Wonderful. Presumably the Totter’s Lane landing is a flash forward considering the Doctor and Susan have several pre series adventures before landing there
Including landing at the Tower of London and throwing a parson’s nose at King Henry VII!
No, I didn’t date much as a teenager, why do you ask?
That moment when you can't help yourself from turning into Roger Delgado.
He wouldn't have though.
Also, that version of the Master was his last regeneration, which is why he appears the way he does in Deadly Assassin.
Except he should have turned into Edward Brayshaw first, I reckon...
I love some of the details in this - the transition into the vortex as they leave Gallifrey is awesome, I'd love to see them do that in the actual TV show. And the fact you can see the other sides of the TARDIS through itself as it's materialising at the end is really sweet too.
I thought a bit about that transparent TARDIS thing and tried a few options of what would be visible, but I liked this idea the best. :)
The scene where the Doctor enters the TARDIS for the first time looks exactly like the illustration of that same moment from the Seventh Doctor books Lungbarrow!
I normally roll my eyes at fan animations but this was very well-done. Bravo!
I watch this again and again and again and I never tire of it, such a brilliant production. Thank-you so much Andrew, look forward to more like this.
Thank you! I'd suggest watching something else for a bit :)
Surely more than a pet project? We all have different tastes for designs/styles of characters, but the quality and amount of love and work in this can’t be denied. Fantastic job mate!
Thanks, Nick! Just a pet project but one I've been playing with for a while. Nice to flex the CG muscles!
This is talent and skill of a caliber rarely seen in the doctor who community. Right up there with Babelcolour. What an incredible short film!
Didn't want this to end... Wonderful job!
Cheers, Faiz :)
Wonderful! Must have taken a fair amount of work. I particularly liked the neon, slightly "Tron" vibe of the under-Capitol. The take-off scene was a highlight.
Thanks - that shot’s 90 seconds long, which is an age in CG, and it was a bloody nightmare :)
Nice work- a bit of Dr Who mash up with the Daleks, The War Doctor and the Master making appearances. When I saw that console with the panel removed I couldn't help but think that Quadrigger Stoyn was down in the engine room
This was really very very lovely. Thank you for your time, talent and love for the story. Be well and be safe.
luvvit! brilliant work x great twist with War Dr saving "First". crackin stuff.
This was stunning. It made me think about ways RTD could reboot the series for new viewers… starting with a prequel like this would be amazing
Russell is only interested in OTT Soap Opera melodrama with big explosion filled season finales solved via clumsy Deus ex Machinas. 🤷♂️
Perhaps for 60th anniversary, BBC could start w/ An Unearthly Child? Then go forward.
Thing is It’s better off leaving that idea alone. The doctor leaving/fleeing Gallifrey is one of the best things not to learn about him
This is fantastic! I’m guessing the Dalek broke through from the Time War and John Hurt was chasing him down to preserve the timeline. But what were the Mondasian Cyberman doing at Totters Lane? I’d love to know the backstory on this! Also, nice inclusion of The Master and Clara!
In the comic series 'Supremacy Of The Cybermen' they are sent to Totter's Lane at the time of the Doctor's arrival by rassilon (who had at this point been converted). Is is of course an alternative timeline, but the comic is a great read and terrifying in places.
I would think it was more like he when there to give him his sonic screwdriver to number crunch the the plan to save Gallifrey when all thirteen doctors showed up to hide it in the painting
Great. Really imaginative and enjoyable. Fab that you included the Master and Clara in this!
Absolutely beautiful and brilliant work voice perfect with the animation/CGI.
Absolutely brilliant! I really need to see a resolution to that cliffhanger!
That was awesome ! It followed the canon almost perfectly and gave new and entertaining twists to watch (the only nit-picky thing I'd point out is the absence of the Hand of Omega when the Doctor enters the TARDIS, but apart from that it's amazing)!!!!!
The Hand of Omega follows Susan in…
@@solidbronze Ah so it does. Very nice.
Oh my word - this is amazing. Great story, love those character models and the rigging is impressive, even facial rigging. Fantastic.
Love the little nods to other pieces of Whovian stories, it really adds to the validity of the short.
Didn't know what to expect but I couldn't take my eyes of it two thumbs up.
This is good thanks
It begins, and its about Time...
