My MP808TS has been expired since 2019. I just programmed 2 TPMS sensors, suddenly can't program last 2 says update device. At a minimum, after expiration go to wifi and forget networks and never connect it again. I considered it...and should have.
This is insane! Not sure why some of us are having a different experience. My has been expired twice and I haven't faced any such restriction. In fact it's currently expired. Is it asking you for a firmware update? Those are usually free even if expired and I do them all the time.
@@DIYAutoworksNG it starts to program....then grey window pops up says this is a new product. Update device to complete or something. After I'd done 2 of them.
How's there not in the lawsuit against autel for this as customers are not signing contracts with the knowledge that this will happen in a few years after subscription expires.
Agree. But in fairness, before each update you install, the tool reminds you to make a backup. If you have one, you can always restore and be left out in the cold.
Just an FYI Autel pushed a mandatory update to my 906 Pro TS this week. It wouldn’t work without the update, and the update itself bricked my device and I can’t use it without paying the $700 for the subscription. I was one year past my initial expiration date so it IS possible for them to force you to update. I emailed support and they are refusing to help. Beware, maybe keep it offline (but I needed it online to print out reports).
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Had a backup? Another reason to look for other manufacturers. I've never experienced this on any of my Autel devices.
@@DIYAutoworksNG no, I didn’t have a backup. Didn’t think this would happen (my error) as the Amazon listing makes no mention of mandatory paid updates, it merely says you get a free year of updates. Assumed (again my error) that updates were optional if you needed to diag new cars/years.
Did you reach Autel? I read of someone who made a public complaint and Autel fixed the bug. They said tool should continue to work mostly without updates.
@amaze2708 Find their social media handles and put it there. State how dissatisfied you are with their product and for such for not being upfront their the tool won't work without an update. The response might be different.
Ok, it's been almost a year since you posted this video, is everything still working without a subscription? I'm wondering if the TPMS functions still work because I've noticed on mine, that it has to be connected to the internet before it works and I'm afraid that when my subscription ends, it won't work. My return window is about to close (Amazon), so I'm trying to figure out if I should keep the MP808TS or return it and buy the Xtool D8. Thank you for any info you can offer.
Hey, everything still works! Coincidentally, I scanned a neighbour's Lexus just yesterday which was having a TPMS issue. Worked like a charm. I don't need to be connected to the Internet to do TPMS tasks. What car is this? It may be a requirement of the car you are hooked up to.
@@DIYAutoworksNG It was on a 2015 Chevy Cruze. I was away from home when I got a service TPMS system message on the DIC. @@DIYAutoworksNG Ok, I figured out the problem. Without a WiFi connection, you can't auto read the VIN, you have to manually select the vehicle. Note that this only occurs when using the diagnostic tab of the TPMS app. If you're going through the main Diagnostic app on the home screen, you can still auto read the VIN without a WiFi connection. Thanks for the explanation, but pls my autel mx808 can no long scan from 1999 model to 2007 which I use to scan it Before. Now I can only scan for 2008 upward and I dont know the problem please help me
I bought a used one will I need to update it in order for it to work because I hook the bt connection up and it keeps say vehicle not supported... I even tried it on a 2012 Chevy Cruze and I said the same thing.
The first thing is to ensure the tool you bought supports the function w you are trying to perform on the car. If a function is not supported you will most times get that response or the vehicle communication will fail. You can use this link to check if your Chevy Cruze is supported. autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2 Alternatively, you may try to connect to the car using generic OBD mode. If it doesn't work, the tool may be faulty, or you could have a short in the vehicle OBD DLC port circuit e.g blown fuse. If the you are able to scan the car with other scanners then a broken OBD DLC circuit is ruled out.
Good question. I have not seen this specifically but I doubt it would. I will play around in the diagnostics menu and report back if I find anything. Mostly likely, one will just have to troubleshoot for misfires and rule out clogged injectors /worn spark plugs manually.
It depends on the make and year of the vehicle there ECU come with the option of switching nozzle/ spark plugs on and off. My 2010 Honda Accord does not have any of that options, but I worked on a 2008 CRV and was able to switch on and off nozzles. I got the Autel 906TS.

