It's easy to understand why this song and performance by Cat Stevens is so widely loved. But, when I see you so deeply moved, I think it says as much about you as it does the song.
So beautiful as are so many of Cat Steven's ( Yusuf Islam) songs... I recall going down to Laguna Beach California to an art festival. There in one of the studios hung cat Stevens drawings which you used on his albums. Along with Joni Mitchell and others.... What a beautiful soul he is
It makes me cry, too, Andrei. So beautiful. 💓Why does such beauty make us cry? The Japanese have a term, "mono-no-aware," meaning, 'the sensitivity to things.' This was my favorite song at the time. I admit that through all kinds of popular music 'filling the air,' I was soothed by this song. I was an odd teen, though; Classical music first, then "Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass" (1960s), then the radio-pushed singles by all the 'greats.' It's so good to hear this again... In fact, this whole 'Reaction' phenomenon on YT is wonderful, when finding a channel like yours 😊. So much I didn't know of, because of the way the music industry pushed only certain tracks (profit margin, ya know?) For example, Andrei mentioned the dentist's office, when Dire Straits' "Walk of Life" became recognizable. Like that! The really good stuff was over-played (radio stations would simply hamster-wheel the 'Top 40' on the Charts, so that you tune it out after awhile (though it's imprinted in you somewhere), and the really REALLY good stuff was found Live, or it was obscured on various recordings, because it wasn't "Billed" as the Best Of.
I'm not religious, but this song is inspirational regardless of spiritual beliefs. More Cat please! He was always one of my top fave artists. Anything from the album Tea For The Tillerman will do. That album was, and still is, my therapist
When I started going to Church they sang this song. I thought how cool!! These people like Cat Stevens! Then I learned this is a Christian hymn written in 1931. Thank you Cat Stevens for bringing it to the rest of the world.
Yes, they started singing it at my church services too. I tried to get Stairway to Heaven played and for the church to sing it, but for some reason they wouldn't. I tried a few Bob Dylan songs, Knockin on Heaven's Door and Saved. They are considering Saved.
Rick Wakeman wrote and performed the piano part in this song. In my opinion, it's the core of the whole piece. The words are from an old hymn. Its overall arrangement with Cat Steven's voice and guitar touches one's soul. From the first time I ever heard this, it's been one of my favorites of all time. It embodies the wonder and beauty of this world we live in.
My best friend Jon I meet in 1966 , he passed in 2021 he had several cat Steven's albums , we loved to listen to them in high school, my favorite was Tea for Tillerman . Thanks for giving me great memories ❤Gary
andre, its impressive how deeply cat's song got thru to you. now when youre ready to see him in one of the most joyful performances ever, find the live version of him and a huge band doing the Foreigner Suite, and dont even try to count the changes. just be like the drummer and enjoy a righteous ride!
As always, thank you for this thoughtful reaction. Check out his Oh Very Young, Moon Shadow, On the Road to Find Out, Father and Son and Where Will the Children Play. He’s a great singer/songwriter and spiritual seeker whose music will bring you great joy.
You're absolutely right about "appreciation." It's taken me many years to finally realize the core and the depth of love itself is appreciation. It may even be at the heart of all that is meaningful in life.
Great reaction. I love the emotion yiu show as a lot of songs clearly move you. The caring for each other you both show is wonderful. True love. I am lucky to have that with my husband too.
This reaction is touching. Listening to Cat Stevens for the first time was such a memorable experience for me. In addition to what others have suggested I'd recommend the entire Tea for the Tillerman album, but you really can't go wrong with any of his recordings.
Cat Stevens was a favorite of mine as a teen in the 70s, and I had the good fortune of seeing him twice in concert at the Montreal Form. His song "Father and Son" is a must listen.
Ooops, i´ve missed this one. Another great song from my childhood/youth. I was a Northsea trawlerman for many years and when home from sea, i loved to get early up in summertime and sit and drink fresh coffe and listen to the birds outside ( it´s still my favorite summer mornings 😁) and i often put this song on. I don´t think i´m the only one, who´s done that. Cheers for another great song 👌👍
Thx , your close together hearts .... is so heartwarming nice to see , stay healthy and God may take care for your love 💕 ' morning has broken ' , is the right song to sit on veranda with a hot tea / coffee and watching the sun rise and welcoming the new day
As you say his voice is so calming and the words are inspiring, wonderful. All knitted together with Rick Wakeman's virtuoso piano. Its such a beautiful song. You are a lovely couple
Something about the beautiful piano, beautiful words and his beautiful voice together that is so peaceful, just puts you at ease somehow. Thank you for the lovely reaction. 😊❤
