Great to see big hangars back and spawning ships in them. No more ATC kicking me out when I want to chill in my ship. ❤

As a proud owner of a reclaimer, I simply cannot wait to see what my Razor will look like in that hangar!
That's why you need a PTV...
For a while, every time I landed at New Babbage, it would give me the largest hangar available, I've had a razor or a fury in those hangars many times.
I want flaming hoops and jump ramps for my PTV for my XL pad. Throwback to pre 3.0 days. A gun range too!
@@shattered_helix I’m gonna try that just to get an idea! Especially with them saying XL hangars will be 20% larger, that’s a big change
@@rhadiemWell, you could spawn a Hercules and open both doors and drive through it as part of the course. Then buy some of those 64 SCU containers to position outside to complete the track.
Kind of surprised the implications this has for mining and salvage wasn't touched upon. With these changes we should be able to dock our salvage wherever, unload it into inventory, and head right back out. No need to fly the salvage craft to a particular location to sell. Store it all up and make a single run with a cargo craft. The QoL improvement for that alone make 3.23 the best ever patch.
My same thoughts, I wish to fill a hanger with RMC
Yep. Like a farmer with a silo. Store it up, wait for the best time to sell, load it up and go!
Yep, I think I may just return to hull scraping just for this.... no real rush anymore, just scrape, unload, go back out until you have a large enough quantity then transfer to your hauler and sell at the best location or right at your homelocation.
It's only for your home hangar. Stations are still temporary
Yeah home hangar will a residence location will be where it’s at. The new “local’ inventory I was unsure if they meant you can access personal inventory everyone at a console, or just per location like the old local used to do. Via those terminals. But yeah I was curious if you take 6 mole bags off the ship, toss it in a starfarer or something…. Go repair your mole and leave the filled bags could be used to sell. If the bags themselves were just “stored” at a refinery location in any ship. That the commodity / refining terminal would read those now? We’ll see.
In 6 years I've not been this excited about an upcoming patch.
And persistent hangars kinda solve the dilemma of how to add ship-within-ship spawning. It's not 100% needed.
We just use our freight elevator!
(Saw you post, had to pop in to say "o7, Brad")

@-sleepy- 3.18 added the most bonkers feature imaginable that we all knew was going to cause major teething issues. This is not the case for 3.23. It shouldn't even be the case for 4.0. 3.18 made the game emergent with gameplay to be found driven by player agency, mishap and fortune.

I'm confused about one thing - at 1:15 Chad said the size of the hangar assigned to you is set when you log into the game the first time after a patch by checking to see what the largest ship you own is. What happens if you buy a larger ship in-game (or pledge for that matter) AFTER that hangar is assigned? Will you be reassigned a larger hangar now that you have a larger ship in your fleet? Or will you be unable to spawn the larger ship in your now undersized hangar? One great way to deal with this would be to allow players with a hangar of any size under XL to upgrade their hangar size for an in-game price, up to XL (this would also create a nice aUEC sink).
In the original game package ships come with hangers. Eventually they may let you assign from this group of hangers.
thats a thought i had aswell
I guess you are assigned a bigger hangar at the same location and the persistence in the previous hangar gets reset.
you'll have to smash the wings off and use vaseline
I assume they're avoiding this so that anything placed in your personal hanger can stick around instead of you needing to reorganize your hanger each time you upgrade ship sizes (seems like a pretty minor thing personally, it might also be a thing in the future to buy larger hangers). I assume that if you have a ship larger than your personal hanger you wont be able to spawn it there so you'll need to use one of the location general hangers just like you'd do at any location that isn't a place you can create a character at.
Those ship elevators and the option to have them rise with said ships ready loaded and/or unloaded off screen, deep below, now that is what I had been hoping for a very long time. Looks great and saves resources. While the ships gets readied, there will be time for the essentials inside the station. While I am quite often running with salters, right now, I am truly happy with what you have achieved. Cannot wait for the patch to hit us.
When a player calls it's ship for the first time, I would love to have a special musical composition made by Pedro. I feel like it's a special moment.
awesome idea :D

Each manufacturer should have their own soundtrack.
+1 another one
Lmao that's as stupid as it is genius.

don't think I've been this excited for a feature since I started in 3.9
Here for this comment. Shaking legs under my desk watching this!
I've been playing since 3.12, I'm really excited about 3.23 and 4.0, I've been waiting 3 years
I started in 2.2. We had personal inventory accessible from anywhere. You customized your magazines and gun the way the vehicle manager works. When cargo was finally added there was talk of having to hand load it eventually and the idea of that blew my mind. Here we are.

