I've seen them a few years ago on their European tour and was blown away by the whole band - including an amazing bass playing (!) singer. And yeah, I am a musician myself for 30+ years and kinda know when / if and how someone plays.
Paul Taylor is so underrated. Many of the touch and vibe of the Winger songs is in the layers he creates with his keyboards. Listen carefully. He is an amazing musician in my opinion.
I know exactly what you're talking about. I just can't get over his performance in Tokyo back in '91 and being able to switch to keyboard and guitar back and forth. So damn good to see the other OG Winger member performing with the band again.
They aren't wearing in ears clearly, so running off monitors is a game of just right or way too much. Not their sound system, not even a proper sound check. They did the job with what they had! As a musician with 30 years of experience personally, trying to sing without being able to hear yourself is a nightmare!
Granted Kip isn't going to sound like he did in the studio back in the 80's, but given his age and in comparison to other singers from that era who have totally lost it when trying to sing live today (Vince Neil), he sounded good to me.
I just saw Winger live in NY, it's true that Kip is pitchy. To his credit, he sings every single song with everything he's got, and also plays like 3 instruments live, so I'll forgive him for losing some of his range. He was singing at the very top of his range all through the '80s anyway.
They still sound great, especially when you consider this was an outdoor show that was filmed with less than pro equipment! Nice upload, thanks for the share!
Winger is great. this was not rehearsed that much, and it sounds really good though a soundguy fucks it up. Can´t Believe why many rockers Think they suck. very talanted over all. Winger`s done some really good stuff. I Think they desereve some more credit.
already booked for my third and its ammmaaaazing, its like being granted backstage passes to an event that lasts a week. The musicians host meet and greets and stuff of course but the best are the intimate sets and the impromptu sets from bands coming together. DO IT MAN, DO IT AND SEE!! there are sites for finding cabinmates on the internet.
yes Vixen and Mach 22 were also announced yesterday, Being on a couple of previous cruises I've noticed they add more bands until the ship sets sail, still hoping to see Beasto Blanco added. If you're interested in finding a cabinmate here is a facebook link set up to help facebook.com/groups/210357732430453/about/
So cool for another person to even allow them to play an instrument of theirs says a lot! Kip is a cool guy!!!! What a great show, thank you for sharing!
Kristie Adams I love all their stuff!! Well I could do without Miles Away, it's just dull. I'll take Blue Suede Shoes anytime though. Rat Race is another favorite of mine. Kip is all gold.
setlist easy links: 1- Pull Me Under (1:07) 2- Easy Come Easy Go (5:02) 3- Down Incognito (10:29) 4- chicken picken' (16:14) 5- Miles Away (17:58) 6- Rainbow in the Rose (22:24) 7- Rat Race (27:56) - Rod Morgenstein Drum solo (31:32) 8- Headed for a Heartbreak (34:26) 9- Can't Get Enough (40:33) 10- Madeline (45:47) - Reb Beach Guitar solo (52:10) 11- Seventeen (54:08) 12- Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (1:01:45)
I see Winger open for Deep Purple in the 80's in Massachusetts! People I have seen them all! My 80's was all music and shows! I have stories I cherish from these times that I wouldn't read for the world! I want everyone to know, Winger was one of the best shows I saw in those days!!! I loved them so it was great that they did all the hits, loved on the audience, and Kip put all his heart and soul into it! I am going to see him accoustic in March!! Show has great reviews! I will tell you he is a solid performer. Go see it! I love you Kip❤️
