Great video Mr.! Can we uninstall the free subscription for a car brand and change to another car brand? I am looking to buy used Toyotas or Lexus this would be useful over generic OBD readers I believe. Additionally, can the simple OBD functionality be accessed by 3rd party apps? Thanks again for your informative video and responses to the various comments!
Thanks for your compliments! Your free car can't be changed. Nevertheless, you can scan all cars for generic OBD codes. You can't use it with 3rd party apps.
This is such a wonderful detailed review 👍🏻 but please I am confused on which to buy between this Autel 200 or veepeak obd2 Bluetooth scanner kindly give your recommendation. Thanks
Thanks for the compliment! I did a little search and noticed that there are a couple Veepeak OB2 Bluetooth dongles. However, I based my comparison on what appears to be the most advanced one I found on Amazon. It's the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE OBD2 scanner. I also assume that you are going to be working on just your own car. Based on these assumptions, I would say the Autel is better because of 2 things; 1. For your chosen car brand you will have all-system scanning for all modules. Veepeak is not an all-system scanner e.g it will not scan the AC module. 2. Veepeak is not a service tool, cannot program keys, etc. The Autel can. Lastly, the AP200 will also give generic scanning for most cars on the road because it has EOBDII. That said, if budget is an issue, you can still go with the Veepeak. My first scanner was a very cheap Bluetooth dongles and I learnt a lot with it😁. It just depends on how deep you want to go with DIY diagnostics and budget.
@@DIYAutoworksNG can we use AP 200 to perform dpf generation in hyundai cars? Most people are saying app doesnt works and neither we can do dpf regeneration.
Scan tools can sometimes be model- or VIN-specific. What Hyundai are you asking for? Will check Autel coverage tool if I know. Or you can check here autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2
Not working. I just purchased one of these for my 2020 GMC 3500 Heavy Duty truck. I did the set up. It will read my VIN bit not decode it. The manual list doesn’t recognize trucks past 2019. Is there another update for model year 2020 and newer?
Hi! Thanks for the video. Question. I want to buy this scanner and use it on my Volvo S60. Do I have to pay extra 21$ in order to use it or it is only if I want to use it on another car? Thanks in advance.
Just make Volvo your free car and you won't have to pay anything else. You only pay $21 if you want to use it to scan manufacturer codes or do special functions on another car. You will have basic OBDII (aka generic OBDII) for free for other cars.
Yes, you can. $21.99 per yea per additional car model. Coverage is for the make. E.g. Toyota will cover all models (Camry, Corolla etc), same for other makes.
$21.99 for all car models in the make. E.g. Once I pay $21.99 for Toyota, I will have access to corolla, camry, prius. You don't pay $21.99 for each model of Toyota.
Saw another video on it saying it has to connect to internet to verify credentials for login and required 7.2GB total for all the software. If you had to use it without cellular service in some remote place would it work ?
I can’t get mine past the Bluetooth part it says connected and when I hit bind it says your already bind but it doesn’t go to the next screen like yours did
This is a misconception. It is bound to an Autel ID but not the device. I specifically emailed Autel support on this same question before I bought it. They cleared that its not bound to a phone.

I just checked the Autel tool coverage Web link autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2, and as you rightly noted, the 2020 is not yet supported for the GMC truck Sierra. The tool automatically checks for updates each time you connect to the vehicle so if it doesn't download any, that means Autel is yet to release one. I also saw that the last year of the Sierra covered was 2013! This in my opinion, reduces the likelihood of having an update for the 2020 in a timely fashion. You may try to return it if this truck is the primary purpose for which you purchased it.
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks for the reply and for researching my question. I had high hopes for this device. I have only this one vehicle so I will be returning it. The search continues.
Great comprehensive video no waffle 👌 straight to the point and factual best I've watched so far.

Agreed! Pretty good

Thx for video. There are 5.6 different processing processes in DPF mode. Can you explain what these are?
I am yet to scan a diesel car in my life😑
Will it work on all cars as a generic code reader/I/M readiness and live data ? The $21.99 just adds the special functions ?
Spot on. Generic OBDII covers most cars while the 21.99 is for special functions for the additional car brand purchased.

This is not correct. Just checked my phone. Total file size is not up to 600mb. I have used it on airplane more and it worked.
Hello, I want to be able to code a new injector on a 2005 Renault Modus DCi, does this scanner do this? Thanks.
I'm not very conversant with the Renault brand, but you can check if the AP200 covers it here autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2
The key programming alone makes this worth the price and it's even cheaper now.
💯
if the 22 dollar fee for additional vehicles was permanent instead of per year this would be very good
Agree!
Just make the person who's car you're working on pay that price.
@@donniev8181 true, but I currently just work on my own cars
Will the dungle 'stop working' after subscription expires?
Subscription doesn't expire for that one car brand e.g Toyota, that you choose.

Hope you have good Internet?
Is it bidirectional?
Nope. It's not. Only service functions.
Does it read ABS/SRS/TRANS codes like my ML 629 ? Will it record the live data ?
It's an all-system scanner, meaning it will read all those plus any module in the car including Mercedes which may have up to 60 modules.
Will it show type A and type B misfires on a Ford ? It does fully Mode 6 ?
I am yet to use this on a Ford and so can't tell. Its generic OBDII function does show misfire count by cylinder.
is immo key service lifetime as well?
Yep. For that one vehicle you choose.
10:52 can be increase idle speed with autel ap 200 ?
Can you check srs and abs function of other cars not registered?
Nope! ONLY generic scans for unregistered cars
Can I test activation with it?
No. Its not bidirectional.
Dodge supported?
Yes.
I have an Acura, wonder if it falls under Honda
Nope. Acura, has own listing even though systems are quite similar with Honda since its the same manufacturer.
I have read it is locked to one device so if you changed phones or tablet at some point , you would have to re-purchase everything.

Se puede resetear el airbag?
Sí, puede restablecer el módulo de airbag. Pero no puede eliminar los datos de fallas con esto.
OK.. I wasn’t expecting a $22 per year fee, per extra car, ontop of purchase price 😞
Yea. Autel doesn't have the best of renewal fees.
