that area but I expect there aren't lots of places with public access to this line and still keep your drone in range. I really enjoy looking at the Cascades and the tall forests. Spring weather is probably another major factor, too. Thanks for your efforts to let us "flat-landers" see some serious mountain railroading.
Thanks again Paul! This mountain pass is actually kind of my "backyard" being only a little over an hour away. I know it like the back of my hand but yes for a newcomer it is difficult to navigate. That shot on the cliff is my signature location to fly at and it is quite a flight to get to that point but worth it everytime!
@@TheRailfanDan I don't know if you'll respond since this one was posted so long ago, but how many trains run through the area during the daylight hours would you say (once the time changes and the sun stays out longer)? I've been thinking about visiting the area from Shasta through the Cascades as it always looks beautiful, snow or no snow. How do you like the Mavic 3 that you got?
@@Atsf1976 Yes lucky I did actually did get a notification for your comment since it is older! I am loving the Mavic 3 Pro and am almost ashamed to say I haven't even used the Inspire 2 since I got it.
This line is in my "backyard" as I like to say so you came to the right place. I can't actually speak for trains in the daylight itself but within a 24 hour period on average it's about 6 to 8 in that time not including Amtrak. Sometimes more and sometimes less. Definitely can be hit or miss but if you have 2 or 3 days to spend then you should have a little luck. The Shasta region is magnificent and worth anyone's time.
@@Atsf1976 Something useful is the Live Dunsmuir camera which plays on here most of the time. Once in a while it doesn't stream for whatever reason but most of the time it's going.

Magnífico!
Thanks!
WOW. How do you find these places? Most look like there are no streets/roads for you to get in there. The river scene is great. Keep up the excellent work, Dan. I will always fly with you. That was UPs Heritage on the point, right. (Western Pacific)
Superb!
Great video. Wish I could fly a drone that good. I'm on my 3rd one.
Great video as usual.
Now I know why the tops of UP locomotives are painted black or grey, so that when the exhaust starts getting bad, it will just blend in with the paint 14:05.
How can anyone seriously say that the previous clear cut was not a major contributor of the landslide shown around at 14:43
Hi Dan. Thanks for sharing. Great videos. Really nice flying and such amazing high resolution and stability. Top notch - like watching a giant ultra - detailed scale model railroad. Would be better with actual sound vs. music. But to each their own I guess. I just mute the music. IDK what the reason for the music is; I might assume it is due to the drone's noise or wind noise? But I really enjoyed your train w/ sound videos. I don't know if the sound was dubbed in, but if so, you did a magnificent job there, too.
Dan, do you give lessons in how to fly a drone? YOU ARE THE BEST!
Thanks! No I haven't yet. ;)
👏👏👏👏
Hi Im a local avid history buff and was working on some research for the old station/post offices of: Cruzatte, Frazier, Abernathy, Wicopee, Fields, and others in the area. If you have any information it would me the world to me! Thanks!
Was the beginning filming part showing the 3 coach passenger train near Chemult?
That was at Crescent Lake.
Looks like the most awesome model railroad ever conceived. If you can imagine it, it exists in the Pacific Northwest! Superb video!
Dan, I'm looking for footage of Rotary Snow Plough trains... wondering if we can chat?
Whats the gps location of tunnel 24?
Now that you have inspired me to buy a drone, can you finance me and then teach me to fly it???? :):):)
Your videos are consistently the best rail-fan material of all. 2nd place goes to ua-cam.com/users/PHXSubRailfannervideos
He's a friend actually and he does have some great stuff! He's actually a DAMN good photographer with some breathtaking material.
