The part that always makes me emotional is Wilf begging the Doctor not to rescue him. Bernard Cribbins, as well as being a legend and a fantastic comedian, is such an underrated actor.
Reminds me of Donna begging him to let her die with the memories of their wondrous adventures instead of mind-wiping her to save her life, but kill the person she had become in her travels with him. That's one of the few things I very firmly dislike that The Tenth Doctor did. That scene makes me want to bawl like an infant every time I see it.
People forget just how malevolent and egotistical the 10th Doctor was at times. Yeah, he had the facade of a happy chappy, but there was always that well of anger and ego just under the surface, especially as shown in this episode and the ones leading up to this such as the Waters of Mars and Planet of the Dead. He could go from laughing and smiling one minute to outright vengeful and stone cold to people who were his friends before they fucked up. In many ways the 10th and 12th Doctors are the inverse of each other, while the 10th Doctor was all smiles and laughter on the surface, he was a real cunt when pushed. The 12th Doctor came across as a grumpy old cunt, but deep down he was a nicer, more forgiving doctor who only really dished out harsh punishments when his enemies had went too far, such as The Boneless, Rassilon etc.
If im thinking correct, in the re run it takes out the "it would be my honor" part and just has the doctor go over there and open the door while Wilfred is still begging

Which is why 12th is my favorite :)
Sure 10 was great, but that deep layer of kidness and acceptance in Capaldi's Doctor is so awesome.
Didn't read
@@donnydoeschildren3517 It's okay, you'll learn to one day. Take your time :)

This still makes me cry after all these years.😭
this one and the one he loses Rose.
just when he thought he was still alive...knock knock knock knock
It’s very sad how quickly his greatest victory, became his greatest defeat.
This was a really sad scene, yet done so well.
I wonder how he reacted to not being the doctor anymore.
Pretty well, I heard
Like Scrooge McDuck, I suppose
this vid is how he reacted to it
He didn't want go, will he come back? Who knows...
he's so sad :'(
it's all so sad
I remember watching this story not too long ago and it seemed shorter. Has any of this scene been edited out by the BBC?
Yes for some reason there's a lot of scenes that aren't in the re-runs of these episodes.
