When buying cantaloupe, smell the stem end. You should be able to smell the scent of the cantaloupe! Another way to see if they’re ripe is to shake the cantaloupe…you should be able to hear seeds moving around inside.
I close my eyes and run my fingers over the cantaloupe; the smoother feel, the better; also at the stem end you should be able to feel a bit of give when pushing in. Was given these tips by a produce manager in California a very long time ago.
I just Googled it. Cantaloupes should be firm but not too soft or hard. Smell at the stem area, if it’s ripe it should have a good Cantalope smell. No smell, not ripe enough. Over powering smell is over ripe!
Stock up on chicken. The threat of the avian flu on flocks will make chicken more scarce and more pricey. Likely some more gouging but best to prepare. If you eat much chicken.
Cantaloupe you smell the ends and if it really smells good, it’s rip otherwise it’s not, leave it out to ripped up. You can always get ground turkey, that’s healthy and still get the protein.
The melon should be firm but not too soft or too hard. Smell the melon at the stem core (where it was cut) and it should have a good cantaloupe smell; those without smell are under-ripe, and those with unpleasing odor are over-ripe.
I'm like you Steve, as I love hawaiian Fruchetta pizzas also. The walmart where I'm at stopped getting that brand about 3 months ago but a new grocery store in our area carries them...
Not buying meat because of the higher prices is sort of…..well. Silly. You need meat or another word is protein. Filling up on carbs is unhealthy and not buying snack foods you will have money for meat, fish, chicken etc. protein will help with hunger, energy and muscle build up and repair. Steak and mushrooms…yum
Hi Peg! Hi Steve! I buy my vegetable oil at Costco it's cheaper than anywhere else and you get a lot for less. Also when I'm at Costco I buy there butter too, and like you I pick up a whole roasted cooked chicken for 4.99
Late July is a tasty brand of corn tortilla chips. They come in different flavors. I would like to find cheese curds that are in a convenient and easy to prepare package. Hasn't happened yet.
All that snack food….could have been meat money. Smell the and be able to slightly press in the stem area of those lopes. If you can’t smell it you don’t want it. Look for Sugar Kiss cantaloupes….they taste like candy.
Wow, don't know what state you're in, but your fruit and vegetables are a lot higher than what I paid yesterday. The Kroger brand coffee is not bad at all. We buy it when we're in MS. We don't have a Kroger in our area.
I like Kroger, but lately, the one I shop at hardly ever has their digital deals in stock. I was looking for the Snapple tea in the jugs...didn't have any. The Kettle brand chips ..didn't have any. A week or so ago, I had a digital coupon for a free gallon of Oat Milk, couldn't find it. I asked the manager, they don't carry it. Disappointed, to say the least.
Its not melon season yet, so all those were more than likely "hot house" catantellope, and they are never really good, the tasted just isn't there - I'm a sniffer, if the stem end smells like I want the melon to taste, that's usually the good one. TRIVIA: cantaloupes have become so popular in stores, that very few (if any) commercial farms are growing Muskmelons any more - and while they are similar, Musks are sweeter but Cants have a longer shelf life.
People with heart problems drink decaf coffee and avoid high salt intake I take my own tea in a water bottle if I'm at a restaurant because no one has decaf ice tea
Gas and food keep going higher people be complaining is credits card would not payment anymore more living off credits cards than cash that would really hurt it was cash only everywhere

I appreciate you all & Thank You for making the videos. 😁👍🌟👑🛍️
How to choose cantaloupe? Easy, tap on the skin a few times and if it sounds light? You've a sweet one but when if it sounds heavy, then stay away :)
Hi I was always told never go food shopping hunger you will buy everything 😂😂😂enjoyed watching Thanks for sharing ❤️

Thanks
When you pick Cantelope you do not want to see a stem at the end. That means it is machine picked and probably not ripe.
Smell the blossom end
You guys are awesome I absolutely love your reactions to some of the sales and the food and a great I love watching you
Did you know that in Salt Lake City, Utah’s there is the largest Costco in the world. Just thought you might like to know.

You should buy your oil at Costco. I like the price.
cataloupe in New Zealand we call them rock melon
The two chips should be in healthier food aisle. Opposite side of store unless they have sold out.
Luv your videos. Btw I just filled up at Costco here in So Cal, $5.49 gal. And that lowest in my area.⛽️☹️
The cereal tipped the budget out of wack. Per oz more expensive than a piece of meat. But make you regular. Love that fiber.🇨🇦❤
I'm allergic so I'm not great at cantaloupe. I always love these Asa Kroger employee
