    Lost to a team that was running a 1-2-1-1 by 15 last week; Had to play them again this week in the semis and I implemented this press break. We're headed to the ship, Thanks coach.

    Hi , love your videos. I have a question on this one......It seems as thought the play changes depending upon which side the ball is inbounded on. When the ball goes into the 5 the 2 cuts across and the one fills the middle. When the ball goes into the 3, the 3 stays same side and the 1 fills the middle. Is there a reason for that?

  • @Cre8tivFish
    @Cre8tivFish 4 роки тому +3

    Coach Russ, how come when you inbound to 5, #2 crosses over and 1 goes behind, but when you show an inbounds to 3 (opposite 5), 2 goes up sideline instead of #1 crossing over to sideline? You cross 2 and 1 when inbounded to 5 but do not cross when inbounded to 3. Thanks!

  • @shanechamberlin740
    @shanechamberlin740 4 роки тому +2

    why when the ball goes to the 5 the opposite elbow goes first and crosses in front of player 1 and then when you inbounded to 3, players 2, 1, and 5 moved straight down the floor; not getting why the response to the initial pass is different when the initial pass goes to one side or the other

      Thanks for the question. I'm sorry but I don't quite understand what you're asking. Perhaps you could try asking it another way?

    seems to be making it unnecessarily difficult by crossing your guards. I just diagonal out my strong side guard then have the second one float into the gap if the middle defender marks him

    I've recently been rewatching some of your videos, I'm a couple weeks in to my second year of coaching middle school girls. Thanks for the video! Will you be continuing to make new videos?

    WHEN YOU PLAYED TO PLAYER 5, YOU HAD A CROSSING ACTION WITH 1 AND 2 BUT WHEN YOU PLAYED TO PLAYER 3, THERE WAS NOT CROSSING ACTION B/T 1 AND 2, DELIBERATE?

    • @derekscott8705

      Noticed that too and think it was a mistake

      I noticed this as well and was going to post the same thing. I think it may have been a mistake, but not sure. I'm going to teach the team that if we inbound to the 3, we should run the crossing action between the 1 and 2.

    This will work for a little while until the defense realizes that they don't have to defend long, pull all of their players forward and clog up the half court. All 10 players in the half court makes it hard to maneuver. Another tactic is the defense will stunt full court pressure, offense sets up 1-4 breaker, then the defense pulls back to half court pressure. All offensive players are on the wrong side of everything. Keep randomly alternating between full and half court and you have the offense bouncing. I think this is better used against a match-up M2M pressure not a zone pressure....

      Neal Evans then you release the 3 and the 4 just runs the length of the court for an easy pass down court and a lay up or dunk.

    some polite constructive criticism...short'n up the video length and your cuts from different sides of the inbounds were diff....

    • @CoachRuss
      @CoachRuss  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Sean, it sounds like you feel the length of my videos create a problem for you. UA-cam recognizes watch time (minutes) over views when recommending videos. This is evidenced in the number of views in my much shorter videos verses my videos that are over 10 minutes long. As well as correlated with what other creators have said. How would you go about shortening the length of my videos without significantly decreasing my exposure and thus my ability to put out content?

    • @seanyaffe5008
      @seanyaffe5008 4 роки тому

      Coach Russ first, they do not create a “problem” for me. I speed them up to the actual content that matters. I don’t see the need for the fluff on the front end...I don’t know (or care to know) the ins-and-outs of what you do with UA-cam. I was making and observation about the length in a polite, constructive manner...also, you didn’t explain the question I asked above. I am not picking on you. I like what you have for your viewers. If you keep it the way it is...I’ll still check in, but I’ll speed through the fluff to save me some screen time.

    • @CoachRuss
      @CoachRuss  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Sean, I’m glad you have a way to get through the fluff as you call it. What do you find to be fluff? Also, I’m sorry but I didn’t see a question posed to me in your first comment. Is it too much to ask if you could try asking it in again?

    What do your guards do if you have to reverse to the inbounder and then to the opposite wing. Do they cut back through?

    • @CoachRuss
      @CoachRuss  4 роки тому +1

      With all five offensive players in the back court that's almost never a necessity. Any zone defense will be overwhelmed in the backcourt. Does that help answer your question?
