Pentair Mastertemp125 heater troubles - watch to the end

- Purchased brand new Mastertemp 125 heater May 2021 with additional Pentair parts warranty.
Worked great for one month and then began cycle of igniting, fan blowing heat, then shutting off after 3-5 seconds.
Beware of endless cycle of being sent replacement parts only to have you have to hire qualified technicians to install them over and over, paying out of pocket each time. And finally, they’ll ask you to ship the whole thing somewhere of their choice, having to arrange your own shipping and pay expensive freight costs.
No heater is worth this much headache and poor customer service. This unit should have been replaced and would have been if they value their customers at all. - Фільми й анімація
ive been having the exact same issue and have spent days trying to figure it out and then i read the comments on this video about a technician adjusting the gas valve a quarter turn and it solving the problem, i just finished doing the same thing and it worked!!!!! but i had to turn mine half a turn because a quarter turn was still doing the same thing and shutting off after 5 seconds, thank you so much for posting what you did

I am a pool repair technician. one time I had a customer who had a similar problem and the problem was a loose wire on wire harness.
what wire? i have a couple heaters with the same problem
I’ve fixed the same problem in the field by changing the air flow switch even though the system is saying ignition error. Most Pentair tech support people are unaware of this solution. Your system is igniting, but the call for air is tripping a bad air flow switch.
So hey guys, I empathize with your frustration, as you can tell from my video. This seems to be the worst heater and has been the worst supported product I’ve ever bought. We finally were referred by Pentair to a technician who came and fiddled with it for five minutes and figured out that it is our gas valve that was the problem. He gave it a quarter turn and it started to run. He then told us that we needed to replace the gas valve with a new self-regulating one. And he ordered that and it has been on back order for the entire summer. We still haven’t seen it.
The most frustrating thing has been that I received no real successful support until I made a stink and posted it online and on their Twitter accounts. I really hope you find success as it’s the worst to have invested money in something and not be able to use it.

I have this same heater and it stopped working after 5 times of using it
I’m on my 2nd 125k I’ve missed 4 seasons. Only for Pentair to take NO ACCOUNTABILITY. I have less than 4 hrs of usage between 2 units.
It’s a water issue. 6 service bills.
NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY… UGH!

My pentair unit has been bad also. Bought new. It’s gone thru numerous different parts. I still have it and plan to keep it for now but these units kind of suck for lack of a better term. I try to fix myself also. A part here and a part there. UA-cam clip and I go at it again. Warranty was parts only. Dissatisfied here too. Sorry about your situation. I’ve been able to get mine working after completely taking it apart but now it’s broke again. The main board stoped functioning

I think I am gonna take the accountability to the Pool Manufacturer... Since they sold me the pool w/heater. I had no say in brand or style, btu’s Ext..

Same here; we installed it in July 2022, and we have the same exact issue. Very frustrating.
I had the exact same problem. Mine showed a C05 error code. I replaced the Pentair Stack Flue sensor (Part # 42002-0024S from Amazon $11.89). Easy to do. Now it works great. But I sure would like to find out how to heat to 106 degrees.
Maybe ur trv needs to be replaced
adjust your gas valve screw a quarter turn or half a turn clockwise and it will solve your problem

Change the air flow switch i had fixed heater with similar problems the different is that some of then turns for 1 minute and turn off other 5 minute and turn off
this is a new pool heater , why should it had parts that needs to be change.
it's the thermal regulator which is basically a thermostat like found in a car....
All those diagnostics are incorrect. Is your gas meter close? how far is the gas line? an ignition error is due to a faulty gas valve or the air intake is trapped. Seems to have nothing to do with the product pentair made. You could watch my video on my jandy heater that failed.
Mine was hooked up July 18, 2022 and I’ve had the same problem every time this heater cost me $4200 and it’s the biggest piece of junk I could take five baseball bats to it
I have a mastertemp 250 as well. Just purchased from a previous owner. Its less than a year old. Heater Ignites and then shuts off after about 10-15 seconds. I switched the heater from Natural gas to Propane. I changed the Orifice and replaced with propane. Bought a regulator for propane. Any ideas what it could be? I have replaced the high limit switch and no luck.

most of the time low gas pressure coming from the main meter can cause this problem.
Any idea what psi the heater requires ?

Make sure it’s turned on on the inside that was the problem with mine when they installed it they didn’t turn it on take the back cover off and there’s a switch that you turn it on and off turn it on and it should work
mine cost $4000 plus , switch is turned on but still doesn't work. its brand new and customer service is telling me i need to hire and pay a pentair tech to fix it. why should i pay someone to fix something that supposed to work because its new.

Mine will flash “AFS”

At the shutdown shows EO5.
This is my second unit since 5/23,
this one at least worked through the season.
Upon opening this past week it won’t allow me to heat.
Daughter’s College Graduation is Sunday... UGH