"God's Recreation of a New Day."-Eleanor Farjeon Every morning when we wake up, we should give thanks and praise to All Mighty God the Father for blessing us with a beautiful world to live in. And we should cherish each and every day we live on God's green blue earth. In 1971 some 53 years ago. Cat Stevens took a 1931 Christian Hymnal written by English Author Ms. Eleanor Farjeon. And composed a beautiful melody for it titled "Morning Has Broken." Sometimes we take it for granted thinking it is a given we are going to wake up. Nothing is guaranteed in life. And it's why we should be thankful and appreciate every day we see a New Morning and a New Day. God bless you all. Florida USA.
Peace train and Father and son are the next two i would recommend. Love watching your channel, and appreciate your true thoughts on the songs you listen to. Peace to you both from America. ✌️
This is one of the very few songs that Cat Stevens has recorded which he didn't write himself. Written by Eleanor Farjeon in 1931 It is a very old Christian hymn which I remember singing in the choir at school. I don't know if it still features in schools today but it was very popular back then, Cat Stevens gave the song something of a resurrection, it went quite high in the pop charts at the time.
This song reminds us and reconnects us with the deepest part of our humanity/spirituality...the gift of this life that we've been given. It's a blessing because the lyrics, melody and vocalization of Cat Stevens perfectly encapsulates those feelings and understandings which exist in everyone, even if one has never made previous connections to God's bounty!
I once attended a Unitarian church with a friend and they played this song.I love how it touched him so deeply in his soul......it's such a spiritual song.
This was a hymn sung by all children of a certain age in assembly in school every morning before lessons. Yes Cat Stevens or Jousef Islam as he is known now, has the most wonderful voice, try Father and son, i bet it will bring you to tears. as usual great reaction guys.
You guys are great, your kindness and gentleness are unmistakable. I am going to assume you have children, and if they’re over a certain age they KNOW how lucky they are. ☺️
I CRIED RIGHT ALONG WITH YOU ANDRE. CAT WAS ALWAYS ON THE RADIO WHEN I WAS A KID. MANY MANY GREAT SONGS. FATHER N SON IS AN EXCEPTIONAL SONG. PURE MASTERPIECE. SO GLAD THAT YOU HAVE DISCOVERED CAT STEVENS. ROCK ON 👊🖖
To me, this is a song about appreciation. Every morning you wake up you are blessed with seeing the same sun that Adam and Eve saw, hear the same birds, see the same flowers. Each day it is recreated anew and this song is about appreciating that.
Andre, you my friend are a great human being and watching you react to this makes my heart glad that there are human beings like yourself in this world.
Yeah, so “spiritual” that he called for the murder/beheading of the author, Salman Rushdie. Seemingly, converting to Islam may have got in the way of his gentleness?
Merci Andree to cry and letting you speaking with naturel. À quality that been lost since some time. To see the expression of your sensibility Andree, it is like to see the light when you finally reach at last, the top of the Everest. Nothing compte from the past, the light express like it have never been like there to you. Your soul is blowed by the beauty find in this live. We lost sadly this right to exprime like we are for the real. Comparaison take to often priority over the originality. Man should not cry and woman should not lead, what a wrong constant concerning our society. Everybody should to be in right to express of himself, in the way of like he think and how he should do whenever it is. When is expression it is to exchange and share in the generosity for learning, this guy it is to work to help the world. I like to share some time with you and your wife because of to be in the expression of pure truth. Encore un fois merci 🙏 Daniel St Émile de Suffolk
I'm so glad you have discovered Cat Stevens, one of the greatest song writers and performers of the last half century. Please enjoy more of his artistry, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience, i know. I so appreciate your heartfelt reaction to this beautiful song - Morning has Broken !! Thank you for sharing with us.
This song is sung in Churches. Cat Stevens found this beautiful hymn in a book and he put the music to it. It’s so spiritual and so meaningful and so eternal.❤🙏
Piano. Voice. Guitar. Beautiful. Soothing. God Bless Cat.
I cry too, every time
Cat Stevens said in an interview...."Morning has broken" was a hymn he liked growing up... So, he made it into a hit song.
It's easy to understand why this song and performance by Cat Stevens is so widely loved. But, when I see you so deeply moved, I think it says as much about you as it does the song.
Fact!
So beautiful as are so many of Cat Steven's ( Yusuf Islam) songs... I recall going down to Laguna Beach California to an art festival. There in one of the studios hung cat Stevens drawings which you used on his albums. Along with Joni Mitchell and others.... What a beautiful soul he is
Brings a tear to this 62 year old every single time 😎

