    Dme gives slant range and it's paired with vor.As it's slant range so we can find out the aircraft from the station or to the station.

    Close but...
    Omni means omni. It does not mean that the VOR transmitting station is transmitting discrete beams radiating from the station.
    As you described, a vor-equipped aircraft's receiver can calculate what radial it's on (or trying to find) and can calculate to/from info; it does so by receiving signals that are broadcast in all directions from the VOR transmitting station.
    Here's the best vid I've found on how this works: ua-cam.com/video/tZ2gG1v9Xg8/v-deo.html. The modulation is always AM i believe. The "newer" style transmitters, as described in the referenced vid, induce phase by rotating the broadcast point in a circle around the reference broadcast point.
    Also to/from doesn't mean towards or away from the VOR location, it means that the OBS is set to a radial that is away from or towards the transmitting station.

    Do they still use vor I asked a jet blue pilot he said that they don't use it anymore do you know if american delta united southwest use them

    • @JxJAVIATION

      Modern aircraft do not use VOR. They use specifically created waypoints for navigation.

      @@JxJAVIATION The way points are DMe anyway. Aren't they from the satellite? And does it work on the same principle as the v o rd near me

    Why would you even need a " From"?

    • @JxJAVIATION
      @JxJAVIATION  Рік тому

      If the aircraft heading is to be changed the "from" indicator can be used to assist with the turn!

      @@JxJAVIATION Dear sir,I understand you have put an effort to explain the content and I know it’s not easy doing all this ,I appreciate your efforts and i would like to say thank you,
      You talked about reference signal and directional signal and said phase difference is 90 degrees therefore the aircraft is 90 degrees radial but what is phase difference and how you get a phase difference of 90 degrees?Is it like this ?reference signal has a phase (100)and directional signal has a phase (10) so the difference is 90 therefore the aircraft is 90 degrees,I am just trying to understand the concept it’s ok if you don’t respond.
      Thank you any way.

    What’s the line of sight distance in miles on the VOR?

    • @JxJAVIATION
      @JxJAVIATION  2 роки тому

      It can send signals upto max range of 130NM.

    • @photosphotos
      @photosphotos 2 роки тому

      @@JxJAVIATION it’s actually 200 miles. Line of sight.
      However the earths mean radius is only 3959 miles which means only a mere distance of 50 miles would render this useless as it would be buried behind so much curvature.
      200 miles equates to an inescapable 5.03 miles of curvature.
      The mathematics based upon 3959 miles = 8” x miles sq. you have to sq the distance for every mile.
      In my opinion and going by knickebein radar also and the battle of the beams during ww2 over the uk the earth is flat and stationary, space is fake.
      VOR demonstrates that there is no curvature, after all the horizon is horizontal.