Happy Times and Places
That was truly amazing. So emotive and evocative of the early episodes. I really cannot say how much this video has pleased me or how warm it has made me feel. You have managed to create a unique WHO experience that outshines a lot of the more recent storylines.
Thank you so much for your time and effort. I, for one, really appreciate what you have created, thank you
Thanks for your efforts. Truly appreciate your time and loved the master regeneration.
Well what can i say this was sooooo awesome it made me cry i think it would have made a fantastic storyline to the Doctors start of his journey and why he left Gallifrey . Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh this is such a joy! Thank you so much
Very enjoyable good work
Andrew, such fun, more please?
Truly excellent. Now we need you to do something for the 60th that the BBC can't...
Reminds me of video game cut scene style animations from very early 1990s cd-roms.
That is really good well done on this. I hope you do more like this 🙂👍.
Extremely impressive and thoroughly enjoyed watch your video, looking forward to seeing more 😊
Quite excellent more please
WOW. Made my day, thank you
Thanks, Jim - feel free to share it widely so others see it!
This is fantastic! I was blown away by the ending, definitely gonna have to keep an eye out for your videos in the future. Great use of voice clips and love noticing all the fun nods to other Galllifrey stories.
Really beautiful! I loved every moment.
One problem! He didn’t meet the daleks until his first story where he had no idea who they are. Except that EXCELLENT!
Second story
Absolutely brilliant work, many thanks.
Very impressive! Best looking CGI Doctor who video I’ve seen. Very clever use of audio as well.
beautiful
You’ve included all elements known to me from the entire series. His personal angel directing him to the chosen tardis could have been missed.
You have seen most of the series.
Excellent work. Truly excellent
Fantastic !
I think you are a genius and this is very impressive. I know nothing about animation but I do wish the eyes were not 'disney-fied'. That is just a personal thing. An absolutely amazing piece of work. You should be very proud of what you have achieved.
To this day I can't figure out why they dropped the transition prop they had for the unused pilot. And I still hope that when I'm in my 70s (I can't say fifties, that's only 9.6 years away) I look that good.
Whoa! Launches like a Star Hound Viper from TOS Galactica!
And this is just perfect! Hmmm? An animated first Doctor series would make my lifetime!
Hi Andrew,
I've just come across your video and I loved every moment of it. Thank you for creating this fantastic piece of work and uploading it onto here for us all to view.
Amazing work please turn this into a series.
Very nicely done ❤❤...the measure of a true fan
This looks like the Start of something spectacular. I look forward to the finished product.
Amazing!!!
It was so good!!
Omg I'd love to see a missing story recon in this style!
Lovely. Why was there cybermen at the end tho?
No idea! What do you think they might have been up to...? :)
Absolutely love this! So good and the soundtrack is stunning! Exquisite, simply exquisite! 🙂👍👍👍
BRILLIANT!!!👍
Wow! Wonderfully done!
This is a dream come true. PERFECT🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Where did you get that BBC Clock T-shirt? Oh and I thought the 4 knocks was a really nice touch 😉 Well done it is brilliant work. I look forward to seeing more
Absolutely superb!
Fantastic!
If he was shown secreting away the Hand of Omega (as referenced in 'Remembrance of the Daleks') it would be perfect!
The Hand is in there! Look closely…
This is excellent.
Beautiful. Simply beautiful.
I'm impressed...
Very good.
I really liked the effects for the Time and Space Vortex.
Such a thing of simple elegant beauty, much like how I'd imagine such a thing would look if such a thing were ever discovered to exist in real life, as is much everything else is out in space in God's endless Cosmos
Happy Times and Places
Very well done. Hope to see future videos.❤😊
FANTASTIC
good job this is canon for me
Well done,🥇🎬👍
Ah someone who appreciates Gallifrey. If only the showrunners would do that.
Beautiful!
Great job. You pieced together Hartnell as the FIRST Doctor, even showing the Master, even teasing the scene where Clara went back in time to help him escape. Obviously you follow canon.
It would be great if they didn't butcher him with this model
Simplistic narrative, but really well done!
You should do animations for the missing doctor who episodes
I don't care, this is canon to me. I have considered doing a similar thing myself but not with animation and not of this quality. Even the directing is just outstanding
yes what chibbs did is fake
me too
A question I always had - much like the TARDIS never looked like a Police box before landing in Trotter's Lane, why would the Doctor be wearing his old man earth clothes before he visited there? Wouldn't he be wearing whatever was one of the fashions or uniforms of Gallifrey?
