I have the little brother of this switcher - the 4x4 and it totally rocks! So happy to see our own N-Audio in Fluff's channel. I'll double down what the other comments say - the owner Niki is a great guy and I'm really happy to see his creation in one of the largest guitar channels!
A little proud to see Bulgarian stuff on this channel. In our country the guy behind N Audio is a well-known name and a very nice guy. His smaller amp switchers are also great as far as I know.
Using this for nearly a year now with eight amps, two 212 cabs and the Captor X. This is a great and reliable switcher. Can only recommend it. And Niki is such a nice guy. Also looking forward to the soon to be released FX Loop extension switcher for this.
It looks great, but for me it lacks one essential thing: the ability to switch amp loops like the khe and ampete solutions do (I own both). I saw on the website that they propose the solution for 2 amps, 1 cab, 2 loops, 1 attenuator. And for the price it looks awesome.
god I need someone to do just an amp switcher, I can't be the only one with a bunch of heads and one cab, lol. These are really cool, and I need one, but it feels like a waste to basically only use half of it.
Hi. The switcher just switches between the amps and cabinets with a lot of relays. You have to set your amps impedances to match the speaker cabinets. If this is not possible for some reason: let's say all cabinets are 8 Ohm, but you still have one 16 Ohm cabinet, then set all amplifiers at 8 Ohm output impedance, and play with this configuration for all cabinets. This is not a big deal, and you can't harm your amplifiers.
Great review! My KHE 8x4 switches do not toggle up and down and do not block the LED. They come back to center after engaging/disengaging the channel. Older vs newer model maybe?
had a look into the N Audio switcher myself but decided in the end for a De Lisle 8x6 since I needed also to chain the FX loop through all my amps not only an attenuator. But anyway what I was curious about on the KHE as well as the N Audio they offer the option to run more than 1 cab at the same time.... but what Impedance would that Present to the Tube Amp? I have my Setup so that all amps and all cabs have 8 ohms so switching between them is no problem but I cannot get my head around how that should safely work with multiple cabs to not change the impedance presented to the amps output. Solid State Amps of cause dont care but with the Tubys I dont even do a safe mismatch by one just to be sure the expensive gear is safe.... for example I have one cab that only offers 16 Ohms so I have a Weber Z-Matcher device in between cab and cabswitcher so the 16 Ohm cab is converted to a 8 Ohm load for any Amp I chose on the Switcher. So is there an internal load converter thingy or does if I activate two 8 Ohm cabs at once my 8 ohm tube head output sees then a 16 Ohm or a 4 Ohm load cab?
edit found the answer in the N Audio Manual: Extra features Using more than one cabinet in parallel To use more than one cabinet in parallel, simply press and hold the button for the first cabinet, then press the button for the second cabinet. Repeat this step to add a third cabinet. The unit can drive up to three cabinets in parallel simultaneously. CAUTION! When adding cabinets in parallel, the output impedance of the unit is reduced. For instance, two 8 Ohm cabinets in parallel have 4 Ohm output impedance. It is highly recommended to use 16 Ohm cabinets when using this mode. Using more than one 4 Ohm cabinets simulateniously can cause damage to the amplifier!
If you are talking about stereo mode - I haven't seen a stereo amp switcher where you can set amp 1 as the left and amp2 as the right, assigning two cabinets. This is a good idea, but it requires virtually two amp cabinet switchers sharing the same software implementation. This means that a similar device will be expensive! If you are talking about playing with both amps simultaneously in one cabinet - this is not possible and is dangerous for your amps. Feel free to contact me via the N-audio contact page if you need more information about the switchers
@@NaudioElectronics Hello, i have a doubt. If i have lets say, 4 amp heads and 4 Synergy SYN2 loaded with modules. Each Syn2 is connected to the FX return of each amp. can i plug the 8X7 to amplifier inputs of the amps and SYN2s and switch them all from the 8x7? Except for the channel and modules on the SYN2 of course. Ending up with 12 "amps", 4 poweramps and 7 cabinets. i don´t know if i made myself clear.

Very cool! The KSR amp looks amazing.
Freekin brilliant use of the Bench Cookies… great idea

Would love to have something like this in my studio!
The tones in the amp switcher
I'd love an 8x1 switcher... I don't use live cabs at home (straight into a UA Ox) with multiple amps.

Does it care about impedance between amps and cabinets or do they all have to match?

Oh yeah possibly. Mine is a really early one.

Would this work with something like the Mesa Powerhouse Attenuator?
Yes it would

Amazon. They are called Bench Cookies

Dumb question probably but I need something exactly like this if it does.