Winger has to be one of the greatest live bands going these days. After all these years they still kick ass. 5 extremely talented musicians on one stage. They blow away most bands that have been around as long as them. Kip has taken care of his voice that's for sure.
I think they sound great😃 Great guitarists .Keyboard player is Dream Theater Caliber . Singers are all great😄 Kip what can I say he doesn't just sing he writes and is an ingeneer..Ok the best for last 😎 The drummer is one of the best in the world .This band just can't have real 🔥 power without him. What I like the most about him is he sneaks up on you and shows you how good he really is.That guy can play anything .One more thing he has his own style .Extreamly tasteful .Great band .You can tell these guys work hard.I also like the mix .I like it when they turn the guitars up and down during the singing .Also one of the singers has an incredibly high voice.😎 He is very good..God bless
I have a lot of respect for Kip Winger for being such a great talent, took good care of his fans, and sometimes I wished they became more famous in the past. At his age its hard to hold the notes or techniques, but he's still doing the best he can.
Thanks for posting.Nice gig For all those complaining about this and that and that he's not playing the exact bass line than on the albums. And complaining that he doesnt have the same voice at 60 than 20 y.o. than shut the fuck up and complain somewhere else. Or just have fun and enjoy it for what it is now, which is a god damn good rock'n'roll show.
I just scored a ticket for $33 to see them in Feb 2018....5 rows from the stage on Reb's side. I have never seen them live and looking forward to it. As a guitarist growing up in the 80's I used to watch Reb on MTV.
Jason Carpenter I just saw them a few weeks ago in a small club ten minutes from me. Awesome show, no bad seat/standing place there. Three months earlier I saw Kip's solo show upstairs of the same club, got to get pics with him, he checked out my pics on my phone. Had an after party downstairs. Omg he's so personable, funny, and sweet at the same time. Enjoy your show, you won't be disappointed!
Years ago, I saw 👀 Winger at the Channel Club here in Boston. They were great! I saw them 👀 years later and they were just as great as first time I saw them. I tell people, go see them when they come around. They blow you away!
Winger is clearly one of the bands that give people a real and memorable show every time they step on the stage !! But as sad as it sounds, they also belong to bands that I will never see live while I live !!
I absolutely love this band, and I’d give my left nut to go on this cruise..what an amazing experience. Live a long way away, but someday I’ll get there! Pull me under, Rat race the list goes on...simply awesome songs.
These guys were at least 20 years ahead of their time. Its really too bad they got caught up in the whole glam rock thing of the late 80's and early 90's. I would encourage everyone to watch their full concert from 2007. These guys are for real and the real deal.
I seen winger,Paul Rogers, EnuffzNuff, and this INCREDIBLE band called Young Turk in Miami in a tiny club with approx. 100 of my fellow rockers that know great music, winger put on a GREAT SHOW. (Think it was 89' btw 😉)
watch the girls on the deck behind winger. They bring it theres a couple of em just rocking. The guys are like whatever! The very reason i loved this music it always got the ladies!!!!
Along with Skid Row, these guys probably had the best debut/follow up releases of the hair band era. Not many of these hair bands had a better 2nd album than first.
Reb Beach fans should check out Whitesnake live dvd. Saw Winger in 91 in Johnson city Tn. They were amazing. All great musicians. Rod Morgenstein is an amazing drummer. I think he teaches Percussion at Julliard or one of the big performing arts colleges. Great band.
