I'm curious how engineers can possibly run around the ship when it's in sharp maneuvers. They must spend most of their time flat out on the deck of the ship.

The UI for Ship to ship combat needs love.. It is so cluttered when there are many targets and players. I hope cig seriously look at it fast

5:05 In general, you could add a mode where NPC fights with NPC while players are on the ship, the players should have the goal of repairing damaged modules and nothing more. Then you will collect data about NPC, modules and NPC + Player cooperation.
I wish we could have ground fight vs Ai , PvE to master some weapons I love ! hopefully in the future
Precisely. I know CIG wants to shove multiplayer 'fun' into more or less every possible corner, but I'd love to have a PVE offline practice area for messing around with game loops like mining, FPS (PVE) combat, and so on. Especially with how much time it can take to return to a location in the PU with; deaths, reclaim timers, and the commute. I would effectively like to try out my skiing on the PVE bunny slope before I try for those more Olympian ski jumps of PVP. As it can be less than 'fun' to enter into all the Persistent Universe gameplay when the newbie basics of key bindings, HUD markers deciphering, and other complexities are still ahead on the learning curve.
@@jasonp.1195And lore wise the Arena Commander pods are meant for training. It would only make sense to use it for more than just flight training.
Good idea to have Free Flight as one of the 3 experimental engineering modes; feels bad being the one who doesn't know what's going on in the middle of a competitive firefight, so it's great to be able to familiarize first.
Here is hoping that Alpha 3.23 is a great patch!

@@DamonCzanik You know full well that's not happening. They've said many, many times that it's not happening. It is no longer remotely necessary, and nobody wants it (if you think the old heads who remember and care about Sata ball in any way remotely approaches the scores and legions of players who know nothing and care less than nothing for it then you are just being silly and deceitful to yourself). Why would they waste development time on creating an experimental test mode that is literally no longer even remotely necessary to test EVA dynamics when they have long, long, long since antiquated that idea by fully testing out, iterating on, improving, and further developing EVA for years and years to the point where we now have an entirely new EVA movement system that is directly contradictory to the design of EVA movements that would be necessary to make Sata ball a thing.
Face it, that's a waste of resources that's not going to happen. Again, they've said as much *many times.*
We need racing tracks for ground vehicles also :(

@@DawnstealerGaming yes: definitely a large target audience out there will enjoy doing fetch and retrieve missions in another player’s ship instead of flying their own ship which they paid real money for. Bold move by CIG, unprecedented, will definitely bring in a lot of engineering minded players.
@@coomer8410 Paying real money for the ship in the first place was the fools game. This game of loop of not always being the pilot but the support inside the ship already exists in other games, and people enjoy it.

According to the Leaks channel they're targeting a Q1 2025 release. We'll see. I expect to see SQ42 playable at CitizenCon if that's the case.

I might try AC again. I think they have all the bones for a really compelling and totally unique multiplayer game here. I would love to see 4v4, 8v8, 16v16 matches, or even 32v32 ideally. You load in to a lobby and choose your ship, then your role: Captain, engineer, turret, utility, foot soldier, pilot, etc. Drop the teams into a private strategy room where they make assignments and choose loadouts. Then launch both teams. Have many mission types: defend, escort, capture, infiltrate, etc. I think a lot of players would enjoy just taking orders and focusing on their small part. Also, you need a progression system, something to play for over a long time.
Pull fuse. Place fuse. Aim beam. Fire beam.
Fun.
And not have your ship idle. Plus, you need to fire back at those shooting you. Teamwork makes the dream work.

No one expects anything to be built in a week. That's not even the point. Whatever else they add, this is the core gameplay. Maybe someday they'll find a replacement for the "placeholder" repair beam, but until then I'll be counting the weeks until one single "placeholder" beam is no longer a beam...
I am a bit sad on repair being "aim repair beam pistol at the thing" in many cases, but still excited to see this come into testing. It's a game, it's gonna be game-y in places, but would love to see it be somehow more immersive / engineering-y than "repair beam." No worries.

Don't know why, can't get myself to play Arena Commander, maybe if it was part of the PU i would. But when i open SC i open it to play in the verse....