And where isSusan?? Is she stowed away on board and then show up in the next episode. Hi Grandad !!
Ok, that was awesome!!!
Great work
What a great piece of work. I would echo the comments about the Daleks. Also what are the Cybermen doing in Totters Lane? The Doctor doesn't know them and they don't him in the Tenth Planet; other than that, a great of work
THIS IS AMAZING!
THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Cheers, Dan('s)!
I have got to say that this is amazing. I really like the take of the backstory here. Also cam I ask you a question.
🤩🤩🤩👏👏👏👏
Incredible
This is amazing just subbed more !!!!
VERY NICE!!!!!!!!
the lighting was weird but the designs are great and original
Please make a part 2
What's with the fish eyes looks more like stingray
Very nice. What software did you use, may I ask?
You may: Blender, with Eevee for the CG. After Effects, Premiere Pro and Audition for the rest!
This is Boss!
That was brilliant
What's happening with 'Tenth Planet' Cybermen though?
Do you have plans of some sort of sequel where the Cybermen are after the Hand of Omega, or some such other idea.
I get your use of the Daleks (though sadly theirs no sign of the Hand of Omega) as it sort of makes sense that the Doctor would know all about the Time War prior to the start of the series (due to the fact that he hints that he knew all about 'something terrible that he couldn't remember' with regards to the Daleks in 'The Power of the Daleks' also it does tie in nicely with one on the early concepts that was considered back in 1963 with regards to the origins of the Doctor and Susan) thus it works nicely with me.
Plus for those of you who (no pun intended) are worried as why the maker of this wonderful video didn't show all (or indeed any) of the Doctor and his grandchild's travels prior to their arrival in London 1963 AD one could always imagine that this video simply 'skips' that part and merely gives us the 'edited highlights' (as it were) just like any other piece of fictional media does (after all who wants to see James Bond on the loo or spending half an hour looking for a parking space... we can assume that such things 'happened' to 007, but we do not want to spend hours of our time bored out of our minds watching Bond do boring everyday things. I'll also add that with regards to the Doctor things are no different so the makers simply show us the 'interesting bits'...) thus one could always assume that they were traveling in the TARDIS for years before arriving in Totter's Lane and had a great many adventures, you could also assume that the Doctor and Susan had an number of alien encounters while the TARDIS was up on the blocks, thanks to a number of the spin off fictional works implying such events, after how else could the winter of 1962-1963 have gotten so bad....
As a long standing fan of the series (mainly of the Classic run as I discovered Our Program in the late 1990s, thanks to VHS and UK Gold plus a few BBC 2 repeats shown right after reruns of 'Thunderbirds' back in the early 1990s) I really enjoyed your video and I'll give you 9 out of 10, hopefully you'll get the reference, will not be offended that I did not give you a full 10 out of 10.
And no I have no intention of becoming an immortal (static, barring the eyes) hunk of rock any time soon.
Seriously though your video has something that all good Doctor Who stories have, namely a sense that anything could happen, and indeed it did, yes there were some elements of Continuity here and there (chiefly how the Doctor took Susan with him and how he stole the TARDIS) but there were plenty of surprises such as the Time War stuff and a little hint about the Truant Officer/Master's origin (sort of) and the bit with the Cybermen (my personal favorite version to boot due to the fact that they are the only version that look like victims of surgery gone wrong, which is what Cybermen are supposed to be in the first place, victims, NOT just simple run of the mill evil monsters) really made me jump out of my nice warm sofa and to go and this comment.
But I degress, so I'll wish you well and I'll look forward to any other videos that you make in a similar vain.
Happy Times and Places.
This was amazingly done! Such a unique style of 3D as well! I'm greatly impressed! How long did it take for you to finish this?
About a decade!
Doctor Who Negative episodes would show when he was originally a little girl (who the Master/Mistress knew)
Very nice indeed.
60 years later
William Hartnell: come on now grandson I am going to teach you how to be like your first regeneration me❤
Myself: I will not let you down myself
Hartnell: I hope not
No Hand of Omega? ;) Well done!
Look again...