Jared my dude... Have you ever tried to land a Carrack without losing paint? Its an art form
THIS.
Replace paint with coloured lube
I wonder if cig have updated the cargo pods on the ship?
Especially if someone decides to hop into a turret while you leave lol
Landing a Carrack is easy.... try landing a Spirit that isn't in VTOL mode.... i doubt you can fit a squished Pico between the engines and the doors....
Being able to spawn more than one ship or spawn ground vehicles and move them out of the way to spawn another ship is great on its own
I hope we can spawn fighters to load up on the Jump, too.
@@rhadiem that's what they are saying for sure. If you have a bigger hanger this will probably be easier only way to have bigger hanger is bigger ship too
0.8 introduced us to the game with Personalized hangars and the buggys with Ramps... Our hangars would extend in size with all of our ships littered about in the hangar space constantly evolving. 3.23 Is bringing us back to our personalized hangars, this time they don't extend into forever but they do contain (almost) everything we'd have in the original version. This is truly a poetic/monumental moment and I'm just happy I'm here to experience it with everyone. Its like watching your kid grow up, one day they're having trouble walking and the next they're walking down the aisle and you're wondering where all the time went...
Looking forward to more exciting moments in the future, thank you Star Citizen and especially thank you to CIG for all the hard work you put in ♥
Looking forward to this and totally accept that it might not be perfected on first iteration.
Questions:
- Is there any way to have persistent hangars in multiple locations, not just our home location? After all, each ship we pledged for allegedly includes a hangar.
- Can we open the hangar doors to allow friends to land, facilitating cargo transfer? Or can we call up our own cargo via cargo elevator to be delivered into a friend's hangar?
- How would somebody else visit our persistent hangar? Do they just need to know the hangar number? Must they be grouped with us to command the elevator to that hangar? Must we physically shepherd them from the public area of a landing zone or station? I'm thinking not only of friends but also hypothetically if I hired another player as an ad hoc loading and unloading helper.
I assume it might be a case of a new button being added to hangar elevators saying "personal hangar" that will travel to the hangar of whoever presses it?
To visit another persons hangar, you would have to get into the elevator with them. This is good for security.
Genuinely one of the best ISCs yet. Thank you Jared and the dev teams for providing clear visuals and narrative when describing the upcoming changes. As a primarily non-combat focused player, these changes are extremely exciting. Can't wait for 3.23!

Stuff like that will come .. on the "pledge" store.
Well they DID show a guy sitting on a couch...so perhaps some stuff like that is already in there? but as for weapons and armor...for the time being we can use storage boxes in that way i suppose (granted id like actual weapon and armor racks more, but at least you can use a box kinda like that for now)

Hope the cargo profit margins are higher for the added time it is going to take now.
You took my hangar away a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... - This makes me happy.
C1 getting a larger hangar is great. And I'm glad we are getting a fix for the vehicle spawn that tjey said wouldn't be included. It seems they found a good workaround!!
I love that they just tossed the next phase of physicalized inventory into this as well. No more pressing I for inventory. Hopefully they put some of those kiosks into the locker rooms tucked into various corners...
Yeah that is a huge change I don't see a lot of people talking about. But it looks like it won't be a big inconvience with how many kiosks there are
No more players standing in tight walkways and blocking the path, while digging thru the magic bag.

They didn't mention anything about the flair we all have ... the pictures, statues, etc. In the old hangars there were rooms and offices you could go to with anchor points to place those sort of decorations. I'm assuming that's not in these new hangars at this point since it wasn't mentioned, but that's one of the big things that will give the hangars a personalized feel.

@@LucidStrike ooooooooor you can take another ship and do a short mission in the meanwhile
My concern is that this is just going to lower your profits per hour. Like did they account for this new downtime and cost in the overall loop or am I just making less money than before because there is now more downtime and more overhead to pay for?
@@Ralathar44 These changes are likely coming with, and most certainly preceding, a whole slew of economy changes. I can't speak for whether or not it will "equal out" to be similar profits to what are currently made now, but the idea we currently have of how UEC is acquired, how frequently, and in what quantities is about to be entirely turned upside down in multiple ways including ingame ship prices changing.
@@Ralathar44 They SAID it costs extra in the video, friend.
I love how forward compatible is with the idea of Org Hangars, and maybe someday, building Hangars as part of a Base.
So it sounds like we can get ground vehicles in our ASOP terminal but not through the cargo elevator, sounds good to me
You could store a vehicle as cargo rather than a vehicle. Cos they can be transported for sale.
The implications for the quanta-based economy (whenever that rolls out) will be huge. Super excited about this patch!
When that Squadron 42 music comes up at 7:40 ....chills. Every time.
I love that they also added the ship elevators it is something I have been hoping for for years.
Next question....What will be done with the "Hangar Upgrade" packages that were sold back in the 2.0 days?
I think in the past they said they are going to use those as sort of a "free hangar token" to have a personal hanger at a location without buying it.
Hope so!...I want an Asteroid Hangar in Pyro! @@subbss
I was going to ask this same question. Glad I wen through the feeds. I think I had like two or three different ones.
Man...there goes my personal hanger that will have all my ships lined up

