Great video and great possibilities with this program. I just ran in to this video, that is already 13 days old. I have to look if the next video has already been released.
I'm very curious what the execution times will be. Hours or even days.....

After filming someone pointed out to me I was pronouncing it wrong so I tried to cover my self with a note on screen about 26 seconds in 😆.
Thanks for the kind words, glad you find my content useful 👍

May I suggest to do a CAM video of this file to complement it? It would be helpful to show users how to get to a final product now that we know how to get the file we need to produce it.
Love the channel so far! Please keep up the excellent work!

    Hello, thanks for your tuto.
I've engraved a terrain based on your tuto, with my new CNC, but I found that there's not enough contrast on the finish result (20mm high approx).
Do you have any recommandation on how to get a nice contrasted finish (similar to whashing method we do on plastic objects ).
for info, I only oiled it with rubio pure for now.
    thank you !

great tutorial, it comes at the right time for me. I program my cnc with fusion360 and for this kind of engraving fusion is very slow. I can't wait to see your trick for programming this type of engraving.
I hope your tutorial will be made with free software.

      Thank you.
Sadly no, the only free software I know of that can do this is Fusion360 but I use Carveco Maker myself. It does cost $15 a month but you can take an STL file like this and do all the CAM work in a matter of minutes so whilst it has a cost it makes life easier and saves you time

@@JamesDeanDesigns yes, that's what I thought. I need to find the right strategies for machining in 2.5D. It's also a shame that fusion 360 doesn't do inlays.

Awesome project James, question.. (I’m using fusion 360 CAM with UGS) there is something at the beginning of the Gcode generated by fusion 360 that my machine doesn’t like, at the start of every project my z limit switch is triggered and locks the machine. I’ve been working around this by turning off my hard limits and the code runs just fine, but of course at the end of the cut the machine jams passed the x limit switch and crashes to a stop no doubt messing up my steps and potentially damaging the machine. I circumvent this by stopping the program after the cut manually moments before the crash. How to find that rogue z limit triggering Gcode that fusion 360 is generating every time and eliminate it from the file?

In the Fusion 360 post processor screen:
Expand "safe retracts and home positioning"
Change "safe retracts" to "clearance height"

Cheap way to make this large scale for tables/huge game boards
Say you want to replicate your hometown:
    1. file from touch terrain, choose the 300mm size.
    2. Put the mesh into meshmaker, go to transform, and scale to the size you want.
    3. Use the plane cut tool cut your map into pieces that fit on your print bed.
    4. Print each piece on its side standing up. Use five bottom layers, no top layers, 1 wall loops, 1% linear aligned infill.
    5. Print the piece out and pour plaster Paris on in the print through the open side.
    6. Assemble all pieces on a wood board, glue pieces together. Oggle at your masterpiece of the most detailed map/game board you can make.👍