Like Mr. Big one of the most talented hardrock bands ever to come along.. Masters of what they do...Love these guys.. And the last album is killer like all the others. By the way.. Roth/Brock project is killer. And of course Reb is one of my all time favorite guitarists..
Is that the original keyboard player? If it is, I ate lunch at McDonald's with him and Mark Torien of Bulletboys back in '91. They were staying at the hotel across the street here in Amarillo. It was freakin' awesome!
Sounds like Rod is using multirods on his kit during this show. My snare sounds exactly like that when I use multirods...kinda flappy and not much attack.
Winger isn't the typical 80's hair band. Every member is very talented and great at what they do. That includes Paul Taylor. And also different in that Kip still sings great. He also did better on the Van Halen song than Roth does these days. He also puts on a great show and has fun with the crowd, both with band, and (especially) solo. I just wish he/they would change the setlist up more. Anyone know who was singing so high backing vox on Heartbreak? It was way off. :) Maybe just bad mic levels.
Such a shame Bevis and Butthead/Mike Judge SINGLE HANDEDLY RUINED WINGERS CAREER. This band, when they 1st came out had 4 of the most talented Rock and Progressive Jazz Rock musicians.....Rod from The Dixie Dreggs, Kip from Alice Cooper....they effing rocked!! It's good to see Paul Taylor rejoin them every once and a while on Keys....but it's also GREAT to see a couple of Hometown Music Buddies from back home in Memphis play with Kip. He shoudl of dressed as Capt Stubing of Love boat...That intro song feedback...whoa amateur roadies! Ever heard of a sound check? Maye I hire them for my asian nephew's bar mitzvah....
Kip Winger is one of the most all-round talented writer/performer/vocalists anywhere...Support the band when and where you can...
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! AND REB IS SO UNDERATED!!
Marc were you in cold sweat?
Yes
I've seen them a few years ago on their European tour and was blown away by the whole band - including an amazing bass playing (!) singer. And yeah, I am a musician myself for 30+ years and kinda know when / if and how someone plays.
I'd rather pay a hundo to see Kip play his bass upside down than to pay a fuckin red cent to see the majority of today's "artists".
Reb Beach is a beast! He is an amazing guitarist!
I agree 🥰 !! Reb Beach is awesome guitarist 🎸 💞 and the best!!
Absolutely. His outro solo in headed for a heartbreak is top 10 of all time in my opinion.
Kip is a beast of singer
Winger is seriously cool. Just a cool bunch of dudes.
love it! Winger are such an awesome underrated band. Love seeing a fuller lineup with John Roth and Paul Taylor.
Most singers from the 80's have lost the ability to hit the higher notes they did in their heyday... Kip is the exception as his vocals are spot on!!!
Atleast you can tell that it's Kip singing haha unlike Vince Neil haha
I just saw Winger live in NY, it's true that Kip is pitchy. To his credit, he sings every single song with everything he's got, and also plays like 3 instruments live, so I'll forgive him for losing some of his range. He was singing at the very top of his range all through the '80s anyway.
I just saw Winger on the 2018 Monsters Of Rock Cruise. I couldn't agree with you more. Kip still has an amazing voice!
If you haven’t seen Kip or Winger live you are missing part of your life. Amazing musicians.
These guys are bad ass. Timeless wonders!!
Damn skipee!
Music like this will always live forever Winger rocks!
Been a fan since early 1990, forever a fan here 😍
I can't imagine how much fun a cruise like this would be. Man!