Relationship>Religion. Just you and Him.
The magical Rick Wakeman (from Yes) on Piano ...
YES it is!
I didn’t know that.
Thank you for sharing that. I quite often wonder about the backing musicians in beautiful songs and I think they are under appreciated. 🌸
Wakeman also plays piano on Life On Mars by David Bowie. He really adds to the songs he plays on.
@@DrStrangelove3891 ... and Space Oddity too ...
Cat Stevens has many, many fine songs.
When I started going to Church they sang this song. I thought how cool!!

How about the Byrds turn turn turn. Lyrics from Ecclesiastes 3:1

"Moon Shadow" by Cat Stevens is most enlightening and a beautiful sing along song and "Father and Son" is straight up Beautiful start to finish
My best friend Jon I meet in 1966 , he passed in 2021 he had several cat Steven's albums , we loved to listen to them in high school, my favorite was Tea for Tillerman . Thanks for giving me great memories ❤Gary
Your friend Jon's memory lives on brother!
Have loved this singer/song since 1971. Such a beautiful voice.
You made me cry too, this song is so beautiful!
He might have changed names but one thing has never changed - his beautiful voice! he can still absolutely kill it on vocals to this day.
Father & Son is another must listen from CS
andre, its impressive how deeply cat's song got thru to you. now when youre ready to see him in one of the most joyful performances ever, find the live version of him and a huge band doing the Foreigner Suite, and dont even try to count the changes. just be like the drummer and enjoy a righteous ride!
I am a huge Cat Stevens/Yusuf fan. This is the most beautiful version of this song. You are a beautiful couple. Bless. ♡♡♡
As always, thank you for this thoughtful reaction. Check out his Oh Very Young, Moon Shadow, On the Road to Find Out, Father and Son and Where Will the Children Play. He’s a great singer/songwriter and spiritual seeker whose music will bring you great joy.
this song always does that to me...does touch the heart..
Andre you rock!
You know music is good when it touches your soul and strikes an emotion
Love the both of you.
I’m not a godly person but this song makes me believe in a Divine Creator.
You are going in the right direction.
It's taken from Psalms 31 in the Bible
And hopefully the devine creator will make Trump win!!
@@michaelasay8587 He's too busy getting ready for Biden.
He certainly believes in (knows your every element) YOU.
It can be reflective but I had an opposite reaction. My hands went up, I was smiling at the sky, and I’m thankful for another day ❣️🙏🏽🎶✌️🌏
I hope you have many more 🙏
Beautiful ❤❤ Cat Stevens had many great Songs. Very successful in the 70s❤❤
Simply beautiful!
Beautiful reaction to beautiful music ❤
Cat was one of the gentle voices of the seventies -- My favorite of his was Trouble -- It hit me like a bell deep in my heart
All his music for Harold & Maude is wonderful. Trouble is my phone ringtone. 😊
Life is so short; be grateful for every day and appreciate its beauty and uniqueness. We are gifted with so few.
This one was in my hymnal at church.
Gotta love the Cat.
The great Yes keyboardist Rick Wakeman on piano.
This song is in my church's hymnal. One of my favorites even if I can't sing as well as Cat Stevens.
You're absolutely right about "appreciation." It's taken me many years to finally realize the core and the depth of love itself is appreciation. It may even be at the heart of all that is meaningful in life.
Beautiful reaction! Try "Father and Son", another great one from Cat Stevens!

Yes! A top ten GOAT ALBUM for me.
Cat Stevens was a favorite of mine as a teen in the 70s, and I had the good fortune of seeing him twice in concert at the Montreal Form. His song "Father and Son" is a must listen.
Absolutely!
He was the 1st concert I went to in 1972 with my older sister!
Rick Wakeman not only played the piano, he also added loads of extra stuff, including all the modulations, to fill out the song so it was long enough.
Now your talking, love Cat Stevens, so many great songs.
This is a good start, but please continue with his other songs.
PEACE TRAIN is a must to hear!!!!!
Stop. Look and listen all around you. Nature reveals what is most important. ❤ Soul stirring stuff sung in simple words and melody. Love the piano!
Ooops, i´ve missed this one.

This song had only come from a pure celestial muse from heaven or somewhere. Only a special human being can compose this great song.
Great treatment of the old hymn. D and A say it all. Loved the reaction. Rick Wakeman from the band 'Yes' played the piano on this.
You guys are such beautiful people. Your compassion for music I haphazardly take for granted BOLTS me back to what is so important. Thank you.

We would song this at school assembly, beautiful song
I like father and son by him too
God bless you.
Everytime emotional
An old favorite, it is an old hymn we used to sing in church. Sweet memories it brings of a simpler time of hope.
We still have a great hope in Jesus return. He's going to put everything right. And I believe it's getting very close.
God's mercies are renewed every morning . The song reminded me of that .❤ All glory to God .
As you say his voice is so calming and the words are inspiring, wonderful.
All knitted together with Rick Wakeman's virtuoso piano.
Its such a beautiful song.
You are a lovely couple
❤ You both are wonderful people with big hearts. ❤
Andrei, you are such a sweet soul, as are you Dominika. I love you reactions so much.
I love how you feel the music. I feel the same way with Cat Stevens and Bread... It hits you hard...🙏😁👍😋

Father&Son is my favourit by Cat Stevens. Great reaction guys. Thank you.❤❤
Takes me straight back to being a child in the 70s and singing this in assembly at school 😊
Thanks for being so vulnerable.
It's simple but so well written. "Like the first morning". "Like the first bird" . Life on a continuum.