Now that my one-year is expiring tomorrow, I'm wondering, and I live in the U.S., if there's any good reason to download the data available for vehicles that are not sold in the U.S. like the Peugeot, Opel, the China cars? I can't think of any myself.
Personally, I downloaded the Peugeot and Opel, but deleted most of the Chinese cars since I don't see myself working on any of them. Be sure to make a backup!
@@DIYAutoworksNG Ok, thank you. They say to backup only the "Scan" folder but what about the apps and other folders? Are they restored when you reset the scanner?
Just copy that scan folder. That contains the apps, updates as well scan reports. To restore after a reset, replace the scan folder with the one you copied.
For this particular device the update fee is 599 but they are usually 2 sales a year that bring pricing sub $400. You will have to pay the full update cost as you can't pick and choose.
My mx808 won't work. It keeps saying subscription expired. It doesn't matter what I try, it won't do anything but tell me how much I have to pay to use it.
@DIYAutoworksNG Yes, I contacted autel, and they stated it had to be updated to reinstate the system, which requires payment and subscription. I actually just left oreillys where I bought it, and the manager(the one who convinced me to buy it) said he had no idea. We are now comparing icon, snap-on, innovate, and autel. So far, the solus is still the only one that still works after not updating. Yes, a new solus is $3599, but my solus I bought in 2010 is still working today. The only reason I bought the autel was because it was $500 instead of the $1k for a solus update. We went through the autel and tried every button/option and it continued to pop up the update required screen. The manager told me he was sorry because he knew he had told me a selling point of the autel was free lifetime updates at the time I bought it.
Not very clear on the question. You mean if it will continue to work without a subscription and you have a backup? It will work even without a backup. Backups are for it the files on the tool get corrupt like a smart phone could.

Can any one comfirm that the mk808 ( Not the TS ) can work on Asian cars and EU cars from 1996? because Autel UK site says the MK808 works on Asian cars from 2008 and EU cars from 2000 but the MK808TS works o all cars from 1996 .....any one knows if that is the case?
From first principles, the US enforced OBDII compliance for all cars sold in the US market in 1996, while the EU did the same in 2001 for gasoline cars, diesel cars followed in 2004. What's more important is the region the car was made for. E.g an Asian car (Honda) made for the US market had no choice but to conform to OBDII policy by 1996. This was when OBD ports moved to the standard 16-pin layout. All things being equal, the MK808 should follow the above in terms of access to cars. I don't see the MK808TS having access to EU cars across board before 2001, since there was really no policy. That said, this is where the proprietary OBDI connectors come in. This is my opinion though. You can email Autel tech support for a definitive response.
Hi, I'm struggling to program an additional key to a Mitsubishi Outlander 2012 using the MK808 2022 edition. The error I'm getting after inserting new key after the master key is "key status can not be read" Iv tried using another key, a used original Mitsubishi key belonging to another vehicle but I also get an error message "key is wrong type". What can be the problem? Also there are a few option the main two are Key register and Add an additional key? When should you use each one or what is the difference between the two? Thanks
Mitsubishi seems to have some peculiar protocol for programming their keys. This article may be helpful mitsubishi.automotive-manuals.com/outlander-2008/M142750630017100ENG.HTML I have also noticed that sometimes, the route through which you entered the programming could affect the result. Hey bro i do have subscription expired.. and i am working on a car and even though it says its connected to internet, but using reapir assit it saying connect to internet, not allowing to download the file.. is it a problem because its expired!!

Excellent video. So much so I purchased MK906bt. Wondering should I pick and choose the make/model updates or just grab them all? I don’t want to slow it down needlessly.

Thanks! Some tasks require Internet access or connection to Autel servers. Such functions won't work when a subscription expires. However, its not true that the MK808 requires Internet for all tasks. Also not true that it will stop working if your subscription expires. Same sules apply for both scanners
For example, programming some Mercedes Benz keys, online coding (there's offline coding), However, these these are not supported on the MK808 I believe. Also, FCA cars after 2017 because of the secure gateway module need Internet authentication for the tool to have access to these FCA cars.

I downloaded it and now no new vehicles show up in the history. In addition the unit reboots while i am in the middle of a scan causing me to loose my work and time. It was fine before the "update". Is Autel planting viruses to force updates???
I haven't experienced this before. Did you do a backup before the update? If you did, you can restore things back to how they were. There's always a risk of data loss during an update and that's why Autel advises backing up the scan folder before doing an update. The scan folder probably got corrupted which explains not seeing scan history. I guess you are out of subscription?

I don't think you can't change what you see in terms of updates that are available for download. But if your question relates to if you've downloaded brands you don't work on, you can surely delete them.
This was very helpful, thank you.
You're welcome!
@@DIYAutoworksNG I just threw a vid of it up on my channel

How's there not in the lawsuit against autel for this as customers are not signing contracts with the knowledge that this will happen in a few years after subscription expires.
Agree. But in fairness, before each update you install, the tool reminds you to make a backup. If you have one, you can always restore and be left out in the cold.
My subscription expired 4 month ago , it was still working until today , now it's asking to update before I can scan any car
I'm yet to have this experience. Even generic OBD scans? Did you make a backup? What tool is it?
Thank you very much and God bless
You're welcome! Thanks.
@@DIYAutoworksNG I emailed them and they said I had to pay for the update. I replied back but they haven’t got back to me in over a week now.
@amaze2708 Find their social media handles and put it there. State how dissatisfied you are with their product and for such for not being upfront their the tool won't work without an update. The response might be different.
it works but limited !! almost a basic code reader most extra fuctions are severely buggy or simply don'y work,,
I definitely have a very different experience. Everything works except the limitations mentioned in the video.
Will this model programme a key plip on a 2003 land rover discovery td5?
Not sure. But you can check Autel's coverage tool here autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2

What is the costs per subscription?
It depends on the Autel tool. For the MP808TS/Z-TS/S-TS, it's $599.95, but there are 3rd party dealers that offer way more competitive renewal costs.
I had the scanner with me so I tried to access the TPMS system and it said that it had to be connected to WIFi. After I got home, I tried it and I was able to access the system. Thanks for the reply!
Thanks again!
You're welcome. Thanks too for coming back to update! All the best.