@@XShadowAngel to be fair we had it back in 2013. yes i know ships have gotten a lot bigger since then. it was one of the min reasons to own a buggy to spend ages driving around your hangar. dont get me wrong, what we are being shown is great and all and hopefully its only the first iteraction of the personal hangar. i mean whats happened to our personally space, our offices, somewhere to sleep. at the mo it just looks like an industrial space with zero personal space

The Carrack urgently needs a revisit at this point. The tiny bit of it's gameplay it had access to (cargo) was effectively shot in the head with this patch. It's such a cool ship, but it's missing *most* of it's functionality like repairing it's own components, drones, exploration, modularity, and now it's all but getting locked out of cargo unless you want to pay more and have a delay.
I came to the comments to bring this up myself. I really wish they had hooked up the clamshell doors on the cargo pods for this version.
It won't be repairing its own components as CIG stated that large components and above will now require a base for repairs and replacement but we will have the multi tool to patch them up in place at least.
@@rooster1012 The point I'm making is that was one of the originally pitched features of the Carrack. It has a room specifically for component repair on the Technical Deck (next to the drone room). My day is complete. But I have a meeting starting now 😢
I thought the changes in cargo/persistent hangers were tied to the ability to get back our pledge store purchase items back after losing them, or did I misunderstand? AND YES, I can finally land my Carrack correctly!
They are delaying that feature for now: "After careful review, our team has concluded that this feature would benefit from additional development time. Therefore, we're updating its card on Release View accordingly. We expect this feature to return to the Roadmap very soon, and in the meantime, Item Banks remain on track for Alpha 3.23 and will remain in place." via Roadmap Roundup
@@pjn931 I'd get upset, but honestly, they're making so many improvements that a small delay in this isn't a big deal...
Other way around. Getting those items back was tied to the item bank and persistent hangars. Unfortunately getting those items back was pushed out of 3.23
No, they've just said that the unique item recovery system won't be in 3.23 > but will be back on the list very soon
Maybe they've suddenly come up with a better more permanent method of recovery, as opposed to this temporary method they had planned for 3.23. And are holding off to work that out
Ever since SQ42 got announced as feature complete we get more and more juicy info about the future of SC
This feels wierd, seeing this game being developed into... you know... AN ACTUAL GAME
This is one of the things I'm really looking forward to and the implementation here looks perfect. Well done! Can't wait to check it out.
Aaand it's delayed.
I see where this is going and i dont like it. You kill with retrieve/claim function and auto loading function so many game loops like going to shops buy weapon, armor, cloths. If you can retreive/claim your personal items which you paid real money or got from subscription why should go buy stuff in game? An this makes „deadly consequences“ unnecessary.
Auto loading is paid slow convenience. Manual loading is free and faster. Claiming lost account items is not as simple as "give me it", likely why it has been delayed. And this in no way removes using shops, this is about replacing the magic location inventory access with physical access points and adding commodity cargo and components properly to that ecosystem. You still need to go to a shop to buy that gun, but now you will summon it from local storage with item bank or freight elevator kiosks.
I am so ecstatic about these new hangars! It all just makes sense and creates a place where you can actually show off your hard work in the verse.
I cant express how awesome this video was. Ive been here since 2012 and this is perhaps the most excited I have ever been. Thank you CIG!!!!!!!

Awesome to see the cargo gameplay getting fleshed out. I liked everything I saw here.
The update I've been looking forward to the longest. One of my biggest gripes about starfield it was not being able to customize my ship because every time I would change it it would reset all the items inside. Now I have a huge space to decorate and personalize to myself.
This is one of the most exciting updates I have heard coming in a long time and im usually looking forward to most updates but this will be a life changer. THANK YOU everyone. also the meme thing at the end is hillarious.
12ish years ago i was 25 years old ... and heard about this amazing game... i was sold. i am almost 38 years old, and probably wont be able to really play until I'm 40 ....but ya know what... I'm still sold :D
Thx guys for the features, and keep up the good work !
Missed opportunity for "hangars" - whether they are persistent, instanced, personal, or coat :D
Really awesome to see this major feature finally come! Very excited for this, fantastic work to all the teams!
I have a question. Maybe I missed something. Lets say your pledge ship is a Mustang then you buy a Herc in game. Is your hangar able to be upgraded to let the Herc fit or will you never be able to use your personal hangar for anything larger than your largest pledge ship? Also is the personal hangar size determined by current flyable ships or does it account for your pledge ships that are still in development?
Really glad to hear that you've increased the hangar sizes as it was a real pain at times getting certain ships in or out of hangars. I also hope that you guys changed the Carrack's landing gear back to how it used to be because upon release the side landing gear apparently exceeded the 'box' and as a result CIG shortened the landing gear which 'solved' the problem for the time being but caused massive clipping issues on the Carrack's landing gear itself.
So here's hoping you guys also changed the Carrack's landing gear back to its original state.
Very well designed. Im sure it will be tweaked and expand further but omg.. this is so much more fleshed out than i expected. This is a dream for a Hoarder like me.
So sick boys, this looks amazing. You guys are killing it. Keep it up!