Winger never dies

Hey look! Kip is actually playing his Bass. (People used to complain that he wouldn't play it in the classic videos)
I think they sound great😃 Great guitarists .Keyboard player is Dream Theater Caliber . Covid Chaos Paul Taylor, rock ‘n’ roll Swiss Army knife.
I have a lot of respect for Kip Winger for being such a great talent, took good care of his fans, and sometimes I wished they became more famous in the past. At his age its hard to hold the notes or techniques, but he's still doing the best he can.
I worked with Kip before, a great guy.
the solo in Headed for a Heartbreak is so awesome.
Hey, thanks for sharing this concert!Nice to see Paul Taylor with the band for this show...jus like ole times...Cheers,,
Thanks for posting.Nice gig

This was an amazing show! The whole band sounds tight! Besides the few technical issues at the beginning, I think the mix sounded good too
They write great songs!!! Very talented group!!
cheers from México.. lm a great wingers fan

I absolutely love this band, and I’d give my left nut to go on this cruise..what an amazing experience. Live a long way away, but someday I’ll get there! Pull me under, Rat race the list goes on...simply awesome songs.
Holy shit that drum solo from rod was awesome and the backing track was superb
They sound pretty damn good! Thank you for posting this video.
So glad to see Paul Taylor again!

Guitarist John Roth is BADASS!!!!!
I played on a gig in Memphis for a Jimi Jamison tribute. John was there. 2016. Great night at the Hard Rock. Cool guy.
Sounds pretty good too me.
Oh cool you was on the cruise with Winger. I'm a fan also. Like your video
Kip Winger still rocks! Then he lets an audience member play bass unrehearsed?! I want to go to a cruise!
thanks so much for posting! cheers from brazil
I seen winger,Paul Rogers, EnuffzNuff, and this INCREDIBLE band called Young Turk in Miami in a tiny club with approx. 100 of my fellow rockers that know great music, winger put on a GREAT SHOW. (Think it was 89' btw 😉)
still great performance kipper stillllll rocks keep going

The song that needs to be dug up by Winger is Battle Stations.
Dustin Martin I concur
0h man, Winger! Too bloody good!!💯🤘🏾
Is that the original keyboard player?
If it is, I ate lunch at McDonald's with him and Mark Torien of Bulletboys back in '91.
They were staying at the hotel across the street here in Amarillo.
It was freakin' awesome!
Madalaine, was on the setlist too now that I've watched it through...
oops, fixed it... thanks :)
Sounds like Rod is using multirods on his kit during this show. My snare sounds exactly like that when I use multirods...kinda flappy and not much attack.
GOTTDAMN! That was good! 👏
She’s only 45!!! 😂
whoever mic'd that kick is a god damn sultan
Aweson Rod Morgenstein...a great band.
Awesome
Awesome guitar solo before "Seventeen"!
Such a technical band...
now that is a Cruise
It's good that they added a support keyboardist. It's very hard to sing while playing both bass and keyboard. and songs are pretty difficult
that's Paul Taylor the original guitarist/keyboardist. He s still with them
Awesome!
Rod Morgenstein still kicks ass!
How hard is it to get a decent cameraman to zoom in on red beach his guitar work and Kip wingers fantastic singing and sultry good looks.???
Excelente banda com excelente músicos!!
Thought guitarist on left was Reb Beach until saw him on right side of the stage.
Consummate pros :) Thanks for this.
Alice Copper knew what was going on ;) SCRATCH THAT... Kip masterminded the musicianship !!! INCREDIBLE !!! FREEKIN SICK !!!
i love the song pull me under very much, but i never setisfied when it brings to live..
Winger isn't the typical 80's hair band. Every member is very talented
and great at what they do. That includes Paul Taylor. And also different

Anyone know who was singing so high backing vox on Heartbreak? It was way off. :) Maybe just bad mic levels.
She's only Fiiiiiiiiii-ty. Seriously I do think Kip is a huge talent.
Real rock stars rise above... Great job!!! The kinks have the name for a reason ;) Way to work through the technical BS!!!
How nice to let guy play base!!!
Wow! That crowd is SOOO lame!
Band sounds great though.
No way not to love Paul Taylor.
The sound of the band! Fuckin´ awesome!!
STILL ROCKIN!!!
Say what you will, Kip sounds a hell of a lot better than Vince or Axl these days. Band sounds great too!
Fuckin' A!!
I see Kip still hasn't given up the twirly bird move.
So much for that production company...
He has one hell of a voice and can still shake that booty !!!
sound techs weren't very supportive
Does everyone in the crowd own a dslr. Crazy to see that many real cameras at a concert.
Roses are Red
Violets are Fine
If you’re looking for Miles Away
Fast forward to 17:59 ❤️
Such a shame Bevis and Butthead/Mike Judge SINGLE HANDEDLY RUINED WINGERS CAREER.
John Roth 98% of the time then when he takes off to do Micky Thomas Starship gig, my ol bud Donnie Smith hops up to fill in for John.
I'm really happy for them both.
This band is still just as great today as they were back in the day!!!
Kip did an Acoustic gig where I live now and not only was he incredibly good, he's extremely nice and absolutely hilarious!!!
Keep it goin guys....I could keep listening for decades to come!!
Half truth.
Grunge had MUCH more to do with Winger’s demise than Mike Judge.
Beavis & Butthead didn’t help, but they were FAR from singlehandedly ruining anything.
They used to play massive stadiums and arenas and now they’re down to a cruise ship??!! So sad. Well, at least they’re still together (minus Taylor) and still having fun and still sounding great.
They don't make sound engineers like they used to.
Wow! This crowd really does not know how to have fun at a great show
where is Hungry????
He shoudl of dressed as Capt Stubing of Love boat...That intro song feedback...whoa amateur roadies! Ever heard of a sound check? Maye I hire them for my asian nephew's bar mitzvah....
