  • Spanning nearly a thousand miles, the snowstorm that hit the East Coast of the U.S. this past weekend left record snowfall in many places. For Washington, D.C., almost two feet of snow fell. In the midst of the storm, some residents explored the city-this video captures moments when normally bustling streets are turned into quiet winter wonderlands.

I was fortunate to have been able to visit back in 1987... I was there for 2 weeks, and was able to see all the historic sites, and memorials... The white house, and both the National Air and Space Smithsonian, and the Natural History Smithsonian museums were by far the most impressive. I wish I could visit again, but now I'm not financially able, and probably won't ever be... I am on a very fixed income, and I have applied for social security... I was 15 when I went with my high school in 1987, and from what I can tell, there have been so many changes... Hopefully I can see more about our history online. Mark Baker, Joplin MO

What a "storm". In my country snow like this is normal. You wouldn't want to know what a storm over here is like.

That's a lot of snow for a place I'm sure is more used to rain storms than snow storms.

Even two feet of snow can't hide terminal corruption.