Until recently same here but then I found racing, it’s so much better for not pro pilots due to respawn
@@jhmatrix They use to have that in a round about way a long time ago. They do plan to bring it back.
You can see the sim pods at the store on NB. Kinda egg shaped. Don't recall the name of them though.
I don't think anyone cares about AC. People might play it to test a bit but thats it. Don't know why they are wasting time with this thing that no one asked for.

That dev must have been working so hard he didn't realize it's a new year! Props to him though for the cool idea
I would love to see a mode where users can set teams for FPS, including assigning AI to teams (including being able to add AI team mates to your team or play with your friends against an entirely AI team). I'd also like to see the option to specify the AI loadout. Eg. you can set up a team of enemy AI that are all equipped with heavy armor and shotguns. These kind of options would be great for training org-mates in FPS against AI within Arena Commander.

I hope you guys get a spot where you can change your spawn to let people return to racetracks quickly if they do crash. There should be one at the start point of the track at most of the race areas at minimum.
Thank you AC team! I LOVE that AC is getting the attention it deserves. 3.23 EPTU has been packed full of features so I've mostly been in the PU, but I recently got a chance to play a couple of the modes in AC & had a blast! Just don't forget us players that want to play Offline. I want to play against Bots (humans & creatures!) in FPS where I'm not worrying about ping, or server FPS.
Engineering = (internal) ship races. Next ISC: Relay relay

@@x_Oeuf I've actually asked a dev how much they get to play the game, and they said they do not have time to play very often.
@@x_Oeuf if you spend 8-10 hours a day working on something, how likely are you going to then spend your free time on that same thing? A lot of the changes they make, make it seem like they are just reacting to what others say instead of reacting to what they experience when playing their game.

I've been away from SC for ages now. Probably 2 years. I plan to reinstall once cargo gameplay is in. Cargo hauling missions in particular.

The delays just selecting items like fuses or components will make the engineering role seriously challenging. They really need to speed up this process of selection. Look, select, animate the pick up...desync/lag, 4-5 seconds to do just one action. In 20 second your ship might be toast.
Will there be a option in settings where you can choose how in dept you want the engineering? Like some people just want to play the game as a solo.
I'm not in the PTU, but gotta ask...for the engineering stations that aren't seated or have grips (I think the Retreiver's does), is the console operator going to be made g-safe somehow? If not, they're going to be knocked prone over and over.
AC has been shaping up nicely since it has got some love again. I think you should leverage it more for tests like MM/Engineering and maybe test combat balance tweaks there before going to live PU. It might be a great place to preview test new ships or figure out capital ship combat too while we wait for server meshing.

Thats amazing. The directional arrows feels a bit arcady. It would of been great to have some kind of projectors powered by solar panels and to see them slightly blinking or act like a real hologram even in space the arrows feels like an arcade. Im not complaining tho amazing work. Godspeed!!
FINALLY voip in AC is must for me. I have people in my org that cant use discord because their country blocks it so trying to type while in combat is not really a possibility.

A whole new mode for Grav Lev Bikes? Other than Jared saying that, where was it in the video?
The A2 vs a swarm of Gladius - even IF ship balancing were complete - said group of Gladius simply need to stay in the huge gaping blindspots of the A2 (then its a matter of IF the A2 armor and shielding and hull outlasts the ammo count of the Gladiuses). It's nothing more than a fight of attrition unless you have really bad fighter players.

It's really fun, I play in it regularly. Especially after 3.18 with the quality of life fixes they did to it.
People forgot about it because it was neglected for a long while then combined Arena Commander and Star Marine. Since they started giving it some love because it also bundles with SQ42 it has been a lot of fun if you just want some instant action without the death time sink loop the PU has. It's also a great place to setup and test controllers and practice in peace or get fights that do not have the PU server baggage and higher GPU FPS.

Hello CIG, when will we have an ISC on the vehicle modularity ?
1. Have made it 60 minutes/waves in endless vanduul solo and did not get the badge, heard on spectrum you have to do it as a group to get it...
2. Did all the experimental modes in 3.22 and did not get the 99th badge for that patch cycle. Meaning played until match completion. 😢