My Maxisys doesn't have a lincoln mkz...do you know why? Can't read vin either.
Can't say. VIN reading doesn't usually work for early 2000 models and below
Is the autel 908 a better version than the 808 and does this same rule apply if you don't get subscription renewed
Yes, on both counts. Better hardware.
Thanks for the explanation, but pls my autel mx808 can no long scan from 1999 model to 2007 which I use to scan it Before. Now I can only scan for 2008 upward and I dont know the problem please help me
Several cars or a particular car? Hope the fuse for the DLC (OBD2) port of the car is not broken. I haven't experienced this before.
You can use this link to check if your Chevy Cruze is supported. autel.com/vehicle-coverage/coverage2
Alternatively, you may try to connect to the car using generic OBD mode. If it doesn't work, the tool may be faulty, or you could have a short in the vehicle OBD DLC port circuit e.g blown fuse. If the you are able to scan the car with other scanners then a broken OBD DLC circuit is ruled out.
Is there a method to know a dirty injectors and a consumed spark plug by the the scanner
Good question. I have not seen this specifically but I doubt it would. I will play around in the diagnostics menu and report back if I find anything. Mostly likely, one will just have to troubleshoot for misfires and rule out clogged injectors /worn spark plugs manually.
@@DIYAutoworksNG thank you for responding i appreciate it.
It depends on the make and year of the vehicle there ECU come with the option of switching nozzle/ spark plugs on and off.
My 2010 Honda Accord does not have any of that options, but I worked on a 2008 CRV and was able to switch on and off nozzles.
I got the Autel 906TS.

Same applies. They are not treated differently and are generally available apart from the exception raised in the video.
usually they disable the ECU coding and some other online functions on some scanners. definitely topdon scanners and few others and obviously this.
Yep. Though offline coding will still work.

My Maxicom MK808 will no longer communicate to reset degradation data on nissan leaf battery packs. They never told me this was the case when I bought the thing.

Hey. I did a video on that ua-cam.com/video/3OHAdF2SWQ8/v-deo.html
do you have to do the full $1,300 update or can you pick only the manufacturer you need?
For this particular device the update fee is 599 but they are usually 2 sales a year that bring pricing sub $400. You will have to pay the full update cost as you can't pick and choose.
Please can I buy this MP808TS from Alibaba and hope it wont be a locked one. because i read people complaining of it being locked on delievery
Since Alibaba has many sellers I can't really say. I always like to verify if the device is geo-restricted before buying. Maybe ask the seller?
My mx808 won't work. It keeps saying subscription expired. It doesn't matter what I try, it won't do anything but tell me how much I have to pay to use it.
Some have reported this kind of experience. Did you contact Autel. It shouldn't totally stop working. That's fraudulent.
Autel mp808 will continue work if has back up even not renewed?
Not very clear on the question. You mean if it will continue to work without a subscription and you have a backup?
It will work even without a backup. Backups are for it the files on the tool get corrupt like a smart phone could.
Can you still access FCA if you don’t get Autel updates and payed FCA
For FCA I believe you must have an active Autel subscription.

The error I'm getting after inserting new key after the master key is "key status can not be read"
Iv tried using another key, a used original Mitsubishi key belonging to another vehicle but I also get an error message "key is wrong type".
What can be the problem?
Also there are a few option the main two are Key register and Add an additional key? When should you use each one or what is the difference between the two?
Thanks
Mitsubishi seems to have some peculiar protocol for programming their keys. This article may be helpful mitsubishi.automotive-manuals.com/outlander-2008/M142750630017100ENG.HTML
I have also noticed that sometimes, the route through which you entered the programming could affect the result. Did you go through service functions or via the diagnostic menu? Try a different route. BTW, Mitsubishi warns against using a key registered to another car during programming... Weird in my opinion.
Looking from the comments I think u need to wait longer til it bricks.

Some tasks require Internet access or connection to Autel servers. Such functions won't work when a subscription expires. However, its not true that the MK808 requires Internet for all tasks. Also not true that it will stop working if your subscription expires. Same sules apply for both scanners
@@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks. Which tasks require internet exactly?
For example, programming some Mercedes Benz keys, online coding (there's offline coding),

And has anyone else had a similar experience?
I haven't experienced this before. Did you do a backup before the update? If you did, you can restore things back to how they were. There's always a risk of data loss during an update and that's why Autel advises backing up the scan folder before doing an update. The scan folder probably got corrupted which explains not seeing scan history. I guess you are out of subscription?
